@@Jmanclub-vd7mg Nothing you could ever say on art in general is valid until demonstrated otherwise, on the premise that, ultimately, you seriously believe that the quality of a film is subjective. I never said anything about disliking Endgame. In fact, I never expressed my opinion on Endgame in the first place. Where did you pull this conclusion out of? You certainly didn't base it on my own words. ...I also never said that you liked Endgame. Not unless you can point to any part of my comment where I stated, either explicitly or implicitly, something to the effect of the exact wording "You like Endgame", which I know you can't do because those statements do not exist in that comment. You honestly expect me to take your "criticisms" of NWH seriously when you think that said criticisms are just your opinions? The alternative ways that Strange potentially could have used the spell don't matter and are immaterial to the narrative. Characters don't need to make the most logical or rational choices in order to for the writing to be good and make sense, and besides, I think we both know that Strange's ability to use his magic in the "safest possible way" is severely limited without the Time Stone, since the Time Stone lets him check all possibilities of events. This was Peter's choice, not Strange's choice, and in context it makes sense why Peter didn't choose to use the spell in a more "optimal" way. How can you even consider any of things you've said to be valid criticisms in the context of the story? ...You clearly don't understand how the internet works. You can't just "take down Mysterio's video"; nothing on the internet is truly lost forever. You may delete it off the website, but other people more than likely have it downloaded and can just upload it themselves as many times as needed, or even just keep it on their phones, computers, external hard drives/thumb drives, etc. Not to mention that The Wayback Machine is also a thing. What is the Daredevil going to do? Become a totalitarian, anti-free speech dictator that makes it illegal to post the video of Mysterio online, let alone share it through other means? That would be rather counter-productive to convincing the populace that Spider-Man is innocent; it would just make them think Spider-Man is guilty of murdering Mysterio even more. ...It's implied that Doctor Strange has mastered the spell. Just because we're only directly given one example of Strange having used it in the past, that doesn't mean that he's only used it once in continuity. It's made pretty clear that Strange thought that Peter had not only done everything else to try and get his life back together without achieving success first, but that Peter was fully prepared for the decision that he made. Why else would he have gotten so mad at Peter? Again, narrative context. You need to learn what the difference is between character decisions or plans not being fully logical or thought out and the writing being flawed. Of course the logic that Peter and Strange had wasn't perfect; if it was they would cease to be human. That's not inherently bad writing. Stop nitpicking media. You need to rewatch the Raimi films and ASM films. Electro didn't know that Peter Parker was Spider-Man because he never knew that information to begin with. At no point during ASM2 does Electro learn Spider-Man's true identity. The only conclusion that I can reach for why you seem to have this misunderstanding regarding Electro's characterization between the two films is that you're mistaking Electro for The Goblin (ASM2). Harry Osborn (The Goblin) did figure out Spider-Man's true identity, but this was after Peter and Gwen managed to kill Electro. As for The Sandman, he DID help Peter (Holland) when he first met him during the initial encounter with Electro, but after what Peter did to Electro, The Sandman thought that he was going to kill him, and if you're familiar with his characterization in Raimi 3, it's clear that The Sandman will do anything he thinks he has to to save his daughter, and this includes teaming up with the villains if he thinks they have a better chance of getting him home than Peter Parker does. Norman was also perfectly in character; Norman Osborn and The Goblin are two different personalities, two different people, existing inside of the same person, with Osborn being the logical extreme of the positive aspects of his original personality, and The Goblin being the logical extreme of the negative aspects of his original personality. They regularly came into conflict with each other throughout most of Raimi 1, and I don't see how The Goblin was not portrayed correctly; The Goblin IS an alter ego, and not simply Norman's inner darkness that he was trying to hold back. If you're going to come out swinging with these kinds of accusations or claims, at least bring the receipts first.

