I think you make some good points but I feel as though in some cases you miss the point of what a scene is trying to, like when Keaton's character shoots the guy and then says he thought is was the anti-grav gun, the point of that isn't to make him look like a big baddy, his character isn't that, he wouldn't try to kill someone, he's an everyman trying to protect his family, not a killer, that's why he works as a Spidy villain. Stuff like that just made some arguments feel not as well thought out, especially in regards to Homecoming, the movie is nothing incredible but it felt like almost everything it did well you sold short or just didn't mention.

@@tienluong9648 Yeah well it was still stupid that he accidently INCINERATED the guy though and just said "oh, wrong gun", he just turned a guy to ashes, sure by mistake, but the movie treats it as another one of it's jokes, and before you or anyone tries to tell me that "you're looking too deep into this one scene" or "the movie shouldn't be too serious it needs humor", as an everyman that's only doing what he does to look after his family without trying to harm anyone, he should be horrifed or panicked that he just accidently killed a guy

I'm a kid. I'm 17, if I was spiderman. I would be bugging happy Hogan too. All the time lol. Plus spidersense doesn't work with people he trusts. In a comic, spiderman went back home and aunt may thought there was an intruder and knocked him out with a vase or pan I think...but since Peter trusts aunt may, his spidersense doesn't go off, because he trusts her. So the Ned thing with Homecoming doesn't bother me.

