I can guarantee that Piston fans are also questioning why Monty is starting Killian over Ivey. Some have reasoned that Monty wants to implement a defense first offense and Killian is a better defender of the two. But even so, on a team with poor spacing, Ivey is much needed for this offense. And rumors say that there is contention between Monty and the front office over Killian starting over Ivey. Cade does have kinks in his game, such as the turnovers and making bad decisions when doubled. However, he is probably one of our best shooters He's a pretty good decision maker on offense and defense. He plays great off the ball. Cade is a franchise player. Just not sure he'll be able to live up to that potential on the Detroit Pistons, as currently constructed.

The rebuild already failed in 2020 when they missed out on Haliburton. Cade is still the right choice at #1. He's playing really well with more spacing. Ivey reminds me more of Rodney Stuckey, so they missed out on Mathurin & Sharpe in 2022 again Cade & Ausar are the only locks. I'm high on Duren, but not on the Pistons since a shooting Center like Myles Turner would fit this team better. Duren, Ivey, Bojan, Burks, (Hayes), Sasser and some Picks are high-value assets, so their future could be brighter than it actually seems like. AJ Griffin is out of the rotation in ATL, he could be a great fit for example like Nesmith or Reddish do for the Pacers/Lakers.

Hayes belongs at the end of the bench, Sasser is better too

Cade has limitations for sure, but he also is working with the worst possible lineup for his skills. He's a drive and Dish playmaker who has one good shooter who's been out with injury. That's also why I'm worried about the fit between him an Thompson, actually. Cade with one non-shooting big can work OK, but also having a wing who can't shoot is going to cause problems no matter how good he is on defense.

Pure death spiral. They've been bad for so long no one would want to play for them. If u can't get quality free agents you can only rely on drafts and trades. But since the team is so bad none of the players stand out as great trade prospects. So they can only really draft but how can you keep your drafted players on the team if the team sucks so bad they look awful and hate playing there. Its a lose lose situation. They need to draft a solid talent from the area who's determined to make the team great again and can carry the franchise. Or stumble on a superstar who wants his own team and a huge bag of money. I don't see either of those happening anytime soon.

Hayes is one of the better perimeter defenders in the league. Ivey is one of the worst. Hayes is also a solid passer and set-up man, and he can bring the ball up under pressure at a high level. Ivey is none of that. Give Hayes Ivey's shooting and scoring instincts, or give Ivey Hayes' best attributes, and you have a great young player. They are both half of an NBA player, and the hope is that they both improve on those weaknesses. For now, that looks unlikely.
