i find her video again after around 5 years since the very first time her cooking video was recommended on my feed. She looks totally unchanged, I mean how she could look as young as she was 5 years ago,, still that young and still cooks passionately. Love Maangchi a lot.

This was the first Korean dish I ever had, almost 10 years ago. I was away from home by myself for school, and one day, I ended up at a restaurant run by a Korean family that had a small Korean section on their menu. It was always served with tofu instead of egg. It was so comforting to eat, somehow it felt like home.

Thanks for sharing. My grandson loves food with kimchi in it.😊 Your cooking brings back memories of my mother cooking. She would be 104 now. She died when I was nine. My mother did a lot to foods to make them work for Korean food. She had to improvise a lot back then. I've made some adjustments to my kimchi based upon a recipe from one of your older videos. My grandson was thinking that I would buy kimchi at the Asian store like his mother does. I got the cabbage out and worked the pepper seasoning and place it into 2 gallon jars. My grandson's eyes got really big and he was amazed. A month later he came over again and ate nothing but kimchi and rice. He's three😊. These days my daughter brings me things from the Korean store in Seattle before driving 5 hours to see me. My grandson thinks I'm a super hero because I cook from scratch. He tells me that my food is better than the Korean restaurants his mother takes him to.

I make it a point to keep my kitchen simple even though I like to cook many different cuisines. So I use rice wine vinegar in any recipe which calls for vinegar -- it replaces red wine vinegar, white vinegar, etc. I use rice wine in any recipe which has any form of light-color cooking wine. At the same time, I don't use shiitake mushroom anymore, I just use the western style button mushrooms for anything that needs mushrooms. Tahini replaces all nut butters, etc. So, where I'm going with this? Well, thanks to your videos, I use gochugaru anytime a recipe has any form of red pepper powder as an ingredient. For example, my Ethiopian berbere spice blend for lentils (misir wat) uses gochugaru. Gochugaru is now the "standard" red pepper powder in my kitchen, and it's fabulous. Thanks, Maangchi!

Looks great! In college, I had a roommate from South Korea. I'm so glad I found this channel because now I can make my own Korean food since there aren't Korean restaurants nearby! We used to drive 100 miles to get to a Korean grocery store and restaurant in college every weekend, because my roommate missed Korean food so much!

I love all your videos - and would love to make it a two-person party if I lived next to you! You seem very nice. I lived in Seoul for two years and I was so happy as Korean food, especially all kinds of kimchi, is my favourite. I have to say that when I make this it is less watery and I add some zucchini (hobak) and tofu. I am making it tonite and I will use the lettuce leaf as wrappers. :)