@@boyishdude1234 Why are you trying to write the movies for the writers themselves ? You are just giving out excuses out of your own a** and making mental gymnastics. Point #1: Why the hell would they make the whole movie based on a wish, thats the laziest type of writing you can think of. If Peter had actually used his intelligence and though before talking there is no movie, if Strange actually behaves like a Sourcerer and not like a disney channel show parent who does anything. Point #2: MCU spiderman, supposedly has gone through a lot, and still shows he learns nothing, oh I know why, because this time is the definitive time and next product will show the Spiderman you know -.- Point #3: Daredevil says everything that is wrong with the movie. It would just not hold up, had petter actually tried to use intelligence to show evidence this would be basically equivalent to fake news Point #4: CGI, cinematography, good actual scores, script is non existent in SM NWH. Everything is green screen when it shouldnt (dont give the pandemic excuse, they wanted money and couldn't care about the looks of any film making aspect really). The only good part is when the other SM appear, and even that is so badly done, Andrew just takes off his mask (for the cheers obvisouly 🤣😐). Point #5: The internet created the movie, they just half assed a script around what they knew the MCU internet shills would go nuts analyzing and making memes. Point #6: I dare you to rewatch this cRap without your MCU fanboy goggles on and say its good. I still don't know how Marvel and Disney can make CGI look so advanced but still horrible, most of these movies do not even feel like movies anymore

@@boyishdude1234 I think you are forgetting how that magic works, it literally erases and turns things that will remind of that memory invisible making it impossible to be remembered, some kind of mental shield for forgetting like those who experience trauma, how did you think people forgot who Spiderman is when they just forget his identity when there are literal records and papers proofs and faces of Peter Parker next to SpiderMan saying and proving he is Spiderman, did those disappear or people minds are altered so anytime they see things that remind them of that memory, they are blocked off, instead of seeing papers saying Peter Parker with a picture/s saying he's Spiderman, they actually just seeing a blank piece of paper, same as videos and other records, so there, proving that erasing that video existed will be much more helpful than of erasing the memory that Spiderman is Peter Parker.

@@boyishdude1234 Not saying it is the worst one from the MCU, but definitely not "it isn't perfect", it's bad. Again, you miss what I am trying to say completely, how predictable, how can this be a debate, when you don't see the problem, Dr. Strange is dumb and so is Peter, I would probable understand Peter but Strange isn't going to make a spell this big to Peter without explaining it clearly to Peter, if it was, one of the solutions is what I have already said, erasing the memory of the video and its contents, you even ignored the first things I already told you like how this magic spell work, to really erase the possibility of remembering it. One of them was the end credit scene, cause after seeing let it be carnage, I thought that venom would play a role in no way home but he didn’t do crap. I'm so glad I'm not the only person who liked the Sam Raimi suit and was disappointed when it was destroyed. But no, Osborn destroying the mask while I suppose "symbolic" in universe, the reasons for such were due to criticisms originally given to the mask and suit when the original movie came out. Both because he didn't look like the original comic iteration, and because the mask blocked one of Dafoe's best acting traits - his face. His expressions make his roles a lot of the time. So, while I understand the reasons, it still disappointed me to not see the mask and original suit for more of the movie. They could have easily achieved the same thing, I feel, by just having him abandon the mask early on instead of breaking it, and then when the Goblin returns he retrieves the mask for the finale. That I would've been fine with.

I agree but one fight with the suit and mask on could have been nice though. I actually think the Power boost for Green Goblin was a good thing (And yes I am Green Goblin fan So very biased here, And really wanted a full on film focused around Goblin as the Villain again ) since It shows how much of a force and near equal he is to Spider-Man in the comics and unlike when in 2002 they're limited by the tech and effects of the time to show such powerful fights between the two. It also gives Goblin more menace and threat to Tom Holland's Spider-Man. And fits His role as the main villain of the movie. And as a Raimi Spider-Man fan it also shows how powerful That Spider-Man had to be to be able to tank blows from such a powerhouse and overpower him. But might be more fan theory than real work on Marvel's part. Goblin was the best thing in this film to me, out shinning the other villain's easily and being the most accurate to his Raimi storyline.

I've already said this, and it's a very risky thing to say. Imagine you are on an island but there is another island over there. You want to conquer it, and they are ruled by a leader. "Oh, but they're disciplined, and they obey their leader. It's impossible to defeat them." Ah, then we will impose democracy on them. Democratic propaganda! We will promote the most democratic way. "Oh, but they also possess incredible faith in God! They have such faith in God that they would never abandon the front." Ah, then let's promote atheism. Church time is over. From now on, only night clubs. "Oh, but the youth are healthy and strong. They're in formidable shape. They are the way the Creator made them: in his image." Ok then, from now on McDonald's, Coca-Cola, drugs, alcohol, video games. Let them be fat, lazy and undisciplined. We must abolish military service. "Ah... yeah, but the thing is that they're homogenous. They are a single people, a single race. There is no ethnic chaos." Ok, then in whatever way, we must send them boats filled with blacks, whites, Africans, Chinese, Israelites, Muslims. "But they have a lot of babies! 6 or 7 babies on average! They are happy to start large families!" Ok, from now on abortion, the pill. You have now defeated that island without even firing a single bullet.

