4 жыл бұрынHad a lot of fun revisiting this track, I first learnt this track in full after maybe a year of studying it, when I was 14 years old. At that time, when I had only been playing a few years, this was the track I always aspired to learn properly, up to speed and crystal clear at some point in my life.
I also remember certain parts of the song I would spend hours on, as a young teenager, becoming frustrated everyday, that I couldn't play it like MAB. Filming this video revealed to me what at the time I never thought was possible, that those frustrations and moments where I thought I would never pick fast, be able to navigate through certain scales as I please, have now become my strengths - and yet again proven to me that only time, patience and consistency stand in the way of your goals, and those things we all have, of course some more than others.

I really hate the term underrated, there is nothing underrated here, just undiscovered ;) I'm sure MAB himself would be proud of that performance and the story behind it. You obviously set your sights high from the beginning and as you say, time and desire will get you there. Bravo!

I worked it out as a teenager by slowing it down (A lot). It’s easier than it looks, just the transitions are hard (as well as memorising the positions). Thanks! 🙏🏼

Because of you, I just spent 3 hours learning that major 7 arpeggio section at 2:40..... now my wrist is in agony lol. Managed to get it on time to around 120 BPM, but gets a bit sloppy after that and I find myself using hammer ons, instead of clean picking..... left hand has the speed, right hand struggles at full speed due to the tricky inside picking required to keep it super clean..... I reckon I'll have this nailed soon though, after my wrist surgery lol. I then tried the tapping at the outro, that was a big mistake - wanted to amputate my wrist - this will take much longer - technique is ok, stretches like this I ain't done in years, but needs absolute memorisation to play that bit - which is where I struggle :) - I appreciate more and more how much effort you must have put into this !!!!

I’d definitely recommend break haha! But I’m all fairness, I’ve had this track under my belt for a long time. I started learning it at about 14, and managed to get it up to speed by about 15. Since then I’ve always played it at some point, and I use some of the licks in this track for exercises and warm ups etc, and to gauge if I’ve lost any speed etc. So this is the result of nearly 2 decades of practice haha (and I was obsessed with MAB stuff for years as a teenager) it’s definitely tricky and requires a lot of patience but, when it clicks, it’s worth the struggle!

You are a hero... It's nice to see someone finally play the SpeedKills opening and the original track from the album without all of that nonsense showboating MAB does in every video he's ever recorded. I especially enjoyed watching the outro with your own fancy twist at the end! My only complaint if I made one would be that your guitar tone did lack compared to how meaty the backing riffs felt; but when you display the entire track so fluidly for everyone to enjoy unlike literally everyone else who has ever played this piece on a camera (including MAB himself) we literally cannot complain.

Thank you for yo honesty! And it’s a major compliment for me what you said, I understand what you mean with the guitar tone; I was hoping to achieve a more modern sound (with the backing track) but stick to a classical MAB lead tone. A tone that has clear mids where the fast picking has almost a MIDI precision. I’m happy with the lead tone, but like you said it’d be interesting to hear it with a more nuanced and dynamic tone, which would sound especially good on the neoclassical parts towards the end I think 🙏🏻

@@Tramaineguitar It was actually more towards the end that I found the tone was undershadowed by the backing. The opening sounds incredibly on point as the backing is minimal at the start and builds with the rest of the track. And I don't want to call anyone out but 331Erock did 'No Boundaries' about 9 months ago... And even he chose not to do the original outro. Instead just made a fool of himself imo when I'm pretty sure IF he actually made the effort to do so, he could have done what you did. The saddest part is even with his ridiculous subscriber count, his video got almost no attention; but what you did here honestly deserves way more. You probably don't take requests, but I'd love to see some Extreme stuff if you're ever in the mood. 🤙 Again, great work.. I'll be keeping my eyes here for sure! 👍

@@nxgngaming6512 thank you 🙏🏻 ah I understand what you mean, in that case yes I agree with you on that, I think because everything in the mix is at its most intense, naturally the backing will either be stronger than the lead or, it would have to overall be quieter, I must have chosen the former lol but a better tone would have cut through the mix definitely 👌🏻 And yes I take requests and I’m happy to venture into anything, definitely extreme’s stuff 🤘🏻

Can’t stop watching this version, I actually prefer the sound of this to the original with the heavy rhythm tone. There is one more guy on here that made this cover, but edit everything where I sounds like a robot, it’s amazing how you make it better again with no editing, just skill and precision, incredible

Yeah I felt the track could be heavier in places, not to impugn Michaels version, you’ll never beat the original, but the overall feel the original creates I think can be enhanced in certain ways. For example, anything is usually gonna sound better with live drums, which I’m sure for good reasons MAB didn’t or couldn’t do at the time. I’m glad you think so, this is a legendary track known by many over the globe so that’s a huge compliment! And yeah I know the cover you mean haha! The guy who ‘performed my the track, actually looks like an outstanding player but, I think if he had more confidence in himself, he would’ve shown us the actual live takes he did rather than editing in all of the fast licks and lines, personally I’d bet there was nothing wrong with the way he played it originally and maybe did not need any editing, but like most of us are, when it comes to judging ourselves, we are our harshest critic and he felt even the smallest of inaccuracies somehow tarnished his overall performance. Like I said I think the guy is probably an amazingly skilled guitarist, but the fact the editing is so blatant is a shame and he should do more genuine performances in the future!

Wielding incredible skill, technique and touch, developed over a lifetime by sheer grit, persistence, determination and absolutely relentless precision is what I see as well in this performance! wow, that takes dedication.. dunno how long it took you to master it. kudos tho and cheers to MAB for coming up with this stuff years before many of us were in a stroller. there are covers and amazing ones like this, then there's the original who actually had to start from scratch to figure it out