Peter Parker is a shy, awkward guy. Yep, Tobey displays that. He isn’t perfect, and often struggles to make ends meet. Again, that is present in his performance. He struggles to talk to women. Bingo once again. He has an affinity for science. Sure, he didn’t make his web shooters, but this is shown through subtleties in the dialogue, for example when he’s talking with Octavius. These are some of Peter Parker’s most well-known traits, and Maguire nails each one of them. In summary, he’s the kind of guy some people will be- a nerdy, awkward dweeb who isn’t flawless and makes mistakes. It’s in sharing these every day, common struggles that leads us to connect with the character, which means that nobody quite has a relationship with their viewers/readers in the way that Peter does. I personally feel like there was a decision made in production to make this version of Peter Parker a far more ‘realistic’ one to better fit a live action environment. This links in with previous points; he’s shy, insecure, gets pushed around a lot and can't catch a break. There are some versions of Spidey in which Peter can be relatively confident outside of his suit, however this isn’t one of them. I think this works for the better- Maguire’s performance is essentially what I think a real life version of this character would be like. If he gets bullied and doesn’t have many friends, well of course he’d adapt to become an introverted character over time. Bully victims are not naturally confident- it takes time to overcome something like that, so then it makes perfect sense as to why Pete acts like he does; eventually becoming more confident throughout the films. People who say, "Tobey cried 50 times in every film." SMH. Tobey cried 6 times through out all 3 movies, twice in SM 1, once in SM 2 and 3 times in SM 3 that's when it starts to get ridiculous by the 3rd film but first two films he does it at appropiate times and I counted how many times Andrew Garfield cried in both TASM films and I swear to god, I'm not making this number up, 10 times in both ASM films, 6 times in TASM 1 & 4 times in TASM 2. Why do people give Andrew a pass on that because they say, "He doesn't look ugly when he cries unlike Tobey." Seriously, nobody looks like a model when they cry, they scrunch their faces up & look like a total mess, also the second time he cries in Spider-Man 1, it's because he's still feeling guilty about Uncle Ben and feels regret about what he said to him the last time they had a conversation, "I can't help thinking about the last thing I said to him, he tried to me something important and I threw it in his face." Also it's the day of his graduation, something that Uncle Ben would've attended had he not been murdered and he was Peter's father figure who raised him since he was a boy. And it's important for the movie to address the impact of Uncle Ben's death on Peter because it's the whole reason he becomes Spider-Man just like it's supposed to be. So HOW can you not sympathize with Peter and the regret that he's feeling?? People who say Tobey's Spider-Man never joked around, they're either ignoring the ones he did say and blatantly lying or they weren't paying attention. Spidey is supposed to be throwing around some wisecracks and irritating his enemies but he has to have some seriousness to him and I feel like that was sorely lacking in ASM 2 where he just didn't know when to shut up to the point where all it seemed like he was more concerned about how many one liners he can throw at his villains instead of helping people. Spidey is not Deadpool. He's not someone who throws snarky remarks out of his mouth every time he talks. There's more to him than the comedic side which is what I think a lot of Spider-Man fans have forgotten about. Sure it's great to see Peter Parker transform into the fun webslinger, but Spider-Man joking around as often as he did in the comics can only be taken so far if we meant to believe that he's a real dude, that's why the one-liners in the Raimi trilogy were never taken to a point of excess where they became so tedious, it robbed the scenes of any potential investment but that also doesn't mean that he's not still fun to watch or that they don't still make me wish I was Spider-Man. He clearly shouts to the world how much he loves web slinging and has an upbeat attitude every time he talks and he still busted out the one-liners, he just only ever did it when the circumstances were lighthearted enough to warrant them... Spider-Man 1: "That's a cute outfit. Did your husband give it to you ?", "Well, beats taking the subway, don't mind her, she needs to use the elevator.", "Hey kiddo, let mom & dad talk for a moment, will ya !", "You have a knack for getting in trouble.", and "It's you whose gobby, out of your mind !" Spider-Man 2: "Workout, plenty of rest, you know, eat your green vegetables.", "It rides up in the crotch a little bit too.", "Here's your change !" & "I have a knack for that." Spider-Man 3: "I guess you haven't heard, I'm the sheriff around these parts.", "Look at little goblin junior, gonna cry ?", & "A few minutes ago would'nt been so bad." Tobey's quips felt so natural and perfectly timed when the situation, scene, or moment had enough levity and was light hearted enough to warrant them while Andrew's quips were so forced and obnoxious to the point where he might as well be Deadpool. Again, Spider-Man is not just about making jokes and that's it, when serious shit hits the fan, he's supposed to shut up and take the situation seriously. If you go to level of joking he does in the comics and translate that into film, you're gonna have the risk of making Spider-Man coming off as an asshole and that he's more focused on being funny then actually saving people and him blatantly making the situation worse and insufferable while doing it. That really came to life in ASM 1 & 2, especially in TASM 2 where Spider-Man is too busy making jokes while Rhino is driving that truck crashing into cars with people possibly in them and probably died. Spider-Man is not Deadpool ! Seriously, watch the first ten minutes of The Amazing Spider-Man 2 (that video is even on KZfaq). When Rhino crashes into all those cars with his truck, Andrew only saves Max (who later turns into a villain) and doesn't even TRY to catch at least one of those cars (when we clearly saw he'd be able to do that). The people in those cars most certainly died and he didn't care, even worse, he was all bubbly and jokey when he talked to Max and seemed to think of himself as a great hero in that moment. I'd rather Peter dance around like an idiot in SM3 than him clowning around with the Rhino and not really seem to care that he's is more than likely killing people in the armored truck. Before you fanboys tell me, "He's supposed to be that way, he doesn't know when to shut up, he's supposed to cocky and all that. He does it to piss off his enemies." I know, that execuse has been made for a long time but that doesn't mean the movie is any better than any of the previous ones. Also he doesn't really seem that concerned that Rhino mowed down a bunch of people while he's swinging away from the armored truck, not to mention that Rhino shoots his AK out into the air possibly firing into these windows on these neighboring buildings, he doesn't sound concerned at all ! It's all because the writers and Sony were more interested in pleasing the fans who complained that Tobey didn't make enough jokes, in other words: they went for quantity over quality. In Raimi's trilogy, they portrayed him in a more serious manner where he still throws his one liners but at the appropriate time because he was more concerned about helping others than being funny for the sake of it. But when people like Aunt May, Mary Jane, or innocent civilians are directly put in harm's way, that's when it all stops being funny and it's time to get down to business, that is Spider-Man ! Now the emo Peter scenes, look I'm not one of those people who's gonna throw an actor completely under the bus because of those one or two scenes unlike a lot of Spider-Man fans who still not forgiven him for that, seriously grow a pair & move on if you got over George Clooney as Batman maybe you could do the same with Tobey. Is it dumb ? Yeah it's dumb, really dumb BUT I think it kinda works because Peter has been treated like a nerd & a geek his whole life who's never been cool ever, doesn't know what being cool is like, and hell probably doesn't know what "cool" is so that's him thinking in his head what being cool is like. It's supposed to awkward & stupid, you wan't him to stop doing it & it shows that Peter Parker is not supposed the bad boy, looking at you ASM 1&2, yep I said it ! That being said the second time it happens in the jazz club, that's when it's like, "Okay, WTF are you doing ? One is enough, there's no need for more."

