A Tour of Michael Fuehrer's converted Tony House school bus. @navigationnowhere
Fron the Sparte Independant - Erica Norton
Inside the bus
Since its purchase in May of 2016, the bus has been Fuehrer’s life. For six months, he would wake up, go to work, get out of work, and then work on the bus until late into the evening.
Despite moments of doubt in the winter and even some “fun breakdowns,” Fuehrer said those get overshadowed by the friendships and community relationship that the bus has fostered.
Through the help of his parents - especially his super handy dad Chris Fuehrer - and lots of friends, the bus is nearly complete. Where there were once rows and rows of seats, a regular old school bus from Pennsylvania now contains all of the things an apartment would have plus a driver’s seat.
Inside, there are three couches that fold out into beds, a table that pulls out from underneath one bed and pops up, and cabinet shelves that pull out and become coffee tables. The kitchen has a full-sized oven, a refrigerator, a sink, and two coffee table-sized cabinets which house the furnace for heat and a surround sound system.
The bathroom has a completely tiled full shower and a composting toilet, with water tanks under the bus. Behind the emergency exit door is the “garage” with all the utilities: the hot water heater, the solar energy system, the electrical panel and batteries. Plus there is an 8x10 rooftop deck to hang out on and watch the stars. The bus runs completely on solar energy, with solar panels on the roof, and the stove and water heater run on propane. However, it can hook up to power like an RV if needed.
Through the process of building the bus, Michael’s dad Chris pointed out that he and all his friends have learned so many skills they can take with them. Michael’s good friend Coriann Grunstra has been helping with the build and said she has learned how to weld, how to rivet, how to grind, how to use tar, how to use rust converter, and more.
But last weekend, it was crunch time. The stakes are raised to completely finish the bus because they have a deadline.

Details like undercoating were very much appreciated. What a talented man you are. Patrick - this is an interview. You film, he talks. Please do not interrupt, talk over him, ask too many questions, or dominate the conversation. On the plus side, you found a great bus, your video did a great job of showing all the details on bus, great camera angles, very thorough review, and best of all no background music during the tour. This guy directed the conversation to point out things the homeowner clearly never would have thought to even mention and he was trying to keep it moving and flowing because he knew it had to be done quickly because people would be lining up soon. If it wasn't for this interviewer this video would have been soooo much longer, people in the line up would have been pissed, the homeowner would have rambled on and we wouldn't have know half of what we do now from the video. You would have had the line up even more pissed. Gtfo

I absolutely LOVE THIS BUS! If I could, I would buy a new bus from the bus company and have it where you would start converting it. I LOVE the wood from the side of the road. Looks like he paid a lot of money for the wood and a master craftsman installed it. Beautiful job! I would have a reg. toilet. Love the lighting and I would have a blackout blanket for the windows for privacy to put up when needed. The wood on the ceiling is gorgeous. Everything. I would have a real mattress on the bed. And the skylights, I would have the dome type so the rain would not build up. Love the color of the bus. Please consider doing another tour video and just you talking about it with a camera man with duct tape on his mouth! lol! Love it, God bless you!

Watching this gave me the itch to buy a bus, build it up, and live in it. But then I remember that when I first moved out, I lived in a large camper that I bought from my uncle in my parents yard. Which I didn’t stay in for the cold winter. Because the weak little heater wasn’t heating up the camper like it should. Also because my parents found a trailer in a trailer park, for cheep that needed a little fixing. But I decided to move into it because the cramped for my liking. So now I’m happily comfortable.

That’s how interviewing works. He doesn’t think he knows everything. He was asking - engaging the owner to get the answers. That’s what interviewers do.

The interviewer Patrick is one of the best in the business in showcasing an RV. He did this showing Airstreams for years. Going over details that others gloss over. In this video he has to keep it moving, limited time and he wants to showcase it all. He knows RVs. Watch his videos and you'll see the difference.

I just bought a used Coleman travel trailer, 21ft. No tv lol, but it’s wired for one, we haven 3 not cheap TVs in our house and we spend hours watching things on our phones and tablets and a projector haha. I would have loved to have built something, but we just work so much and don’t really have the space at our home but I’m all for repurposing, I’ve really invested in things to ensure we can prolong the life of our rv, better to take care of the old than build new. It will also allow us time to learn how to do small repairs and Reno’s so maybe one day we can build something confidently. Awesome. Love it.

I love the bus it was nice and spacious and very homey like and it was funny as I was trying to figure out why the wasn't bowl of cereal and his drawer then the guy explained it so I laughed the only thing that really drove me nuts about this tour was the guy kept interrupting them before he had a chance to even explain anything that got annoying real fast....

First time I have seen any of your videos. I can tell you are knowledgeable when it comes to these mobile home vehicle conversions. At the same time, I appreciate how aware you are that the audience does not have your knowledge. The way you ask questions, and reword/clarify the answers so that an idiot (like me) can understand is something I like very much. Subscribed!

I really like this bus/home! For a basic design, I think it’s beautiful. He did a great job on this conversion. I like the fact that he can fit full sized appliances and not be crowded out... plenty of space. I’d absolutely LOVE to live here! I’m just really into unconventional homes, whether it’s a bus/van conversion, tiny home, treehouse, cave home, etc.
