John Gotti - News Reports (1985-92)
John Joseph Gotti Jr. (October 27, 1940 - June 10, 2002) was an American gangster and boss of the Gambino crime family in New York City.
He ordered and helped to orchestrate the murder of Gambino boss Paul Castellano in December 1985 and took over the family shortly thereafter, becoming boss of what has been described as America's most powerful crime syndicate.

12:00 the sound of those kids playing in the streets is so surreal to me. You don’t hear that sound too often anymore in the inner cities. But could you imagine being a kid growing up playing in little Italy next to John Gotti’s social club? That’s pretty cool imo. The safest neighborhood around.

He wanted Gravano to take the fall, so that Gotti could remain on the streets as the boss. That's quite a significant violation of their lifestyle, even if it isn't "ratting". Probably the most iconic gangster of all time. Every single “stereotype” cartoon mob boss was easily based off this man as well as that image in media. Gotti was a total user. He got his button after performing a very messy hit in front of dozens of witnesses while posing as a police officer😂 After that pathetic display he quickly shied away from doing hits. He refused several hits after this one but was allowed to because he filled Neil and Paul’s pockets with drug money. He used Ruggerio for the drug connection and used associates to distribute the drugs into the neighborhood streets. Gotti simply put his hand out and collected. He used Sammy to get him out of jail several times and to do the hits that he was clearly incapable of performing. Gotti would not of been the boss if it were not for Sammy setting up the hit on Paul as it was known that Gotti was afraid of doing jail time and used others to perform all of the operations for him. Gotti stopped doing hits as he had others do that for him, had others deal drugs for him and had others bribe jurors for him. It’s why he desperately wanted to be the boss like Castelano and not lift a finger but rake in all the money. He simply was a selfish user that got rackets and a no show job handed to him early on when he had some balls to go with his half a brain.

@@bobcosmic I consider myself an amateur Cosa Nostra buff, & they really don't call em the 'Ivy League of the Mafia' for nothin'. They were feared, the Genovese Family! Gotti, in all his $2000 Italian suits, the hand-painted ties, the perfectly quaffed hair, feared a man in a tattered bathrobe who most folks really believed was a lil crazy! That bothered Gotti. But the Chin's a stone cold killer, no doubt about it. And in Sammy Gravano's own words, "you had to be a serious guy to be around Chin." This lets me know that Fat Tony & Funzi were heavyweights & killers, too. The Genovese Family really did run things, now that it's all out there.

@@justinlecroy3579 not bs. As if the Feds were gonna ask him to talk and let him walk🥴. What rock did you crawl out from under😂 Your defending Gotti is really over the top. You should ease up on making it look so obvious.

Agreed. Without informants giving the government the location where Gotti went to talk privately , there wouldn’t be any tapes. Well, it's actually true that the attention got him, the reality is just a bit more nuanced than "fame".