The Raimi films were better than Homecoming because Spider-Man 1 and 2 are brilliant flicks regardless of whether or not I feel nostalgia towards them. They were just great movies because they had the level of heart, earnestness, & passion to tell a good story and creativity present in both films is an example of what we're NOT seeing in the production of Spider-Man films today. Also they were unique in tone, and unique visually. They were quirky, yet serious. Colorful and upbeat, but dark. Funny, but carried emotional weight. All at the same time. The films truly stand out in the superhero genre, because it's all become so copy/paste these days. Everything feels like mindless entertainment to me. The Raimi movies proved that superhero flicks could and should be more than that. That's why they'll continue to reign supreme for me. Also people who say, "TASM films got everything right that the Raimi films didn't." or "TASM films are accurate to the comics." Which I laugh when people say that beacause... TASM films were nothing but poorly made, poorly written, poorly directed, poorly written characterizations, passionless, dull & cynically superficial comic book to movie accuracy pandering fan service where it desides to distract the fanboys with that superficial comic book to movie accuracy such as the web shooters, Spidey joking, The Lizard wearing his lab coat for one scene, the comic book accurate costume, and the death of Gwen Stacy over there and defending the films because of that and claiming, "These films are the best superhero and Spider-Man films ever !" while ignoring all the obvious glaring problems of the films over here. Also Spider-Man 2 is better than Homecoming because... Peter was very conflicted with having a double life, he was miserable because he had a hard time balancing his double life, he couldn't be happy being both Peter Parker and Spider-Man, as Peter Parker he got criticised because his friends, teachers and bosses didn't think he's dependable, he kept getting late to work because he needed to be Spider-Man to save people from danger like in the beginning in the film when he saved 2 kids from getting run over and he ended getting fired later because he couldn’t deliver pizzas on time. When Peter Parker is Spider-Man, he needs to accept making sacrifices that will ruin his own life by using his powers responsibly by saving people from danger but he never got enough credit for it because the Daily Bugle kept on spot lighting him as a villain regardless of the good he did. He tried to be friends with Mary Jane but he kept on disappointing her by not showing up to her play which reminds him that he can't be reliable if he keeps having a double life, and eventually it reached to the point that he's miserable and his powers started to fade away and he lost them completely. When he went to a doctor to check his health, he told them doctor that he was Spider-Man in a ‘’dream’’ and that he kept on losing his powers, the doctor told that maybe he shouldn’t be Spider-Man and that he could always have a choice, so he quit being Spider-Man because he felt that there was no point of being a Super Hero if he kept on being spot lighted as a menace. And what’s great about this is that EVERYONE can relate to this, EVERYONE can, we've all reached a point that we try to do some good but we don’t get the credit we deserve and we give up because we're like: ''Forget this! I'm done''. This could easily come across as Peter being selfish but he does it in a way that we want him to be happy; he decided to have a life of his own when he was told that everyone has a choice, so he quit his double life, and he had a dream that he talked with his Uncle Ben, it brilliantly portrayed how much Uncle Ben’s death affected Peter, and it symbolized Peter finally moving on by freeing himself of the guilt he felt for his Uncle Ben's death. And things changed for the better for Peter after he stopped being Spider-Man, he gained good grades, he showed up everywhere, he became reliable, but something’s wrong, whenever he saw police cars drive past him and a mugging and he felt that he should’ve helped but he ignored it. The second time this happens, he saw a burning building with people trapped in it, he couldn’t say no so he went in to save a child and succeeded, but he found out that there was someone else in the building that he could have saved but didn’t because he didn’t take responsibility of his powers. Peter finally took responsibility of his powers when Aunt May gave a speech about heroes and how much people needed them, which also hints that Aunt May knows he’s Spider-Man, why not? Peter did tell her that it was his fault that Uncle Ben died and Aunt May forgave him. Aunt May puts Peter back on track with her speech and she taught Peter about being a hero and that sometimes you have to do the right thing even if it means giving up your dreams. And that's when Peter finally learned how much Spider-Man is needed, he learned that sometimes when you have to do the right thing you need to give up the things you love, even your dreams, and this is actually shown after the ''I'm Back'' scene where Peter jumps off a building thinking he's got his powers back but he didn't fully understand what Aunt May's speech meant, when he went to the coffee shop to meet Mary Jane, it's shown there that he's motivated by Aunt May's speech, he didn't tell her that he loves her even though he does, that showed Peter giving up his dream to have a normal life and be with Mary Jane, Aunt May's speech taught Peter to do the right thing regardless of the mistakes he made in the past and even if it meant giving up his dreams to live a normal life. Now that is a Hero! Raimi understand not only Spider-Man, but just what it a hero is and what it means to be one, the Raimi Spider-Man trilogy theme's: revenge, responsibility, greed, sacrifice, rebirth, redemption, arrogance, anger, & forgiveness also Spider-Man doesn't make Peter Parker, Peter Parker makes Spider-Man, Spider-Man isn't really about saving the world or saving the city, it's about identity. Figuring out who you are, what you're meant to be, & making difficult choices & that's what the Raimi films mostly 1&2 nailed better than Homecoming.

