Thanks, this is a really helpful summary of the cut page. I think most people just jump straight to the edit page, but I can really see the benefit of getting a project off to a quick start in the cut page, especially when you have a larger number of clips to work with.

Thanks Andy. Yes, the keyword is 'speed' here. Couple that with the DaVinci Speed Editor and you're cruising.

That's simply the most useful video on the topic. Just started using the cut page and, dare I say, it WILL save me lots of hours with picking and trimming clips. Thank you!

Glad to hear it helped! It is a new way of editing, but once you got a hold of it, especially with the speed editor, you'll be flying through your footage.

When I first saw Da Vinci, I immediately wondered: why is there a CUT and EDIT, how do they differ? Because all of the other tutorials start from the Edit mode. This video answered my question, and I love my cut mode and the overview of the whole project. Edit mode just goes straight into fine-tuning the parts of it.

Glad it helped Julia! I was wondering exactly of the same question. I think if it comes down to a single keyword, the Cut page is about efficiency. And it handles that extremely well. Even more if you have the Speed editor. Thanks for the comment!

Very good introduction to the cut page. I have recently started to edit most of my videos in the cut page - especially, I do like the source-tape mode. But there is on little CAVEAT which I had to learn the hard way: if you use source tape with a high number of clips in a bin (and sub-folders) - let's say 100+ - it can easily happen that you press 'I' for in and just forget to correctly hit the button 'o' for out. In this case DR adds all clips after the In-point to the timeline. If you do not recognize this and continue editing you will have a tough time at the end, i.e. finding exactly from where things went wrong and deleting the unwanted clips out of your sequence - Puh, that's nasty. Anyway, the cut page is awesome as is your video!

Ouch! I can see that being an issue. I wish they would allow us to add markers on the source tape. One thing I always do when I use source tape is to take a short peak at the clip I just appended to the timeline and do a mental check-off that I actually dropped the right clip. Thanks for your comments and feedback!

This was a fantastic video. Opened up a bunch of hotkeys that I needed to learn about. Do you have a recommended Hotkey reference I should be using?

Glad to hear, thank you! I don't have a specific one to recommend, but I guess any recent version Resolve shortcut cheat sheet will do. I am personally using the 32 key Stream Deck interface where you can custom-map each key to a shortcut.

It depends on your keyboard setup. You might need to hit the FN key to switch to the F9.
