I have a Spector euro 5 LT and a euro 4LX. I like the different fret boards for the five and four respectively. Extremely well built in the beautiful small village by true artists.

I'm buying the 2020 euro 5lx matte black. Only difference is it has the emg cs tw pickups. I had the 40dc in one of my old basses and loved them. I have the dingwall ng3 now but i need this Spector!!! Thank you for this video. Can't find many that are as thorough as you have been here, even though your bass is older it doesn't look like they have changed much. Thank you!! Mine should arrive any day! Ordered it before it was even finished being built back in early September. I can wait!

Love my 3 spectors need me a euro 4 to add to my spector family. 2020 Euro 5 lt (Sweetwater violet burst emg dc40 pups tone pump pre amp matching headstock ash body wings) 2007 rebop 5 dlx 5 zebrawood emg bqc pre amp. 2000s Q4 Pro 18 volt gotoh box and darkglass tone capsule preamp. Need a reverse p 4 string in my life.

Great comparison video. To my ear Euro 4 LX sounds more wide and open than Euro 5 LX. Am i only one who noticed it or its just me? Thanks for the effort!

They're very different pickups. To me the 4 LX sounds brighter and cleaner but sometimes also a little too dry. The soapbars allow you to switch between humbucker and single coil which is why I ended up getting a Euro 4 LX TW

I am looking for Euro 4LX for almost a year (I am based in Europe), and at the beginning I was shocked that so little stores sell Spectors,not mentioning any stock of euros - It was a bit dissapointing - couldn't get the Spector's marketing. I am still waiting for my first Spector :-)

This may change with the new ownership but tbh most shop don't store any other than fenders in this price range. Easy enough to get in online store and some local stores in Europe can order them in

Thanks mate! No cab on this one. I was doing D.I. from the Trace Elliot Transit B preamp. And yes I love the push pull buttons on the TW pickups. Loads of tone options.

THE "vibrant" and sustaining TONE of the emg tw reminds me of the epic and unique tone of Jason Newsted Alembic basses that I love so much. Could you differentiate them in their tone from the emg 35dc? the tw are more aggressive than the 35 dc? Thanks for your time and I never tire of listening to your tones, impressive.

@@pepegrillopantera1988 thank you so much. I don't own a bass with DC so my opinion is what it is it is: the TW with both pots pressed down are very very deep and massive sounding. It get really great when you find the right combination. I often have the bridge pickup in single coil model and at 75% or more. And the neck on dual coil but down to 50 or 60%. That gives me the right combination of definition and depth. And it allows the output level to be similar while highlighting the difference in tone when I move my right hand to different positions

The 34" scale 5-string sounds very tubby in comparison with the 35" scale 5-strings. Not bad, the Spector tone is there, but I can see why Stuart changed to make the extended ranges as a norm 35" scale, they're just much more crisp and there's something extraordinary about how they sound just deep as hell.

Agreed, it's very obvious when moving between my 5 strings which is 35" and my blue 4 string downtuned to drop c# for example. But of course a big part of the tone difference is the string gauge

I took the stock D'Addarios off and put on some DR Hi Beams. Nice combination to my ears with the EMG pickups. :)

Lot of Spector players seem to recommend those. I haven't tried them the yet. I have GHS Boomers on both at the moment

@@NXPBass The Hi Beams are a really nice string. Super bright and very smooth for a stainless steel string and flexible. Very low tension. Your Boomers definitely have more mids than the Hi Beams though. The Hi Beams are very scooped.- Stay healthy man!-Brent

Absolutely. Have a 2020 euro 5 lt Sweetwater exclusive violet burst (matching headstock ash body wings emg dc40 pups and spector tone pump), 2007 rebop 5 dlx zebrawood, and my first Spector a 2000s Q4 Pro with a 18 volt battery box and darkglass tone capsule.

@@NXPBass Yes, two EMG J pickups, an EMG BTS preamp and the body wings are solid maple that are partially chambered. I have two old school made in the Czech Republic spector 5 strings. They also have a 34" scale and can be tuned to Ab easily without any flubiness.

@@NXPBass Not unless one was to tune down to an insane low. The reason the Spector went to a 35" scale is because just about everyone else had already done so. If a bass is designed and built well (of course Spectors are), there is no real need to add the extra inch. For example, Ken Smith basses still have 34" scale necks on all of their 5 and 6 strings.

I'll do more samples when my new Spector but in the meantime you can hot the playlists i have lots of covers. There are also shortcuts to the sound samples so yoj dont have to sit through the speeches
