Today we're going to take a deep look at the deep lore and real world mythologies explored throughout Yu-Gi-Oh! GX to answer this decades old question: Why are the Sacred Beasts so similar to the Egyptian God monsters?
This video does include discussion surrounding fictionalized versions of historically persecuted real-world religions. No offense or disrespect to any real world beliefs or experience is intended.

This is a hilariously well-written theory, and is my new headcanon. Although I don't think that Kaiba would willingly create the Sacred Beasts if they could be used against him - I think it's a little more likely that Kagemaru used Kaiba's technology in secret, as we know that Kaibacorp has a long history of poor security when it comes to people infiltrating and using their company's tech.

I think that makes more sense, even if kagemaru brought the idea to kaiba and he likes it, I doubt he'd actually tell kagemaru that and just develop it in secret. It's more likely kagemaru just used his tech in secret like you said

This could also work to explain why the Sacred Beasts have such unique tribute mechanics. Raviel requires Fiend monsters specifically, Uria requires Trap Cards and Hamon requires Continuous Spells. If they’re Alchemical beings, then it makes sense that their summon mechanics would require you to turn a specific something into something else. Like equivalent exchange. As opposed to the God Cards who just require a large sacrifice of other Monsters, as gods often do.

I still believe the Sacred Beasts have a strong connection to the Supreme King given Kagemaru stated he needed Jaden's soul to fully control them implying the Supreme King is the only being capable of fully controlling them and given Yubel is meant to be the King's Guardian and she absorbed so much duel energy from other duelist Jaden included this explains why she's able to control them too when she got em.

@@SaiyoNot I’d say it’s half and half. Considering he’s given Winged Kuriboh by Yugi, and he’s capable of seeing duel spirits, that’s the result of his impressive spiritual energy. But it also leaves enough room for future development, which likely ended up with him becoming the Supreme King

Kagemaru has little reason to know this about Jaden. And considering after losing to Jaden he "turns over a new life" there isn't a reason why he wouldn't inform Jaden of his Supreme King nature if that was the case.
@LeyvatenLoop
@LeyvatenLoop Жыл бұрын
The "Supreme King" that Jaden is a reincarnation of is, most likely, a reference to King Solomon (I'm not going to go into details of why right now, just check around the similarities if you guys want to know), and because of that, I believe he wanted Jaden's soul because, just as King Solomon, he was able to comunicate to, subdue and lead "demons" (AKA all sorts of powerful, independent and not necessarily evil spirits, the definition of demons back in that time was different than nowadays, it was similar to demons in traditional eastern cultures), and those abilities would be necessary to handle powerful creatures like the Sacred Beasts without the help of a equally powerful artifact like the Millenium Items
@deterlanglytone
@deterlanglytone Жыл бұрын
@@LeyvatenLoop Okay but why wouldn't he tell Jaden this? Like afterward... and how did he learn Jaden was this. A Millenium World version of The Prince of Eqypt? You'd have to convince Konami that they'd actually make money by retelling a significant story in 2 (3?) very big and active religions that would probably target specifically fans of the manga and DM era, and that profit would have to outweigh all the foreign backlash. That said, I am all for it, take my money! I swear, you put way more though into this than the actual writers of GX. But that's what makes this so great.

I came here to mention that the Three Phantasms are all named after Archangels, so good work with your research finding that Hamon = Archangel Gabriel, so now I don't need to explain that part. The card Judai used to defeat Kagemaru and the Three Phantasms, 'Sabatiel - The Philosopher's Stone' is named after Sabbathiel, an alias usd by the Archangel Michael, the chief Archangel and right hand of Yahweh. Along those lines, Raviel is probably named after Raphael rather than Raziel, meaning the 4 cards all together are named after the 4 most well known Archangels (Michael, Gabriel, Raphael, Uriel) Based on that, the lore implication seems to be that the Three Phantasms are twisted apparitions of Gabriel, Raphael and Uriel, and Sabatiel is a card forged by the power of Michael to stop them from destroying the world on Yahweh's behalf, hence why Sabatiel disintegrated after the Three Phantasms were defeated. Incidentally, the text on the Three Phantasms cards is written in Hebrew in the anime. And another Phantasm card "Phantasm Emperor Trilojig" was used by a character called Eve in the Arc-V manga, named after the Judeo-Christian Eve of the creation myth. And their field spell 'Fallen Paradise' is a corrupted version of the Garden of Eden. So the Phantasm cards are clearly very deeply connected to Hebrew mythology.