The audience reaction you show at 1:02:13 I think shows a big reason why so many moviegoers in the U.S. and other Western countries rate this movie so high. The shared experience and camaraderie with the rest of the audience provided a much more heightened experience and biases the viewer to thinking the movie is much better than it actually was. Especially considering the current environment with people wanting to have a fun experience after going through 2 years of a pandemic. I watched this in Japan with an audience that was basically dead silent, so there was no cheering or laughing or high fives or fist pumps or anything like that to cloud my judgement and I was able to judge the movie based on it alone and I thought it was just OK. Like a 7/10. So I get the feeling upon further viewings watching this streaming in the living room it won't hold up nearly as well as people believe it will. Especially with a hot mess of a story like the one No Way Home has.

This was in America so imagine my surprise when the audience I was with made no noises either. Maybe they were tired? It was nothing like infinity war and endgame. Which I can print out it’s flaws but I enjoyed seeing it because of the community around it. By going to a quiet audience to no way home, I discovered I didn’t like the movie very much. Overall it was ok, but I think I would’ve loved it if the theatre was more excited.

Thank you again for your voice of reason! It has been missed! 100% agree, everything is technically very convenient, but I was expecting that and was willing to forgive all that in favor of fan service...BUT the "logic" of how they make the circumstances occur make no sense. It's like a D&D outline. "Dr. Strange just kind of forgot to ask Peter if he tried doing everything or anything to change the situation yet. Peter just forgot about seeing if he could do something else." I can even forgive that, but, "Dr. Strange kind of forgot about the delicacy and exactness of casting a spell, but the Multiverse sure didn't forget about him!" Maybe the level of contrived, rushed, convenient writing is starting to match D&D after all.

Not to defend JJ because he’s definitely a major part of the train wreck, but his intentions for Luke were drastically different from what RJ ultimately did. At the end of Force Awakens, Luke is clearly a wise Jedi Master dressed neatly in traditional Jedi robes. In The Last Jedi, he’s suddenly transformed into a shaggy and cranky hobo. I’m not saying JJ had anything great planned for Luke, but I think it’s only fair to point out that JJ clearly revered the character more than RJ. Personally, I don’t mind Luke being disillusioned-that could have been an interesting character exploration-but I despise RJ’s execution.

I have no difficulty understanding a multiverse. The problem is what having a multiverse MEANS. Because there's infinite possibilities, it means there's no STAKES. Oh, Tony Stark dies? No problem, he's still alive in some other universe, we'll just get him from there. Need another Captain America? Thor? Black Widow? The hero loses? No problem, he wins somewhere else. It also makes it difficult to keep track of what the continuity is. Just look at the problems Star Trek has these days.

All these Corporate Untalented Uncreative Clowns use the same Blueprint (Marvel, StarWars, Matrix, GoT and even Naruto Anime) because they don't want their B.S to be compare to the Creators work. It does make sense for Strange to be cold and it be seen as a bad thing- Stephen's big issue is being so logical it DOES make him almost a bad guy sometimes. A bit like Steve's 'we don't trade lives'- Stephen does. Which is a good counterpoint to Peter who is struggling with the world hating him and his own trauma about killing Mysterio- to see these other villains and KNOWING that a version of HIM also kills them, it's not surprising Peter would want to help them because he still feels guilt. No Way Home's title isn't just about the villains- the title also references where Peter ends up- he cannot go back to his actual home now, Aunt May is dead and no one knows who he is. With the villains, there doesn't need to be a 1-1 comparison. When Flint says 'it was all over the news' there's no reason to think AFTER Flint leaves his Peter, a few years later the news gets out about Norman. Hell his butler guy even says to Harry the wounds matched the glider, so at least one person knows. It's not out of the possibility. Same with Flint being friendly with Peter- maybe they do talk more after that point. Hell even in the Raimi films, what if Doc Oc failed to overpower the tentacles and instead Peter does have to kill him and Peter is the one who figures out he needed to drown the machine. There are some issues but you are a bit over the top with the nitpicks.

