To be fair, Phil Spector did initially walk on a mistrial but there was no way he was going to completely walk away from that case, no matter who defended him. The guy had a long history of pointing loaded guns at people and being mentally unstable, and his defense that he brought a girl to his house who randomly decided to blow her brains out when nobody was looking wasn't going to fly. It was over when Spector's own driver testified that Spector directly told him he shot somebody albeit on accident. That said, I would agree Cutler was more a clown than anything, and you're correct in Sammy fixed Gotti's trials which got him off and not Cutler's defense.