I already had a feeling that the Sacred Beasts related to Hebrew mythology rather than Egyptian mythology. But, your theory and explanation was still really interesting and actually makes sense in the context of the GX series. I myself think they’re not as evil as the Wicked Gods, but still represent the Egyptian Gods’ less virtuous aspects.
@FruityGroovy
@FruityGroovy Жыл бұрын
Interesting theory. I also proposed that the reason the Phantasm look so similar to the Egyptian Gods is meant to both display their power and mock the actual Egyptian Gods. It's kind of a similar idea to Ninetails in Okami, where the second act boss of the game sees itself as being very close to a deity similar to the various Brush Gods in the game; to the point where they'll have statues, a constellation, have a mostly white fur body with streaks of red, and even use brush techniques just like the main character, Amaterasu. It also directly mocks Amaterasu by wearing a white mask with red markings, and Ninetails' symbol is on the moon, in contrast to how Amaterasu's symbol is on the sun. However, that godhood is an illusion; It's subtly hinted at by the fact that Ninetails' white fur is noticeably off-white, dirtier than Amaterasu's pure/snow white. It's like when a toy with white plastic starts to yellow. And sure enough, once you destroy 8 out of 9 of Ninetails' tails, they're finally revealed for what they are; an old, tired red/brown, one eyed fox demon that hungers for power. Obviously, this isn't one to one applicable to the Phantasms, but I do think the mocking of the Egyptian Gods could be possible.

@cjhedrick6418
@cjhedrick6418 Жыл бұрын
The only snag I can think of in that theory is that Kaiba would be interested in creating new gods. In the first point, Kaiba was defeated despite having a god, and he strikes me as the type to say, "I'll stick with Blue-Eyes; if a God I command can be beaten, then I don't really need its power." The other point is that, English dub and filler arcs notwithstanding, I was pretty sure Kaiba intended to retire from Duel Monsters after Battle City, and focus on expanding Kaiba Land and games development. I see Kaiba leaving his mark by building Duel Academy, but I'd suspect that Kagemaru decided to take advantage of that; and then Kaiba just letting him get away with it, since he DID wager ownership Duel Academy on a single duel, and he was cocky enough to think any student from his school could defeat Kagemaru anyway.
@JakeSmith-mq5dc
@JakeSmith-mq5dc Жыл бұрын
That's possible. I like to believe it's just Kaiba fiddling with things he shouldn't fiddle around with and possibly spiting Pegasus' warning. He messes with a little bit of everything involving the future, but he could've dabbled in the past with the same goals in mind. After all, it's not like he didn't learn ANYTHING from his time with the Pharoah or ancient Egypt. It was worthy of an investment. Just like the Dueling monkey was worthy of an investment. I mean he already figured out how to make a Duel Spirit in his likeness. The Egyptian Gods are most definitely worth looking into and that field of research might've been what yielded the Kaibaman spirit result. I could see him either tinker with it, but not be nearly as invested as his co-founder was or just have a team of his tinker with it for him as he is busy laying the groundwork for the other sequels.

