Thank you so, so much for mentioning your color blindness. This has been an obstacle for me in getting into painting for years. I was afraid to make mistakes. Now, I'm old and don't care anymore. So, now I'm about to get into painting minis. This channel is fantastic.

YES! That's the spirit mate, just do it! Monet went literally blind, and the paintings he did with almost no vision are some of the most valuable in the world, so... yeah. Paint those models! :)

Oh, thanks mate! Yeah, I only realised when I went for my first eye test and they asked me to look at the green light, and I was like "umm, the orange light?"

I’m brand new to 40K. My buddy Ed from Jumbakko Paints turned me on to it. I haven’t read the lore, played the game, or painted anything before. I bought the Blackstone Fortress to dip my toe in. If all else fails I’m going to keep painting. I’m a complete noob but I absolutely love it. I’ve watched all your videos on painting Blackstone and I learned so much! Thank you Thank you Thank you. As a color-blind painter myself, bravo. Guides with color recommendations like GW does and others is how I make sure my models don't look odd.

Yeah! The Citadel paint system is outstanding. My only gripe is - like everyone else - their nasty flip-top bottles that make the paint die young. Old school Coat D'Arms white tops, or dropper bottles plz. GW. I know you're there. Make it happen, and everyone will love you forever.

yet another top quality guide and video! never would have guessed you were red-green colorblind, while yes some of the reds were more on the orangey side, they worked perfectly as highlights. already been following your instagram for awhile now, and i'll definitely make sure to donate once i get a chance. keep up the great work!

I'm red green and brown colour blind. I struggle to differentiate between the 3. I paint and am a bus driver. Love the videos by the way.

@@MidwinterMinis no as I know the position of where each colour is. Plus they are quite different and bright. If I play uno I have to constantly ask if it is on red or green as they are very similar.

On the palette, your paints look orange, but on the mini they look red. And imo, the coat being red is optional if you can work with the different shades of colors and layers of paint.

Yeah, it never looks quite right against the white. I'm a bit scared of colour-correcting in my video software though, I don't want things to end up inverted, haha.

Yes the coat could look nice in blue as well. But the red looks great. Reminds me of an 18th century coat.

My wife & I (now Patreon backers) are working our way through the BSF models so we’re watching these videos... step by step... with a lot of repetition. I don't own the models, but I really dig your channel and these videos. You and Penny are a lot of fun Regarding the "orange" red - I suppose if you wanted to be very picky you could say your red is a bit on the orange side, but there's just no way that that's orange! It seems really close to the old school Blood Angels red

Love your series/work. I love paintjobs like this, quick, easy, dirty looking and how models in the grim dark future should look like! With the new AoS skaven release coming out, did you think about releasing a quick paintjob tutorial for Clanrats? Ppl will have heaps (100+) of those and ppl thankful for any help. Great, clear tutorials as always. Beautiful models too. I'm curious why you used a zenithal and base coat together, did you notice the highlights? I find i can only see it if I use really thin glazes/washes like your Ur Ghuls. Maybe that's just my bad eyes though. I'm also super surprised how many colour blind people paint minis, i'm colour blind with Tritan/blue deficiency. (edit looked it up) Anyway love your stuff, look forward to the next video.

I love how many colour-blind people are coming out of the woodwork! As far as the zenithal highlight goes, on this model it probably wasn't super necessary, but I think it made the greys a little easier to work with. His crotch had highlights, while the lining of the coat was still grey.

Honestly guy most of your reds I would call reds. Colour is always interesting and people often call different colours different things. For me orange is like an 🍊

to be fair I'd say it was more of a ferrari red, nothing wrong with that, not too orange but its a more orange red than a purple red

I think the guy pointing at his head is supposed to have his breastplate continue past his fur ruff thing. Some of the newer models have frankly odd details that are difficult to determine what they are or just puzzling to look at/paint.

These models are cool but flimsy drop them once and all sorts of bits are coming off I had to reinforce one of the chaos symbol spikes with some super glue it almost broke off cutting them from the sprue

Yeah! They look cool, but some of these new GW models are certainly delicate. A strange choice for a board game that they want to get kids into, but hey-ho!

As someone who works with colors every day, I can assure you, your reds are not orange. they are definetly on the warm side of the spectrum, but not orange.
