I went into this video expecting a rant about why ritual summoning is an outdated and slow mechanic, left with a PHD in Yu-Gi-Oh lore.

I don’t care how viable rituals are, eating a monster with Relinquished is always cool.

I like it how everything in the YuGiOh series can be summed up to "Screw the Rules, I am Seto F***ing Kaiba"

Ritual Summon is one of the more "unique" summoning methods which makes them more interesting as you need to build a Deck around them and not just use them as an engine or toolbox

I love how you go into the lore of the world instead of focusing on game mechanics.

I feel like rituel monsters were flawed prototypes of Synchro monsters.

We all know its really because nekroz started a war so large nobody ever wanted to speak of rituals again

It is pretty funny to imagine. Kaiba making the nessesary technology and drafting first concepts and then pegasus just comes along and says "aight, let's do that. I have nothing better to do anyways"

when you think about it, it could add another difference between Kaiba and Yugi, Kaiba uses Machinery in a Very Orderly fashion. meanwhile Yugi relies on Magic, which is literally powered by chaos

Kite used ritual summoning. He was the Ritual Summoning prodigy of Zexal. He ritual summoned an insane 1 time. That's more than most people who can't count can count to.

I think if ritual monsters were in the extra deck instead of the main deck and we just need the spells cards in the main deck to summon them everyone would use rituals a lot more. And perhaps ritual becomes the best summons in the game xD

The next series after 7s should focus on Rituals. Imagine the characters tapping into the ritual magic and finding out about the apparent multiverse Yu-Gi-Oh! has? Rituals being the new mechanic would do wonders for a long forgotten play style. I use a ritual deck in Duel Links but I thinks I could use one in real life or even Link Evolution. But yes, rituals should come back. If Konami can make support for Gia and Buster Blader, they can make one for rituals.

Back in the old days of yugioh, I think ritual summoning is a bit easier than fusion summoning. Because fusion monsters, especially generic ones with no effects and a terrible ATK/DEF, requires a list of specific fusion material and a spell card call polymerization. With ritual summoning you'll only need a ritual monster and a ritual spell card that is specific to that monster.

It was cool in the first incarnation of the game because you can summon an amazing monster in one turn if you have the proper cards in your hand. Nowadays the game is too fast paced and it's not worth bothering with because there is usually a more powerful card with a better effect that could be summoned with less hassle. Back in the day it was a bit more convenient circumstantially than Fusion since you could tribute anything, which was cool. You DID however need the specific magic/spell AND monster card in your hand per ritual summon you wanted to do. Meanwhile polymerization works with any Fusion and summons the fused monster immediately from the Fusion deck, so running multiple Ritual monsters was a huge headache while Fusion actually rewarded you more the more you built the deck around getting out Fusion monsters.

Ritual Monsters should be moved to the extra deck, and someone had to say it.

I think you’re forgetting that nekroz is one of the best decks of all time. Although they’ve been power crept from the meta, negating all extra deck effects with unicore can shut down a majority of decks, trishula can be an absolute threat. They have incredible consistency with brionac and clausolus, also the jin lock was just stupid too. Saying rituals are under represented may be true, but with nekroz making an almost tier 0 format makes rituals have an amazing history in this game just with a single archetype!

I have to admit I almost didn't click on this video because I thought it would just be a meta analysis of the physical tcg. But man am I glad I did because I love lore theories! You should consider putting a lore tag in the title like to make it more obvious. A video this good deserves more attention!

It's interesting to note that, in the Manga, the only people to ever use Ritual Monsters were people who possessed Millenium Items - Yami Yugi and Pegasus. Bandit Keith never summoned "Zera The Mant" and Noah never existed, so he could never summon "Shinato". Okay, that's not entirely true. Umbra and Lumis summoned "The Masked Beast", another Ritual Monster. However, I believe it's entirely plausible, that Marik simply channeled his own Chaos Energy (or that stored in the Millenium Rod) to Umbra and Lumis, granting them the Choas Energy needed to perform a Ritual Summon. Especially when you consider that the Millenium Rod is the only Millenium Item we know of, which is confirmed to have the power to manipulate other people's minds. If this is the case, it would also lend some credence to my head-canon that Chaos Energy is required in order to summon Exodia. Think of it. Yami Yugi is the first person to ever summon Exodia, and he has the Millenium Puzzle. And then, all of a sudden, not even months later, one of Marik's Rare Hunters successfully summons Exodia as well? Seems a little too coincidental for a card that's supposedly impossible to summon, doesn't it?

Love Ritual summon plus the idea of seeing a world where Egypt remind in power and made it to the modern (yugioh) era sound interesting.

The thing is that not only you need the ritual spell, but you ALSO need a monster with the same level AND the monster itself. Sometimes it's not worth it.

It should also be noted that power creep was a thing and because of certain issues (like cards not magically appearing), certain cards in the anime could be considered way more powerful than possible in a game where things can't fully fuse.