Another idea, Kaiba was the only duelist to successfully use a God card without a millennium item! If he had developed them, it seems to me that he could use the cards without the school. Though the cards being hommunculi makes sense that they would require additional soul energy to be used
@Spirit_of_Yubel
@Spirit_of_Yubel Жыл бұрын
The implications of Egyptian God usage is more implied to be defined by one of 2 factors: -Being a Millennium Item Wielder. -Having ancient connections to the Pharaoh Lineage. Odeon and Mai muddle things a bit, but... To note first: Strings' history (at least in the Anime) is just as blank as he is. However, he suffered no ill effects of summoning Slifer The Sky Dragon. I wager that it's because he was being controlled by Marik. In a way, that duel as a whole was technically a duel between Marik and Yugi, with Strings being Marik's physical proxy and would be protected by the Millennium Rod's power, and subsequently count as the first factor. Odeon's condition was caused by not only filling neither of these requirements (Not being related to the Pharaoh's Lineage at all, and not have any real Millennium Items proper), but was also using a fake Winged Dragon of Ra copy (Considering the cards are sentient, Ra themselves aint happy about that as a whole and went ham on Odeon, with Joey being a bit of collateral damage.) It was stated that Marik had copies of Ra produced and tested, but those who tried to use the Ra copy didn't make it at all, so it's clear that there's more to the Egyptian Gods as a whole. Mai represents a unique twist. She managed to get her hands on The Winged Dragon of Ra from Yami Marik mid-duel, and managed to summon it. Yet she wasn't immediately zapped by Ra. The big implication was that it's a sort of "Failsafe" to ensure the Egyptian Gods weren't used against the above points, but I think it's a little more, too. Going back to the Cards being Sentient point, I wager it was a unique (if one-sided) test by Ra itself. Marik was technically foolish enough to have Ra pulled from him, giving a layer of incompetence ("If you can't keep tabs on me, why should I follow you?" in a way), and wanted to see if the new user was truly worthy of Ra's power, hence the Ancient Chant suddenly appearing. If Mai could speak the chant, then she could prove she was worthy of Ra's full might. It would also explain why Marik, Bakura, and Yugi don't have to recite the chant every time Ra's played: Since they fit at least one of those criteria, Ra skips the Chant requirement and just pops out when called. Kaiba fits both the bills. His ancestor, Seto, was seen having wielded the Millennium Rod and was appointed Pharaoh by Atem himself via being given the Millennium Puzzle. So in a way, Kaiba could make use of the Rod and Puzzle, and if I recall, was Atem's cousin, so he was personally connected to that Lineage by birthright still. From the start of the Battle City arc, it was clear that Kaiba had connections to the ancient past due to appearing on the Pharaoh's Tablet, but the full extent wasn't really apparent. But through subtle interactions, alongside story revelations, it's made apparent that Kaiba's usage of the Egyptian Gods is due to having that proper, personal link to them despite Kaiba's "I'm just that good!" attitude to brush it off.

This video blew me away. I love the original Egyptian God cards. The lore behind them, the meaning behind their original names, and the story that revolves around them. The way Mr. Kazuki Takahashi seamlessly wove history, fantasy, horror, and gaming together to create the original Yugioh manga is why I firmly believe is why I keep returning to this series. I remember being frustrated when I was younger with GX because it lacked that. (I’ve been recommended the manga and plan to read it soon since apparently it’s closer to what I might be looking for). My biggest frustration was how the “Sacred Beasts” felt shallow. They felt like cheap clones to cash in on the original Egyptian god card’s popularity. That said I always wondered if they were meant to be Hebrew based of their names and symbols on the keys, however I never found any official evidence on it nor a satisfactory official backstory so I gave up on trying to figure them out. Recently I got back into Speed Duel and got the new GX box. I was surprised when I found Kagemaru’s speed duel deck had a field card that looks like a fallen version of Eden… and that reawakened my curiosity. I’m glad I bumped into this video. It’s a fascinating theory and the alchemy detail helps fit it in together. If I remember correctly Alchemy is a Medieval invention based of the Sefer Zohar. As I typed all this I realized maybe 4kids might have been on to something? I mean “Sacred” Beasts.

