Parliament is a reflection of its people. If they are not asking questions, then it's we the people who have failed. Not MPs

Diana Gichengo, Okia Omtata, Jimmy Wanjigi, Cyprian Nyamwamu - these are the only Kenyans (in prominent positions) advocating for transparency/auditing of our debt situation. It's mind boggling that Kenyans are not rallying behind them !

i honestly and absolutely respect latiff for asking the hard questions. sir, you are inspiring a generation. don't stop. we're right behind you. we need answers to these hard questions. that ending was legendary. i don't think they've thought that far ahead. failure to plan is planning to fail.

Diana, keep up the great work. We have to be engaged as citizens in advocating for responsible debt use, borrowing, and overall efficient debt management in this country.

I hold my comments for Latif who is obviously only interested in the 1 shilling reduction in petrol for Kenya Kwanza. Kenyans are in odious debt with no development outcomes tied to it. Its time to get those signatures and present them to the speaker of the house. All we need to know is where is the money and what has it accomplished? If nothing then we aren't paying.

I appreciate your conversation and I think you’re the best informants that we have in Kenya. I do want to emphasize that I commend the government for giving us those good rates on bonds, besides making the bidding purely digital. I do agree though that audits and checks ought to be done.

This seems to be one of the only shows that seems to cover the debt situation thoroughly. From Wanjigi, the Ghanian mp to this recent interview. I remember Wanjigi handing over some documents here. You should make a point of publishing those documents. But still kudos guys, keep up the good work.

this whole conversation was covered exhaustively by both Wanjigi & Omtata. what are we going to do about it is where we are stuck. I am still waiting for someone with a solid proposal on the way to force those in public office to do the needful and if they don't because they surely don't want to, what do we do. I will support solid proposals and help mobilise for it.

I am an accountant and I know what happens during audit. The first thing an auditor does is to test the systems, whether they're strong or weak. From there they check whether those systems are followed and if not why? While they're checking on the why, the weaknesses etc, they find out the thefts, the scandals etc. That's why wakina Kimani Ichungwah and the other Kimani MP for Molo, the Nyoros know exactly what the audit of the debts will reveal! Parliament will be guilty, the Executive even more and there will be a total collapse of the system! It will be the end of government. Why a person like Mbadi is silent, I don't know

Who in their right mind pays 18%?? Only when desperate for cash.

High interest rates imply high risks, and because Kenya is lower-middle income there is no access to concessional borrowing. Eventually, Kenya will default and then the IMF will come for rescue. This rescue will be conditional on reforms. Those reforms will secrew everyone.

I have a question to anyone. What about if the original debt was for a specific development and then at maturity you were unable to repay, is it OK to take another loan to repay that loan?

Voters really have to wake up to the fact that we have responsibilities. We have a catastrophic problem of voter ignorance. We can point fingers at Uhuru, zakayo but ultimately its the responsibility and the fault of those that empower them, citizens

The problem with what this lady is saying is that it is going over the head of the largest segment of the Kenyan voter ( unsophisticated, politically illiterate, low income, poor). A thug like Ruto knows that. The answer to Kenya’s endless corruption is the legitimate growth of a well educated middle class voter so as to vote in people with a true calling to serve the Kenyan citizenry. In the meantime, smart people like this lady need to package what they are saying differently and figure out how to get the message across to the poor, low income majority voter.
