Speed limit information (SA code 8TH) is very handy feature that can assist driver during road trips. Your BMW is able to track speed limits and other road signs that are mandatory on your current location based on navigational information from your headunit and KAFAS camera. How does that system work and is it possible to retrofit that if you don't have it?

Hi Vladimir, Thanks for the great video. I have already solved the problem on my BMW F45. So I hope this helps other F45 owners and I guess F46, F48, F55 and F56 as well (but not the same verified on my 2014 218d F45 ACTIVE TOURER). Everything exactly according to the video, but replace 8TH and enter 5AS, otherwise everything is exactly the same. However, I only have three commas for now because I don't have the FSC code yet, but I believe adding the FSC code will show the speed and not the commas. Well, I hope it helps someone

Different KAFAS ECUs support different functions.

Thank you for your video. This is exactly what I need for my F30 LCI. In the beginning you said if there are other retrofits we need to know about them. But what do you do if there is other changes already in ECU from previous coding? I have Japanese import and dealer has coded ECUs to work in my country like map and radio, if I retrofit SLI and recode ECUs they will go back to Japanese? What should I do after if this happens? Thanks

If other codings or retrofits were made, then: Option 1) you will need to restore all the previous codings manually Option 2) FDL code needed ecus not to loose your previous codings (but you need to know exact FDL parameters for retrofitting the SLI)

If you have SLI via KAFAS1 then auto light assistant will not work. Kafas2 is needed

На kafas2 не обязательно покупать оригинальный fsc, можно подгрузить с машины с любым вин кодом и все работает

Hello, After coding the 8TH option (SLI) in 3xECU (KAFAS2, KOMBI and HU_NBT): SLI is present - in the HUD - in the KOMBI. - FSC 0x7E upgrade of KAFAS2 is also ACCEPTED. There remains one curiosity that I would like to clarify: Rereading the car's FA after coding : the 8TH option has disappeared, everything works well, but the 8TH option is not included into the car's FA. Also the I-Step in the car remained the original one (mine is F020-18-07-547), coding has not replaced it by the one selected during connection (F020-23-07-530) Do you know if an additional operation is necessary to make this consistent (flashing, other) ? Answers: You don’t see 8TH because you did not write it into your vehicle FA And istep changes has to be made manually via VCM Master tab

Добрый день. Есть такая функция с завода 5DF Active Cruise Ctrl+stop&go Funct., знаки тоже видит. У меня вопрос. Могу я включить функцию торможения против столкновения с пешеходом и ещё ,при торможении до 30 км/ч дальше сбрасывает тормоз, то есть ниже 30 не тормозит. Что нужно сделать,? В настройках авто ничего такого нет. Спс.

Помощь от наезда на пешеходов так же активируется кодом как и сли. Про торможение на скорость ниже 30 кмч быть может решается кодированием. Не изучал.

Владимир доброго дня! Помоги пожалуйста советом по эмочной приборке в Е60! Если епром не выйдет перепаять! Как её правильно поставить чтобы работала тнмпература масла и шкала прогрева? Пробег на ней меньше чем на моей 535! На сколько я понимаю её можно просто поставить и все будет работать корректно только с точкой возле пробега! Или ее нужно будет прописать? 2 вариант выпаять епром и переписать в нем вин? И по кодированию, если сэпрошить в нее комплектацию FA ту что на моей 535 слетит температура масла на расход? Можешь обьяснить подробнее пожалуйста, Ещё раз спасибо!

Я не делал такого дооснащения. Перепайка еепром точно не вариант. В еепром надо стереть вин тогда ее можно будет привязать под авто

Logical explanation of the "low" ethernet flow between CAR and LAPTOP: OBD ethernet has only 4 wires connection: therefore 2 twisted pairs (1 pair for transmision, and 1 pair to receiption) : 10 BASE T and 100 BASE T --> Maxi 100Mbits/sec ~~> 10Mbytes/second MAX. To have an 1Gbit/second connection (and 80..100 Mbytes/sec), 4 twisted pairs are necessary (8 wires): 2 pairs in transmission and 2 pairs in reception, we are talking here about 1000 BASE T. Which is impossible with the 2 pairs present on the current OBD. The maximum of 8 to 10 Mbytes/seconds is therefore completely normal. Sincere admiration for your tutorials, which will, I hope, allow me to upgrade the KAFAS2 of my modest 320D with SLI 8TH, which was forgotten when ordering the car. And that BMW refuses to implement... Thanks again. OS

Some USA cars have another option present that says SLI DECODING! I have no idea why to decide such a useful option, but see if you have it in your FA. Remove and code for the solution.

I have f11 03/12 press identify and when i press check fsc status error message cannot read ecu or somwtehibg like that, i had sli avaiable before but after uodatebi cen see only ---.. iny ideas? Maybe wrong esys version..?