Marik coming back as an adult and getting repossessed by his evil side, would have been perfect in GX to claim the sacred beasts cards (after Jaden beat water capsule boy) , so he, evil marik, can finally conquer the world. He was afterall after the Egyptian god cards to complete this task, and this would have been the perfect substitute for his vengeance almost 10 years later. Which in the show could have reignited a feud between him and Kaiba, as Kaiba created all this GX stuff to begin with to have the sacred beasts for himself, is threatened with Marik having them... where the show after explaining everything you said in this video.. gives us the ultimate duel between kaiba and marik we always wanted since battle city. Edit: Also, considering Hebrews weren't actually the slaves in Egypt like they claim they were (only place in history that mentions that is torah and bible which both were written by them so it isnt very credible) actual scholars and documents show they were actually the Hyksos people who took over Egypt after 1700BC and ruled it as their puppet state for 300 or so years and the last hyksos Pharoah even tried to banish all Egyptian gods to instate monotheism in real Egyptian history until they were finally driven out by a native Egyptian Pharoah in 1200bc or so where the Hyksos later wrote the stories we all know of how they were enslaved etc in their fairytale moses story to seem like the victims & good guys... means the Yu-Gi-oh idea that the sacred beasts were carbon copies of the Egyptian gods by Hebrew (hyksos) alchemists to use them as their Trump card and take over Egypt for themselves is a BRILLIANT theory !!!

That's probably the best explanation for the sacred beasts I've ever seen, it always frustrated me that they are so obviously related to the egyprian gods in some form, but it is never acknoledged by the anime. I don't know if you plan to continue making yugioh lore videos, but if you do, I recommend the yugioh deities and their relations t each other. How do Horakthy, the Numeron Dragon, Zorc, the Light of Destruction, Zorc, the Leviathan etc, fit together in the yugioh cosmology. Some of them are obvioulsy related, like how Horakthy and Zorc are probably enemies, and Darkness (or Nightshroud) seems like the opposite of the Light of Destruction (like an extreme version of the Gentle Darkness), but like with the sacred beats, it's never brought up or properly explained

When you were talking about who made the cards in the anime and you brought up Industrial Illusions, I’m surprised you didn’t bring up Pegasus designing the Rainbow Dragon card that was on a tablet while Duel Academy was stuck in a different dimension. Obviously Pegasus wasn’t in the different dimension, but the Rainbow Dragon card was powerful enough to get Duel Academy back. That and Pegasus certainly has style when designing cards himself.

I do love this theory, and it makes a lot of sense from a lore perspective. As a Jewish man myself, I appreciate the idea behind the plot... even if the very Hebrew Alchemy Homunculi were used as tools by the villains of the arc, but that's kind of been our plight throughout history anyway, so it checks out >_> Yet another reason this theory makes a lot of sense. But in general, I just really like that the Sacred Beasts are effectively Golems for the protection of the hebrew people. And their power even directly ties into the events from the book. Uriel of Searing Flames would've been responsible for the tornado of fire that kept the armies of the Pharaoh at bay. A forefather of Atem and his father Akenaten. But as far as I'm aware? Akenaten was the one that performed the milennium ritual that constructed the 7 Milennium Items, and they used it to beat back a Kushian invasion. Then the items passed down to the court of his son when his reign began. And Atem, at the end of his reign, locked the shadow magic away, so that means that there was a very limited window for the jewish population to have copied them and left, but we know that that happened after the events of Atem's rule anyway. The only way they could predate it is if the Milennium Book that contained the information on how to make the items was constructed/written within that 300 years that SpellCommander mentions.
@Ramona122003
@Ramona122003 Жыл бұрын
Small correction. Akenaten (spelled Akhenaden or Aknadin using the dub) was Atem's uncle. So it wasn't passed down to his son Seto until after Atem died and the items were sealed. To add to this, the gods were nameless until Atem summoned him, meaning he was the only Pharaoh to use the gods and they were sealed by the grave keepers that were created by Seto. They were so well hidden by the grave keeper's magic that Pegasus couldn't find them until Shadi showed him using his Millennium Key. The Millennium Book is indeed old (we don't know how old), but it's stated in both the manga and anime that no one could read it until Aknadin and he only could read one spell. And the manga explains this as Zorc manipulating Aknadin to created the items so he could enter the world.

