This is not the way specified in the workshop manual. 🤔 Normally, you have to turn the crankshaft pinion by 3 teeth, and then tighten the tensioner roller.

Are you sure your intake cam isn't off a tooth? Why were you ok with so much slack between the cams when you first install the thing. seems wrong.
@vangmotive7023
@vangmotive7023 4 ай бұрын
The camera angle makes it look off slightly, you gotta remember 1 tooth is a lot and very noticeable. The slack to start is normal, you just gotta rotate it like what I was showing to pull all the slack towards the tensioner to eliminate the slack. Alot of people don't know how to pull the slack towards the tensioner, that's why I started it with slack on the belt to Imitate how you would start on yours.
@Lafue108
@Lafue108 4 ай бұрын
@@vangmotive7023 Looking more closely, I think the exhaust cam rotated as you were installing the belt and is why there's so much slack between cams at 2:00. Yes, at least it was rotated the correct direction from the crank when relying on the spring to set tension; albeit, i think you only need to turn it 3 teeth to set tension while on a NEW spring.
@vangmotive7023
@vangmotive7023 4 ай бұрын
@Lafue108 Yeah, this is only for teaching people how to do it. Usually I would just set it one time and pull the slack towards the tensioner, lock it up, rotate it and check marking and call it done.

Is the base skunk2 ultra good for 500hp or is it too big
@vangmotive7023
@vangmotive7023 8 ай бұрын
Skunk2 ultra street will hold up to 500hp just fine, more setup for street use. The ultra race manifold eliminates the idle air control vavle and runs a 90mm throttle body with 8port fuel injection not ideal for street use. Hopefully, this helps answer your question.

hey if your just replacing the waterpump, do you need a new tensioner to tighten the belt?
@vangmotive7023
@vangmotive7023 8 ай бұрын
So I usually recommend replacing everything that involves the timing belt or water pump. Also, depending on the age of the tensioner, if it's original, then I would recommend replacing it, but you can compress the hydraulic tensioner and put a pin to hold it in places to reuse the old one but not recommend.. Hopefully this helps out.