Fans put sooo much emphasis on Spider-Man needing to be funny and younger, ("like the comics!!1!") as if those are his most important aspects. They're completely forgetting what actually makes Spider-Man great. Being quippy isn't the reason why people love Peter Parker/Spider-Man. As comic readers, they consider themselves to be such elite fans of the character, yet they're so easily fooled into thinking something is way better than it actually is. Since Homecoming has the funny/younger thing going on... people are seriously overhyping it, tbh. "The best Spider-Man film yet!!!" Ranking it #1 out of the 6 Spidey films - Like, seriously? I beg to differ. I enjoyed it for what it is (a comedy) but, other than that.. it's lacking in emotional depth. I mean, the emotion/potential was there.. but it wasn't captured as well imo. I was never ~moved.~ The only reason I cared about Peter, was because Tom Holland is very charismatic. If anyone else was playing him, it would not have worked as well, imo. Another big issue is the musical score. Compare Danny Elfman's epic ORIGINAL theme which is used throughout the film(s), to a rehashed orchestral version of the 60s theme, which is only used during the Marvel logo. Really?! There's no contest. Again, just because the 60's theme is a throwback to the original cartoon, people are overhyping it. Other than that, Homecoming has no identity musically. The score is forgettable and generic like the majority of MCU films. But overall Homecoming is definitely one of the better MCU films I've seen. I never felt the urge to fall asleep... so that's a good sign for me at least, lol. But that might just be due to my unconditional love for Spider-Man. Before you fanboys tell me, "The rubble scene has emotional depth !" The rubble scene while Tom Holland does sell the hell out of the acting but for the overall scene it's eh. It's the same sort of "character pushes really hard to persevere". He didn't even seem in danger being under the rubble, no physical damage, blood, or anything. It felt more like, "help I've fallen and I can't get up". Maybe if on top of that, the water was rising and he had limited time before actually dying, it would have tension. It was a personal struggle, which every character has, but Spider-Man is more than saving himself. Before you fanboys also tell me, "He is physically damaged." while yes he does get damaged BUT it's not like the end of the original Spider-Man film where Spider-man gets the shit beaten out of him by the Green Goblin to the point where he might actually die. The train scene is much better because Spider-Man as a character, will do anything to save people, even at his own cost, and that's what that scene exhibited. There was also tension because not only does he have to save hundreds of people, but he has limited time. You also see him struggle (his webs snap) and you can also visually see how much effort he's putting into it (all of the webs draped across the buildings compared to before). I've never liked pushing/lifting in these sorts of scenes because the only way you can grasp how much more effort they put into it, is more yelling and sweating. It's never felt believable to me because you see a character doing something and it doesn't work, and then 10 seconds later they're doing the same exact thing and it does work. Plus, Tom Holland fights Vulture right after escaping the rubble, as if nothing happened. Tobey on the other hand, passes out and almost falls to his death, demonstrating how much effort he put into it, and how much of a strain it was on him physically. I like Spider-Man: Homecoming, but you know the train scene is a fantastic scene when they duplicate it in Homecoming, even though every other thing that could have been repeated was avoided (no Uncle Ben, not even a flashback, no "responsibility" line, no jock Flash Thompson, no red-head, popular, Mary Jane, no old Aunt May, etc, etc). Spectacular Spider-Man did it right but in Homecoming, it was such a low stakes situation that there's not much incentive to care. I also said, "the emotion/potential was there... but it wasn't captured as well imo."
@kelvinumendez
@kelvinumendez 6 жыл бұрын
Also by far, my biggest problem with Homecoming was not metioning Uncle Ben, look it's good that they're not doing the origin again, thank god but the main driving force of what makes Peter Spider-Man IS Uncle Ben and not metioning him is like not metioning the main reason of what makes Bruce Wayne Batman is his parents death or having Clark Kent not thinking about what Jonathan Kent taught him. because my overarching issue was the lack of any mention of responsibility. Just like I said, we're not going through the origin again thank god ! but the guilt, PTSD, and the ghost of a father figure he failed to save constantly haunting him is an invaluable aspect of the character and choosing not to include it simply dulled down for me. They're doing, they're own Spider-Man, I get that. I'm not unsympathetic to their situation of being the 3rd reboot and needing to provide different angles to feel new and refreshing, and I'm a big supporter of reinterpreting the source when adapting it to a new medium, but choosing not to have that aspect present simply dulled down a lot of what was at stake for me. I felt they ignored it SO much that they made an active choice to cheapen Spider-Man's motivation. And the motivation here that's put in place of that is no where near as interesting or complex as what was there originally. If you're going to change something, convince the audience that it's a change for the better. So overall, I still prefer the first two Raimi films & Tobey Maguire over Homecoming & Tom Holland & no NOT because of nostalgia. To me, Tobey is the Christopher Reeve of Spider-Man but Tom Holland is a good version of Henry Cavill BUT that's not to take away the fact he's great in this role. So I'll always defend Tobey from the ignorant whiny crybaby haters even when I die, I'll still defend on why he's still the best Spider-Man/Peter Parker and I'd just gave long ass reasons why Tobey is still the best, why TASM films & Andrew Garfield didn't work, & why the Raimi films (1&2) is still better than Homecoming, not just better films but better Spider-Man films. My ranking of the Spider-Man films: Spider-Man 2 Spider-Man (2002) Spider-Man Homecoming Spider-Man 3 TASM 1 TASM 2 PS: I still like Homecoming, it's a solid film but I had problems with it to the point where I can't call it a great film.