In the games Tag Force 5 and Tag Force 6, there's a little girl with red hair named Alice Uria who uses the Sacred Beasts (and favors Uria). even though TF5 and TF6 are 5ds games, Alice Uria is grouped with the GX characters in Tag Force Special. Furthermore, Alice Uria IS in Tag Force 4 (the first 5ds TF game) but looks completely different. She didn't even have red hair in TF4. There's a theory that Alice Uria is actually Uria itself in human form. The fact that Alice (and some other characters) got complete makeovers in TF5 compared to TF4 could mean that they were planned to have anime appearances in 5ds, which would mean the Sacred Beasts would've returned in 5ds as well. The Sacred Beasts disappear after Jaden duels Yubel in season 3 of GX, and we're not in Jaden's deck in season 4, so they were presumably left in the other dimension. Going by the "Alice is Uria" theory, the Sacred Beasts could've returned in 5ds by taking human form in order to return to our dimension.

11:40 This is only the case if you take the ~3000 years ago figure to be true, then yes Exodus occurred about 300 years beforehand. However, the manga explicitly calls out Atem as being born in the Eighteenth Dynasty, which is between the mid 1500s BC to the early 1200s BC (early in this case being 1292 at latest). So it's likely that either Atem either predates the events posed in Exodus, they happened during his lifetime, or Exodus almost immediately followed Atem's life (a popular theory is that Atem's death is the end of the 18th Dynasty in that universe, as the irl Pharaoh Horemheb had no sons and appointed a vizier as his successor, who later assumed the throne under the name Ramesses I) Otherwise superb video, love the work put in on this. First things first, an excellent job doing the research for the lore on these cards. I envy the people who work at Konami who do the original research on these topics, the people who create the cards and effects to resemble the lore and the ability to inspire us to investigate the lore and history of our favorite cards. Your analysis has inspired my thoughts and I want to share my lore about these cards with you. We know that in ancient Egypt stone tablets were created and contain monsters. Some are doorways to the "Monster World." Others were created by people merging their spirits and Ka together. For example, Mana becomes the Dark Magician Girl, Mahad becomes the Dark Magician and Kisara becomes The Maiden with Eyes of Blue. We know that the gods and goddesses of the ancient world were jealous and vain, so it would be proper for them to create tablets of their own likeness and power. Some of these tablets were created for protection and others were created to show dominance. Ra probably created the Egyptian God tablets to symbolize different pieces of himself. Birth, life and death. Using the Egyptian Gods, the Egyptians expanded their influence, culture and dominance across the land. Seeing his children oppressed and put into slavery, Almighty God sent three of his archangels to talk to Moses and to help his children gain their freedom. Knowing of the Egyptian God tablets, God created three tablets of his own. The Sacred Beast tablets. He created one tablet for each archangel and created a tether joining them to one of the Egyptian God tablets. Knowing that his archangels were much stronger, the tether was created for protection only. The Sacred Beasts would inherit the looks, traits and abilities of the Egyptian Gods they were attached to. Defense, not offense. The best defense is a mirror copy of the original. Ra was jealous and angered by the creation of these Beasts. The spirit and beauty of the archangels shown through them and made his own creations look inferior. Ra ordered his servants to find and destroy the Sacred Beast tablets. Soldiers ransacked the slave communities until they found the tablets. They started to destroy the tablets, but stopped and were scared with the arrival of the first plague. The Jewish people were able to rescue the tablets and carry them away as they fled from Egypt. The damage from the soldiers caused the Sacred Beasts to have their current appearance. Not completely happy, Ra found enjoyment from their new grotesque features. That is how they were created, how were they made into cards? Pegasus brought the Egyptian Gods to life under the protection of his Millennium Eye. He had no way of knowing about the tether between the Egyptian Gods and the Sacred Beasts. The magic flowed through this connection and resurrected the Sacred Beasts at the same time. No amount of magic could repair the damage to them. Pegasus didn't even know that they even existed. Why did these cards need to be charged with duel energy to wake up and gain strength? I think that this was a misconception. If my lore is true, then these cards gain their power because they were designed to protect. The more people feel overwhelmed, oppressed, inferior or suffering, like kids at school, caused the Sacred Beasts to awaken. Unfortunately, the wrong person acquired them for different reasons. He was able to rejuvenate his body from the spirits of the archangels, perhaps mostly from Raphael, which means God heals. Raphael is also the lover of Amitiel. Is there a connection? Anyways, the creation of the fusion monster for the Egyptian Gods and the fusion monster for the Sacred Beasts is the real mystery. Where did they come from? I believe that they are only able to appear when they are needed. As Goku taught Gohan, becoming a Super Saiyan is a need, not a desire.