Hi Anomaly, awesome video! I wanted to comment on your view on the multiverse and ‘parallel points in time’. In the context of No Way Home, there was tremendous convenience concerning points that characters were pulled from the other universes, and there is no excuse for that. The whole idea of ‘parallel points in time’ though, is that of simultaneity and in the theory of relativity (special and general) simultaneous events are not the same for all observers. So, the idea of having simultaneous or ‘parallel points’ in time that are unanimously agreed upon across a whole universe or multiple universes is inconsistent with how we understand time. Also, by promoting the idea of these simultaneous points, your view of the multiverse seems to be that every conceivable universe was created simultaneously. If this is indeed what you think, then you should know that there are multiverse theories that do not behave this way (example: the death of a universe could cause the creation of another universe). I just wanted you to know you can be a bit more lenient and not be as frustrated when it comes to this multiverse stuff. We don’t know exactly how a multiverse would work, it could very conceivably contain ‘time travel’, and actually, anything is considered ‘time travel’ as long as you aren’t a massless particle.

I respect your opinion of this movie as well, but there were a couple of things I feel are fair to say in this movies defence: 1) J.K Simmons reprising his role as J.J.Jameson may have been done for fan service, but at least this was a character who existed in this universe and not one ripped from the Ramie universe directly. Besides, he's the best guy for the job, he’s even voiced him in cartoons. 2) I understand you not liking the Goblin armour being destroyed in the film, but let’s face it, a lot of the MCU is focused or influenced by the comics. I know there were some fans who hated on the Ramie Spider-Man 1's Goblin costume for being too goofy, and Electro speaks for himself… so I can understand the MCU for making comic accurate suits for those two. (Especially Electro) 3) When the Spider-Men were working on the cures for the 4 villains still needing a cure, I think it’s fair to say that Andrew Garfield's Spider-Man would have no trouble with remaking the Lizard cure, and Tobey McGuire's Spider-Man did say he was already working on a cure for the Goblin and probably would know how to help Doc Ock and SandMan to a stretch. But Electro is still stupid, I’ll give you that. 4) Tom Holland being Spider-Man 1 may have angered you a bit, but he was technically the Spider-Man of that universe, and I think that was the more likely explanation. Everything else I’m fine with though and I still respect if you disagree with my views.

I think they made goblin much stronger like how they did with captain America. He wasn't pulling down helicopters in phase 1. Nor was thor taking the energy of a star to his chest. But they can now. They're just elevating the strength to utilise the effects

So it sounds like, for the purposes of time travel vs multiverse jumping, each universe is a plane oriented along space and time, and all the universes are aligned along a separate axis. When traveling through time, you can move along the "time axis" of one universe, and when traveling between universes, you can move along the axis connecting all the universes, but can't do both simultaneously

Man, watching this movie in the cinema is the most exciting thing I’ve experienced, but objectively, its a rough pass of what could have been the greatest superhero movie, it basically doesnt have a story, just throwing excuses so the spiderman character interact(which they did, and really great interactions) the only good plotline is peters arc, so its truly a shame

When I went to the theatre, I was expecting to be repulsed and paid closely as I could for character assassinations. In the end, it was an okay film. I liked the dynamic with Tobey, Andrew and Tom's Spiderman. I wasn't quite sold on the Green Goblin as in Raimi Spiderman, but he was good here. However Doc Ock and Electro were great. I never understand Sandman's reasoning to the Spider-Men as his only wish was to see his daughter which he would be helping the Spider-Men. And the Lizard was there, not really doing anything. But the plot sucked, especially with Dr. Strange. They had to make him idiot so they can push the multiverse movie while also trying to explain all these villains coming to MCU universe. Also I am not sold on Michelle being called MJ, she looks nothing and acts nothing like MJ. The best portrayal of MJ is in Spectacular Spider-Man, she does act like herself in the comics. The only Michelle and MJ have in common that they both Spider-Man's love interest and occasional damsel in distress.