Nicholas King that’s likely a result of films and television series casting actors in their 20’s and 30’s to play high school students, skewing our perception of what a genuine high school kid looks like. At the end of the day, Tom Holland is a 22 year old adult and as much as he’s playing a kid in a film he’s not a kid in real life and that’s a clear distinction that I’m sure even he’d appreciate keeping.

Uncle Ben inspired Peter to be greater, not Tony Stark, Stark is a different character entirely, you can't just up and replace Uncle Ben with another character and expect the story to flow as smoothly and effectively. In the MCU specifically it works, it's a great MCU Spider-Man story, just not a good Spider-Man story.

I found the Amazing Spiderman's scene with Uncle Ben, Peter and Gwen - happening after the _did you humiliate that boy_ scene - pretty funny and Uncle Ben is quite dad-like in it. ;) Uncle Ben sees a random *running* person dropping a gun: people with legally registered guns who haven't done anything wouldn't need to run; i that situation everyone then is bound to assume the gun is illegal and the man did something not good. And calling Uncle Ben moron for accidentally getting shot during a struggle....I doubt many others would have had the guts to attempt stopping the thief. In Raimi's movie, Uncle Ben looks and sounds more like an older brother than the father figure he's supposed to be; and by the way, in that movie Ben dies almost the same way as in Webb's version: he may not attempt to stop the thief physically, but he still gets in his way. And Garfield's crying is actually more realistic....I mean, would you able to speak coherent words like Raimi's Peter does when you face a shock like seeing your uncle/dad dying? I sincerely doubt it, you'd just utter intelligible words like Garfield's Peter does.
@captainmarvelwilson508

LucienSabre I don’t get it. Uncle Ben in the original in every way did feel like a father figure, just watch that scene in the car. I don’t get what is realistic about his death in the Amazing Spider-Man. What again, makes you think that the original was like an older brother, he really looked more like a man who was an older version of Peter Parker. They both have a great sense of humour and enjoy making jokes whenever they felt like it. What is the problem with that? The original was realistic enough, because the thief just happened to be attacking Uncle Ben and taking his car. Also, he was in a situation where his life was on the line and he tried to make a smart decision to avoid death, but I would also say that he played the part of someone being helpless in a situation like that very well. What would you do if you saw a man with a gun? Honestly, diving after the gun would not be the first thing I would do.

