Hi everyone and welcome back to our channel.
Join us in painting some Lord of the Rings Minis. This time the Oliphaunt miniatures from War of the Ring: Second Edition. As we go step-by-step in how to speed paint them to a table top standard.
We will be using mostly Army Painter Speedpaints as well as some Vallejo metallics and cheap black acrylic paint.
We hope you find this tutorial in how we painted our Oliphaunts helpful.
Leave any comments or questions below.
As Always Thank you for watching.

It sure is. It makes the game look nicer and it’s so much easier to tell what I’d what.

I’m still loving the bottle tops😂😂 I promise I’ll get over how much better they look eventually. On the actually video note I think the Oliphaunt looks great! Are they all painted identical? ( I notice in the cover there were some others in the background).

They aren’t quite identical. There are a couple small differences on some of them as some changes were made but very small(toenails and the metallic mix was different)

Nice speedpaint job, like your color match, do you have Rohan and men of the North also?

Hi sorry for the delay. I have Rohan painted but no video, and I have not painted the men of the north yet.

I used: Camo Cloak for their cloaks, shields, and base rim. Plate mail silver for the spear heads and helmets Harden leather for the straps on the weapons, belts, and reins on the horse. Dark wood for the spear shaft. Holy white for their helmet feathers. Matt white for the horse on the shield. Runic grey was used in their saddle pad and stirrups. Silver was used for the armour. Gold was used to trim the infantry shields and to rivet the cavalry shield. The hair and beards were no specific and varied to give variety. The horses use a mix of Dark wood and Hardened leather at different ratios to give a little variety in the horses as well. (recommend going very light on the dark wood to start as it is much darker than Hardened leather) Overall I used more colors on these minis than some others simply because I was having more fun painting these. You could probably get away with using fewer if you wanted.

There that is the list of colours used as well as a picture of them with the paint bottles :). Let us know if you have any further questions. I believe we will be trying to do men of the north soon.

Great video, thank you. Just a question: which white primer you have used? I hope all miniatures will follow (because I have just bought my own game and I want to start with painting them)

Hi thanks for watching. They were primed with the Vallejo white surface primer. There are some miniatures already posted as shorts. We plan to post as many of them as we can. Is there any miniatures in particular you would like to see? We will do our best to make it happen!

@@Princess_Quorra Thank you. No there is no "order" in any of these painitng tipps. I have got my board game and a set of Army Speed paints yesterday, so I can start soon (1st I have to finish some SW Armada stuff). I saw your shorts, always start/stop to see which colors are used :-) After finished the miniatures, to you coat them? For safety? Or leave hem as it is? Greetings from Singapore

Yes we put a coat of matte varnish over the miniatures from war of the ring to protect them since they are for a game. We don’t necessarily do that for every mini we paint. Happy to have a viewer from Singapore. We were just wondering if there were any minis you wanted to see painted as we may not video them all but are happy to do our best to video any you’d like to see.

@@Princess_Quorra my next project will be the WotR set (beginning with the core game). So if you already painted minis (without a video) just show them (to collect ideas), best would be with a list of used colours. If you are already in progress......videos (long or short) would be great (but most important is always a list of used paints). And thank you for the coat tipps....I also do this (usually) for minis whch are used for playing (e.g. Aliens, Space Hulk) - and I always combine this with 3D printed objects to upgrade the immersion.

For WOTR minis we were hoping to do do what we could but logistics sometimes makes it hard to video them all that’s why we ask.

Ya it definitely takes time. Some minis I start and then finish months later because I get distracted (sorry green dragon 😂 you’ll get finished eventually)

Have you experienced any problems with the miniatures becoming sticky after painting? I have and struggle to find a solution.
@Princess_Quorra
@Princess_Quorra 7 ай бұрын
Hi sorry for the delay I have not. I wash all my miniatures in warm soapy water(dish soap) and scrub them with a tooth brush prior to rinsing. I also prime using a (cheap amazon) airbrush. Once painted I hit the models with a varnish. Doing the above I have avoided the sticky issues. Hopefully that helps!
