Your way of explaining how to program the NX, and how it all relates to each function is amazing. It makes learning so much easier, as you point out the details in a logical sequence. Nurture your talent and apply it whenever or wherever you can. You have earned my vote for sure. Thank you!

Thanks for that - really useful. Only down-side is that elevator jumps to the position when flap position is changed. Does not move in sympathy with flap. But as a temporary measure until one has landed, it's great.

When using this setup i only need to do it once,so i dont experience the jump. Deploy flaps,make adjustment,land, and then transfer. Now its zeroed out when you go back up,deploy flaps and no jump and if need to ,repeat process.

I think it would be a lot easier to just put the flight modes on the flap switch and use the F-Mode trims. You'll use the normal trim levers and the transmitter will remember all of the trim settings. You probably won't even have to go into the flap system menu and enter any elevator trim values. Also, I adjust the elevator trims for when the flaps are down by gliding into the wind at a safe distance above the runway. I want the plane to descend as slowly as possible, but safely above the stall speed. If I add a little power, it should level off and if I add more power, it should climb. The flaps shouldn't really be lowered when the throttle is above 50 to 75 percent.
@BDTennessee
@BDTennessee 2 жыл бұрын
Both methods work.I wanted to show this as a alternate method too.Some reasons I use this cause it further away from right stick so not as crowded controlling on one side( similar to crossed trims without moving them for normal use). Second,you can adjust up to 100% where flight modes is limited to 50%. Third i transfer the percentages so i can see them separately. Set flaps while holding power.Especially heavier jets/planes that you dont glide in. Setting pitch for airspeed on a constant throttle,where gliding it can be harder setting the pitch for a certain throttle cause its not being controlled as accurately on a glide.However use what works :) I appreciate your input and adding info to share too.

@@BDTennessee On my DX9 Black, I get 29% of travel with 100% trim. If I enter a non-zero value for elevator trim in the flap system menu, the elevator trim gives me 29% of travel on either side of that. I've never had a plane that needed more than 12% elevator mix. I'm still in the early stages of testing flight modes on the flap switch. I set the glide speed on two of my EDF's with the flaps down, but haven't done much flying around with them down. I've used the L and R trim switches in the past for adjusting gyro gains, etc. and they felt awkward..
@BDTennessee
@BDTennessee 2 жыл бұрын
@@txkflier correct 29%. I mispoke when i typed.If you look at other comments on this video ,i replied to another comment 100% vs 29% about 2 months ago. Jets dont need that much but high wings can get up there in percentages. Its ok if L/R trim is awkward,we all have our preferences that we do and dont like. Multiple ways to do the same thing,just use the one that works best for each pilot :)

I use flight modes for flaps as someone describes below. Set up three modes. Adjust the elevator trim when in mode 3 (landing flaps) with the normal, every day trim switch and the elevator "remembers" what it is suppose to do when the flaps are put in the down position. Mode 2 (take off flaps) same way. In other words, what ever you do in one mode only works in that (mode) flap position.

I made a video showing that method too.I prefer using Flap System menu instead of Flight modes for elevator mix for a few reasons...

Here's a question for ya. I'm setting up a mix for my gear doors to gear. I have the gear doors on aux 1 and the gear is the gear. My problem is that the gear doors closed faster than the gear and it jams up. Is there a way to slow down the doors closing before the gear retract.

BD, I have another escenario, I have a mix with the elevator on my flaps, and work perfect for landing, but when I taking off the mix is not working because the flaps are down and the elevator as well and is not giving me to much ‘positive’ lift for taking off, so I am thinking and I do not know if it is possible two have a flap configuration neutra without mixing and I another switch another flaps configuration with the mixing with the elevator, one for taking off (position one and two) and one for landing (position one and two as well), thanks for the feed back.
@BDTennessee
@BDTennessee Жыл бұрын
Setup two ways. One using separate switch and mix for a takeoff mode 1 and 2. Second, use half flaps for takeoff and full flaps for landing.

For some reason, the LT>ELE Mix impacts the Throttle Trim on my NX8. Is there a way to fix this? Your help is appreciated.
@horsth9566
@horsth9566 3 жыл бұрын
Found the answer: when the LT switch is touched, the home screen display changes. Instead of the Throttle Trim value, it now displays the LT value temporarily. The column heading shows LT. This might be a good way to see the LT center position, rather than listening to the Trim center tone. All applies to the RT swich as well.
@BDTennessee
@BDTennessee 3 жыл бұрын
@@horsth9566 Glad you got it figured.When you adjust the LT the value of the Elevator will change. It also works in conjunction with normal trim. So if you have -10 of elevator trim for level flight and you add +20 LT the monitor will now show +10. So thats why i say listen for the beeps cause its not always 0...

This method is simple after setting up a mix which takes less than 30 seconds. Also you get over 3 times the adjustment (29 vs 100).Lastly you get to see on the flap screen how much Elevator percentage. I appreciate the feedback
