Ursula is a surprisingly important character for Peter's development in these movies. His life steadily falls apart during the second movie, and he can't catch a break in even the smallest interactions, but when Ursula offers to share cake with him, it's this nice breath of fresh air for the movie and is the start of him turning things around. A small act of kindness with nothing expected in return seemed to be a key ingredient in helping Peter regain his resolve to be a hero, and I appreciate Ursula for that. It was also nice to see her dad warm up to him a little after getting chewed out. Him understanding that someone like Peter would never act out like he did because he must be going through something is a nice touch.

Just a friendly reminder: If you ever hated the MJ characterization in Sam Raimi's Spider Man trilogy, please just hate the characterization alone, not Kirsten Dunst. I believe she did an amazing job portraying that character, despite how MJ was written in the films. Kisrten still the best MJ for me 💙

I know their purpose is to be side characters to give the movie a light mood every now and then to show that Peter is still Peter and he's still living a normal life outside of Spider-man but it really would make more sense if she ended up with Peter rather than Mary Jane being with Peter after all the shit that they went through I mean, she has everything. She has the look that wouldn't stand out as a model but is cuter than Mary Jane in many ways, she has a brighter and awkard personality that feels more natural than what Mary Jane feels, she isn't salty that the guy she likes is with another girl, she just likes being around him and support him, and most of all, she's in love with Peter, not Spiderman

I’m still kind of mad he didn’t give her a shot, she treated him so well, while MJ knew his secret and still couldn’t appreciate him, Ursula appreciated Peter even though she thinks he’s just a normal guy, straight up. She was clearly in love with Peter, but when she realizes MJ and him are having problems, she is still in his corner for him, excited him and MJ might work it out.

Why are these side characters from this trilogy so iconic and effective

As a kid I always had a thing for Ursula.

I'd pick her over MJ any day. She's the type of woman that loves a man during his lows and highs. That's such a rare gem to come by, and to some people, they might not take her as an attractive woman, but she has the type of beauty that only the beholder can see. I'd rate her 100/10.

I remember being in cinema watching Spiderman 2's original run. And thinking "If I would be Peter, I knew who I would like to be with".

I really thought that there was going to be some kind of love triangle going on with Ursula and MJ. Its so obvious that Ursula had a crush on Peter and she had some genuine love for him but she was scared to tell him.

Peter and Ursula would have made an excellent couple together, unfortunately, Peter can never bring himself to ask her out because of his unresolved emotional issues about the damn door and her father's refusal to fix it. For some people, it's always those little things that really tend to hold them back in a relationship.

I have to admit, I completely overlooked Ursula back when I first watched the movie. She's not the type one swoons over when seeing her for the first time. She's the kind of girl you realize it's actually kind of cute YEARS after you met her and then you realize it's too late and she married another guy who wasn't as stupid as you.
