Hey bud ..👀 saw your other vid on setting up belt.. think you hve best vid explaining 🤔 on the TUBE. Had a ?.. I set it up like you did (crank mark to case mark & then made sure 2 marks on camshaft lined up) but 🤔 when I put the pulley back on & the plastic timing cover.. NOW the mark on the pulley & the plastic timing cover aren't lined up.. kinda like what your saying here in this vid.. (is this normal)?? What 😳 🤔 is correct? Please lemme know cousin.. God bless 🙏🏾 ..(all the pulleys are stock)!

How far off is the mark on the crank pully to the plastic cover?
@vangmotive7023
@vangmotive7023 Жыл бұрын
In this video it's only off like this because the ATI balancer markings is different from the oem balancer. Which will need the speedfactory pointer to find new TDC markings. By the way what is your setup?

@@vangmotive7023 i belive like since we spin the engine counter clockwise by hand..( the pulley mark) to the plastic cover mark was like idk 4 or 6 degrees before they lined up ..(as you turn engine counterclockwise). My kid said it was running with no power & belt was howling .. (too tight) (I know)... but I set up all the marks to the block markings/crankshaft mark...camshaft marks lined up..& then came up with what I saw 👀 on the plastic cover/ pulley mark... As far as set up. .. it just has a tune .. no cats or sensors o2 , headers. . My kid bought it sayn it had the bigger vtech idk ..believe they just swapped heads on it.. Found your vid after I set it up . Hence the belt being to tight cuz other tuber saud pry on tensioner as u tighten (NOT) BUT BELIEVE IT WAS OFF AS MUCH AS YOU SHOWED IN THIS VIDEO

@@OGSHAKER2020 ok so this video. the cam and crank was dead on TDC. So the marking on the pully didn't matter on this ATI pully. That why the speedfactory pointer was needed to make the new TDC mark if that make since. Did you watch my other timing belt video. How I set it up? The engine in that video was a b20 vtec. What can happen is depending on how the engine is setup. If it's a LS vtec or b20vtec if the engine is not degree your timing marks can be off. So if you can give me the head code(its on the front of the head start with pr3-3 and others numbers) and the block number left front side of block, center by transmission Can start with b20, B18, b18c1 something like that. I can get an idea what you are working with.

@@vangmotive7023 so yeah I also set it all up CAM & CRANK to TDC piston #1 at highest position. (So what your saying 🤔..does this also apply to me) doesn't matter what the pulley to plastic timing cover marks dont line up.. as long as cam & crank where set up & TDC.... I should be good? Right? ( I ENDED UP SAYN SCREW THAT PULLEY MARK & MADE MY OWN MARK ON PULLEY that lines up with plastic cover )= the position of the cam & crank at TDC. What ur thoughts cousin?? But like I said my kid said car has no power. But it started right up ..when I was done with the job.. (we did this just to replace cam seals)

Hey I was wondering do you keep the stock sprocket on the crank and just press the dampener on the remaining shaft
@vangmotive7023
@vangmotive7023 10 ай бұрын
Yes oem crank sprocket and just heat the ATI sleeve and slide it on.

Did your damper interfere with the lower timing cover at all? I installed my race damper on my b18c and the back of the hub hit before it was fully seated.

Mine does not hit. Do you have your alignment shim in?

Yes the shim is in. I shaved down the timing cover a bit and now it seems to be alright. It’s weird because even ATI told me it shouldn’t hit. It’s a OEM cover too.

What alternator belt did you run?
@vangmotive7023
@vangmotive7023 Жыл бұрын
Obd2b gsr alternator. With the ATI balancer you'll need a 4pk670 belt. It's a special belt and will need to be order.

Hey man. What did you use to heat up the pulley snout? Did it slide on easily once you heat it up?
@vangmotive7023
@vangmotive7023 3 жыл бұрын
I use an oven to heat it up. Use hot gloves too grab it and it slides into place no problem.

You can also use the Harmonic Balancer installer tool to also install it.

@stanislavponomar2588 3 жыл бұрын
VangMotive I was going to rent an installer and do it that way, but for some reason I can’t seem to find a metric one anywhere around me. The oven method might not work for me as my balancer came assembled from ATI and I don’t want to take it apart. Mine is also the “street” version. Thanks for getting back to me so quickly. Keep up the great work.

@@stanislavponomar2588 your going to need to pull the outer ring before you oven it, you only want to heat up just the hub.