Definitely not the esys version issue. Maybe fsc codes were wiped out and have to be restored.

Hello Vladimir , I've been trying to code the SLI to work in an unsupported country , but without success .. I have tried multiple Country Hex codes but none seem to be working , i have also tried enabling and disabling the horizontal option thing (can't really remember the name), but no luck ! I have read basically every thread and discussion on this topic but nothing has worked :( And believe me, there is a lot of users looking for solution. Any idea what could work ? Please help. BMW F11 2011 with KAFAS1 Forgot to mention , I have the 2022 Maps (EAST) installed , living in the Balkans currently.

Привет, Владимир. Дооснастил F15 камерой KAFAS2 от донора. Залил успешно FSC коды, увидел статус accepted, но после того как машина заснула коды слетели, статус rejected. В чем может быть проблема?

Авто само коды не должно отвергнуть (если они уже были приняты). ISTA+ такое может сделать при диагностике.

@@BimDoc Вчера разобрался. Перед заливкой кодов я обновлял кафас последней версией исты. Вчера сделал откат версией 3.34, это 18 год, и все заработало как надо. Получается, что с новой прошивкой, кафас сам выбрасывает чужие коды после цикла сна.

Здравствуйте, машина из Японии, есть абсолютно все из Вами перечисленного, только не принимает коннектинг драйв (в вашей стране не работает пишет) и не показывает знаки. Нахожусь на Кипре. Можете ли все подключить дистанционно ? Заранее спасибо. Да, дилер сказал , что коннектинг драйв нельзя у нас подключить, только машины купленные у них, думвю просто не в теме он. Maximum you can do is to use SLI data from road signs and KAFAS camera. Not from navigation.

Если в kafas есть нудный фсц то да. И скорее всего на данном авто не надо добавлять 8TH. Думаю что вам стоит пакет ассистентов где знаки уже включены.

Hi, great info. I have a 2013 E70 X5m with high beam assistant (camera in windshield), is this KAFAS based? My navigation is 112184.2.13 premium (usb) 2020 and I have driver assistance package code 0ZDA. Just wondering if this upgrade is possible in this case? Looking at rear view mirror options on realoem, I have S302A (Alarm) = Yes, S5ACA (high beam) = Yes, 55ADA (Lane Departure) = NO, and there is only one mirror option remaining with YES, YES, NO and it shows S8THA (road sign detection) = YES. How can I truly confirm S8THA is an option in my vehicle? I have a bimmergeek code reader if that helps. I would pay for services if you can help. Thx.

SLI on E series is possible, but it is a very rare option. I haven’t retrofitted SLI on E series. So more investigation is needed.

Thanks for replying. I did a little more research. Lane departure was on option on E70/E71's but not an option in X5M/X6M, not sure why. There is a kafas camera module and windshield camera that was part of the lane departure option.I have top view and side cameras, but doubt I have this specific kafas module.I plan to check the location under the driver dash for the control module. If not there I could add the hardware, but would be suprised if the power and camera harnesses are there. I did check coding and I do see the SLI setting, but it is disabled, as well as a few lane depature settings, also disabled. @@BimDoc

Hi Vladimir, I have an X5 X35d with KAFAS2 and 8TH enabled from factory and accepted FSC code. This car was from USA and it has the NBT Head Unit (Not EVO ID5/6) , I changed the maps to Europe but the SLI only shows 3 dashes (---) . Im currently in the Balkans and even if I code to camera_only it just does not work. Do you have any solution for this? Thanks in advance and please keep up the good work!

There are regions of the world where SLI is not supported officially. So switching to camera only is a right direction. But some more parameters have to be changed.

Привет, может подскажешь. Bmw 4 из США в Украине. Распознавание знаков шло с завода, в Украине очень редко читает знаки(видимо по картам читает знаки только), менял разные данные через e-sys, не помогает. Что именно нужно поменять, что бы заработало корректно? Карты европейские 2021.

Да в Украине (так же как и в Беларуси) эта функция не поддерживается официально. Но поменяв несколько параметров можно заставить работать чисто на базе камеры.

It means that option is impossible on your bmw. Most likely you have G series and over there procedure is a bit different

@@BimDoc according to the vin number, my car is not equipped with a front camera, but in fact there is a camera in the car, could the first owner install a front camera? I also have collision warning enabled AppId 190 FSC code accepted. AppId 126 I have FSC code not available, 191 FSC also not available . Does 8TH apply even if the camera is retrofitted? I just bought a 520 F11 and I'm extremely disappointed of this system. It was my most anticipated feature of the car and it can't be trusted at all. Most of the time it shows the wrong speed limit. I wish it could be set to get the information from camera only...

Actually it depends on the KAFAS type installed. On all kafas2 ECUs the process is exactly the same. On kafas4 it is a bit different.