I really can't understand why this video (like a few others you've made) has such a bad like/dislike ratio. Even if you disagree with his opinions, you can still appreciate the effort that went into making the video, and the fact that he explained his views in great detail. It seems like people who thought Homecoming was 11/10 of whatever just dislike the vid because they disagree with you, and I don't think that's the right response. Comment saying you disagree, and why (don't just insult him and say "nah you're stupid"), don't just hate on the vid.

Because arguments that are stained with bias shouldn't be given the same level of respect as balanced ones that do proper research and consideration. This whole video was quite obviously bogged down by his nostalgia for the original trilogy and he really doesn't present any compelling arguments for the majority of his points. If he really wanted to make a real analysis of the three he should've actually delved into why they made certain tonal or storytelling decisions and whether or not it is the most accurate or logical capturing of the original comics. Instead the video just rambles on about things he didn't like, even though it's pretty obvious he didn't think much about why they were portrayed a certain way, just that he didn't like it.

Hmm, I really enjoyed this video as it’s very well done! But after calculating this ranking system /3... your Spiderman 1 score is accurate but the Amazing Spiderman should be a 6.6 (averaging the 2, 1, 3, 2, 2, 3 out of 21 (3x7 topics) = 0.6666) and Spiderman Homecoming would be 0.47619 or 4.7/10 according to your rankings added together and divided. No hate or anything, just something I thought was off. Once again really well done video Eric and I subscribed. Why did you place Spider-Man homecoming LAST in terms of stories? Is it because it's not a classical ORIGIN story? Don't tell me you're not bored of Uncle Ben's death by now. I'm glad the MCU moved on. If they didn't, they would have been forced back into the same old stories much multiple TV shows, comics books and movies have shown time and time again.

As I stated in the video, I don't need to see Uncle Ben's death all over again. I just need to see Peter and his Aunt deal with it. The way in which they combat this tragedy and get past it can be done in a variety of different and creative ways. But Marvel just scrapped any chance of that happening. And because of this giant missed opportunity, it deserved to be in last place with regards to story.

@@EricCarter12 That's a lame reason and you know it. It's a story we've seen dozens of times and completely unmoving to see again. Contextually within the scope of the MCU, it makes more sense for Spiderman's character arc to be about his place in his universe rather than his place in his own family. Personally, I think it's much more interesting to see Peter Parker experience growth not as a person struggling with his parents' and uncle's death, a trope that has appeared in countless other iconic stories (like Superman, Iron Man, Star Wars, Harry Potter, etc.), but as a character in a broader story. Because Spiderman Homecoming isn't a movie in a Spiderman series, it's a movie in the MCU series.

@@chumuheha That would have been true if they had portrayed Peter Parker accurately. Tom Holland nailed the role but I don't think the director read any comics before because Peter Parker in Homecoming is the opposite of Peter Parker in the comics. One of the fundamental characteristics of Peter is that bad things happen to him because he makes the right choice. For every decision he takes , he has to face consequences. For every action, he has to face consequences. That's what Peter Parker is, a guy suffering for being Spiderman. In Homecoming, he accidentally destroys a shop which is the only source of income of a person, and guess what? Everything is fine , he gets away with it. No one asks him about it and he doesn't feel guilty. He ditches his friend , and his friend forgets it the next day. He did not have to face consequences for his decision and doesn't feel guilty. He leaves Liz in the party to fight the Vulture and Liz doesn't ask him about it and he gets away with it. He does not have to face ANY consequences for being Spiderman , he doesn't have to suffer because he is Spiderman. What makes Peter Parker so compelling is that he suffers for being Spiderman. As a film , homecoming is good but as a spiderman film , it's bad
@chumuheha
@chumuheha 5 жыл бұрын
@@achyuththouta6957 I'm not sure if you actually watched Homecoming, but he absolutely does not get away with anything. He fails to stop the Vulture on the ship, and Tony Stark takes away his suit. He is devastated when he goes home and tells May that he lost the Stark internship. He leaves Liz at Homecoming and the consequence he faces is that he's forced act like he just left her there because he didn't like her, not because he's actually Spiderman in order to protect his identity. The entire start of the third act was showing him finally being fine a teenager, which makes sense since Spiderman is only fifteen old. The mopey emo Spiderman cliche has been beaten to death in the previous five Spiderman films and isn't compelling to tell again.