"We know that in ancient Egypt stone tablets were created and contain monsters. Some are doorways to the "Monster World"." The anime used the manga explanation that was introduced in Millennium World. Namely, the monsters on the tablets from Egypt are human Ka taking from evil people. Not doorways to the monster world. "Others were created by people merging their spirits and Ka together. For example, Mana becomes the Dark Magician Girl" Mana didn't merged her Ka with her Ba to make Dark Magician Girl. That is just her natural Ka. Unlike Mahad who Ka was the Magus of Illusions. "Kisara becomes The Maiden with Eyes of Blue." The Maiden with Eyes of Blue has no anime counterpart, so it's questionable if it even existed in the Yugioh World. "Using the Egyptian Gods, the Egyptians expanded their influence, culture and dominance across the land." We know this wasn't the case because Atem was the only Pharaoh to control the gods. The Egyptians didn't even know the gods' names before Atem summoned them and they were sealed after Atem died. And Atem was born hundreds of years before any form of Moses.

You’d think the Egyptian Gods would be more upset about bootleg versions of them being created. But they probably took one look at them and were like “Not worth our time”.

While it would be understandable for Pegasus to be worried about creating more god-like cards and he should avoid it, however we also know that Pegasus isn't cautious. We also know that Pegasus has a secret lab where they continue experimenting and have even created a fake Rah card as well as means of controlling the God cards. Considering he just shows up and takes students occasionally, he also seems like he's on good terms with the school and would have the knowledge and expertise to create the Sacred Beast. Them not having any energy may have even been a control method during the process so the Sacred Beasts couldn't hurt other people while they were being made

At least in the dub, I'm pretty sure that Pegasus' copy of The Winged Dragon of Ra was meant for Card R&D. Considering up to Yugi's acquisition of Ra, it was pulling new abilities borderline left and right. It stands to reason that such a card would be integral to furthering the game as a whole. As for why it doesn't just zap everyone...Well, Ra's initial purpose is done, and with Atem and the other two Egyptian Gods, departed with the Pharaoh to the Afterlife. But if new threats emerged, it would be handy to have the means of combating them without relying on the Egyptian Gods and their power. It's why "Mound of the Bound Creator" was necessary for Ra to be summoned: In order to allow Ra to be used without adverse effects by someone not related to the Pharaoh's Lineage or under the protection of a Millennium Item, something to hold back and contain the immense power of the Egyptian Gods would be necessary even if by force. ....In a small way, that duel could also showcase some possible foreshadowing. Yeah, you can justify Ra not immediately zapping Jaden as an on-the-spot decision by Ra for sweeter retribution. Or, perhaps Ra sensed something within Jaden that indicated some sort of "Power", thus Jaden may have been indirectly worthy of Ra's loyalty, however brief it was.

It's amazing how much of this I just low key understood despite not researching. I think you are definitely right and also thought Kaibas influence on gx was no coincidence and he was the most likely culprit behind creating the sacred beasts especially since he lost obelisk from yugi in battle city. Also the shadow riders having new millennium artifacts I think adds to this theory greatly. Well done as always. I've always wanted to see a spin off series with Jaden again when he is older and more in tune with the Supreme king angle with yubel and seeing a lot more fusion support in the past few years some part of me hopes to see that develop someday but with Takahashi gone who knows.

One time i got a theory idea, and it never left my head, what if the protagonists of yugioh series are actually the bad guys and they don't know it, because they keep defending dueling, while dueling is known since season one to have dark magic origins, they are literally defending and keeping a game that is basically a portal to deep old magic that can strike at any moment, and bad guys have used it multiple times to try and take over the world, but, they keep the game around because .. it's fun ?, and the cherry on top, when paradox in the bbt movie literally said that dueling will destroy the world and he made it his missions to end the game, they fought him anyway without resolving the big problem he brought up, idk, i am sure you'll find many more ground to this theory with more reasearch, cheers!