I really love this ish. It's such a captivating look into lore basic solely in the dm shadow games and synchro summon energy use (mainly this). This is my canon cause it makes so much sense with the series logic

What I think of ritual summoning is: I don't care, but I have a friend who only uses a Blue Eyes Chaos Max Dragon deck and I'm so bored unless I have epidemic virus on the field and a monster with 2500or more ATK to kill almost his entire hand

I feel like if you could summon ritual monsters from the extra deck, the archetype/playing style would probably be more popular

I always wondered why the Ritual monsters were not stored with the fusions or by latter revisions, moved there once Sinchro turned it into the generic "Extra deck"... Having to pull the Ritual spell while only needing the tributes would've simplified the whole affair greatly.

I like this idea that divided manga Kaiba and Anime Kaiba is that closure by watching Yugi beat Atem, he was able to develop a new method of summoning, one that forced evolution and propelled forward. But Manga Kaiba, bound to the past and still bent on being willing to sacrifice anyone to get what he wants, he was bound to the ancient ways, stuck in the past, and embraced the Chaos form Ritual to enhance his dragon.

Ritual summoning costs you 2 cards (Tribute monster and spell) and the many Ritual monsters are bad, not mentioned they are unsearchable Notable good Ritual deck is Nekroz and the new one that I rarely see that is Megalith that can ritual summon by discarding itself and tribute it to summon another Megalith Also that Herald needs to mentioned because it can negate so much time

Even though they’re not competitive, and usually take a minimum of a minus-3 in card advantage to summon, they’re just......BLUE. They are the best looking cards in the game (in my opinion of course). They do the color blue justice. Oh, and Link monsters? Get your own color, you ugly red-arrowed _pointy boys_

I feel like the ritual dimension would just be the Nekroz dimension, it's so odd that there are so few ritual cards yet they have one of the most dominant decks of all time. I wish Konami would make some more

There wouldn't be a ritual dimension. Rituals are in the standard dimension as well as in the fusion dimension, therefore we can assume ritual summoning is considered "standard" at least in the sense that since it resides in the main deck, it is no different than the other monsters that reside with them. Plus, each dimension formed themselves around each of the four parts of Zarc, who used the four main types of summoning (standard, fusion, synchro, and xyz) and never used a ritual monster. (keep in mind, I actually love ritual monsters)

They should make a series of ritual summoning like the other shows. Cuz in yugioh the first show no one really did use them.

My only problem with this theory is your explanation on kaiba making synchro monsters as we have evidence that synchro monsters did exist within the duel monsters spirit world, evidence being ancient fairy dragons presense there, my whole theory is that within the original duel monster spirit world lives the normal, effect, and synchro monsters, as for ritual and fusion, well I can only imagine things like contact fusion existing within the spirit world since what monster there would be able to create polymerization or any other respective fusion spell card (if there are any monsters that treat themselves as polymerization let me know so I can try to come up with and explanation for this) as for rituals I beleive that they exist within there own dimension similar to the spirit world but they are different because they were banished there by whatever diety was currently ruling over the spirit world at the time either being something like dark magician girl (dm season 4) or ancient fairy dragon, this is why you need to sacrifice monsters that have a certain amount strength (level) to bring them back from the gates of hell they were condemned too, as for synchros my theory is that each monster gives off a certain frequency and that tuner monsters are just the best at controlling that frequency (the different frequencies are different amongst different levels) which is why when two monsters frequencies can match or murge it hyper evolves them into a brand new monsters which ties into your last theory, now xyz have there own kind of dimension with the numeron code and all the stuff you also said in your last vid (I also highly enjoyed that one) and pendulums were created by the sway of good and evil between Zarc and the other chic who's name who I cant be bothered to remember right now. Now as for evidence of link monsters existing in the spirit world? I got nothing, honestly I wish we have gotten more of an explanation on where link monsters came from like we got with xyz but I think the main assumption is that link monsters just like, exclusively exist in the link vrains and the only ones that are actualy alive per say are the cyberse link monsters made by the ignis

I really wished there was a Ritual Dimension that debut in Arc-V and if it had to be set in the time of the ancient egyptians and kings of the ancient years it would've been interesting to see that Ritual Yuya was a prince of that dimension with a ritual monster looking like a miniature version of Zarc For his Deck I would've gave him the Gishki archetype while the Ritual Yuzu uses the Nekroz

I just love how thematic ritual, tribute and fusion summon are. Tribute Summon: A Monster which is so powerful that it requires a sacrifice from you to do your biding. Ritual Summon: There monsters which can only be brought forth by a magical ritual and the proper offerings. Fusion Summon: Two Monsters combine their Powers become a new Monster which still has features of the fused Monsters. Its just such a shame that every viable Special summoning Method lacks that thematic fantasy. Synchro: Hedgehog + Sword Dude = Dragon Its not that i don't like the synchro mechanic. I just wish they had put more thought into it and made it more thematic. Synchro is just a contact fusion which creates weird results.