Honestly I think it’s a missed opportunity to not have the sacred beasts be directly related to Zork and the Millennium Spell Book. Would have been cool to this is where the book ended up and someone else managed to translate a different part of the book. A page or two depicting the sacred beasts.

I thought the names of the Sacred Beasts sounded strangely Aramaic in their pronunciation. At the time I watched GX I largely wrote them off as “oh cool, this series’s God Monster equivalent, that’s interesting” and not helped by the fact they didn’t have nearly as much backstory attributed to them as the original three gods. Nice work!

Honestly very well thought and I had already figured something similar based on there names but I would have never thought that alchemy was the reasoning. Loved the video super catching 🙏🏾

This is extremely well researched for the most part and an awesome theory but there are some mistakes & ideas I wanna point out: 1. Pegasus was in fact not interested in creating cards as powerful as the Egyptian Gods again, but that only applies for dueling purposes, he was interested in creating replicas of them in order to be able to research, which might not fully leave him out of the debate in being somewhat involved in the creation of these cards, but under the idea that Pegasus knew of the existence of these cards I strongly believe he'd be against creating them for dueling purposes, "With excessive power comes excessive tragedy", as he said in GX. 2. We actually see a live procedure of the creation of a card in Season 3 when Pegasus creates Rainbow Dragon in order to help the people trapped in the other dimension 3. As others have pointed out, the specific summoning requirements of the Sacred Beasts are very fitting for alchemy thematics 4. I don't believe Kaiba would actually do anything like that despite his pursuit of power and his wish to battle Atem again, as others have semi pointed out I believe it is much more likely that he was shown the cards, ordered Kagemaru to seal them and then Kagemaru faked the sealing and created the school alongside Seto, who was not aware of its double purpose as a battle & feeding ground for the Sacred Beasts, which I think is more solidified when you consider the Manjome brothers conflict from Season 1 again. If the Island truly held such insane importance to Kaiba, he would've never even gambled with it by leaving its hands into Chazz's hands, he extremely confidently and proudly believes that the duelists of the next generation and of his Academy will be able to protect it from the Manjome brothers, which I believe is way more in line with his way of thinking, because while Kaiba wants to be the best, he also loves the thrill & excitement of dueling, so genuinely training stronger duelists I think is much more in line with his desires than creating more powerful cards 5. Kaiba is already representative of an Egyptian god, Seth, and while Yugioh takes A LOT of mythology and implements it into the series, I doubt a dual representation of both the Ancient Egyptians and a partial creator of the Sacred Beasts for the Hebrew people was intended for Kaiba

yugioh moses is actually not completely out of question. if you guys remember the capsule monsters series we saw yugi fight alexander the great in his pyramid. If they were willing to use historical figures like Alex I’m sure a Moses existing is more than plausible and would actually help fill in some plot holes

The thing about Kaiba is, that he is almost a Millennium Item himself. Like Yugi he is a reincarnation. But Priest Seto's strongest magic was not his Millennium Rod but the power of the Blue-Eyes White Dragon. He was choosen by the Maid of the Dragons Kisara. The Pharao bounds the Gods with their and his own name. Priest Shimon bounded Exodia by splitting it in 5 parts. But the Dragons grant Seto all their power because they choose him.

This actually makes even more sense if you consider the newer support for the Sacred Beasts in the TCG - namely their field spell "Fallen Paradise" which looks... a whole lot like a decaying Garden of Eden with the Tree of Good and Evil. This lends further credence that the Sacred Beasts are copies of the Archangels and pair thematically with the Fallen/Darklord/Forbidden Artifact archetypes.

Not a bad theory. And we know from GX that an inferoir copy of Ra had been made as well, so "phantasms" as you've pointed out could be responsible for both the inferior copy and teh Sacred Beasts