@@bilbobaggins9451 I know right. And that really triggered me. I'm like are they really trying to make a joke out of that character arc ith Harry? Just the way they had tobey say it and the dialog didn't sit right with me. He was his best friend and he sacrificed himself for him. I would've liked it better if peter said something like my friend sacrificed himself saving me from his glider. It would've probably worked well where toeby stopped tom from killing goblin with his glider.

Suck it up Spider-Man lover trolls,it’s time for you snowflakes to get butt hurt with facts about this movie. Sorry for messing y’all up with y’all’s tissue and lube with Spider-Man🤣🤣🤣. Mess up number 1, this is 100 percent fan service instead of a enjoyable movie which kills a lot of things. Mess up number 2, they made Dr. strange look stupid when clearly he is smarter than Spider-Man and can prevent him from escaping and take box away from him like it’s nothing. Mess up number 3, Only in Kevin Feige’s dumb little mind that Spider-Man can beat Dr.Strange in his own meer dimension lmao. Mess up number 4,This movie is really all about Spider-Man getting into MIT which is definitely a dumb way building this plot around. Why didn’t he just go to another college? Not difficult to do lol. Mess up number 5, the pacing in this movie is atrocious and it drags on during multiple parts for way to long and the action in this movie was so bland.mess up number 6, what was the point of curing the villains, only just to send them back to their time line and die? It just doesn’t make any sense lmao🤣

Hey Nomz, love the video. As I reflect on No Way Home I find myself agreeing with almost everything you're saying. I don't mind Ned being able to use the sling-ring so much because we are told in Doctor Strange that the ring works off of belief. So it's not like, The Force for example, where he would need some amount of training to wield it. One thing I don't like about it is that previously it was only used to teleport from area to area, not to people, otherwise Strange could've taken all his wizards and just ambushed Thanos. Being able to locate a person by name with the sling-ring is about as world-breaking as the hyperspace ram. But that aside I didn't mind HIM being able to use it because he clearly believes in magic, so naturally magical items will react with him

All I'll say is that with Spider-Man it always comes back to the original portrayal of Peter Parker. No matter how subversive or nonsensical you get with Spider-Man, when you interweave certain things into the original portrayal of Peter Parker (Tobey Maguire) it always comes back over to the original creator's vision of the character. Because it's like while this current iteration of Peter Parker (Tom Holland) may be all the rage right now in media, there's always going to be those who are gonna want to see more of the original iteration of the character in media. Hints why we have stuff like Spider-Man PS4 and the recent comic book run of Nick Spincer's Amazing Spider-Man that follow more of the traditional aspects of Spider-Man than anything else. Also in response to your comment on the Miles Morales quote from Jamie Foxx's Electro. Personally as someone who is a fan of Spider-Verse and really wants to see a live action Miles Morales Spider-Man film, I actually found that quote to be quite funny. Because honestly that's kinda how I feel about Spider-Man in the movies today. Eventhough I like Peter Parker's Spider-Man a lot, I am getting really sick of seeing him be braught to the focal point so much on screen. Like I was actually one of the people who even wanted to see Miles be brought into the MCU instead of Peter because of his origin story. It's so much more on par with the status quo of the MCU than Peter's. Miles's classic 2011 origin that the MCU used as a template for their own version of Peter Parker completely waters down the key origin of Peter's character, his origin concept alone looks like it could exist in a universe of its own like the Raimi and Webb Spider-Man films.

If you want to drop a spoiler halfway through a video, please, provide a timestamp for people to avoid it. Yup, Doctor Strange should be smarter than this (Peter too). Damn, I completely forgot than Dock Ock didn't know Green Goblin's identity. I knew about Electro, but I assumed he could've learned Spider-man's identity from Harry or from "the data". I completely forgot that Sandman had no way of knowing how the other two die. Sandman had no reason to revolt against Spider-man. I felt manipulated by Aunt May's death. The almost comical way she got hit by a glider did not suggest she was mortally wounded and I didn't see how close the bomb exploded to her. I don't have much of a problem with Ned making portals. Yes, it is very convenient, but even in real life a thing that one must work hard to master can come to somebody else with more ease. You forgot to mention Andrew saving MJ. I found Goblin stabbing Tobey trying too hard to shock the audience. If you're not gonna kill him, why stab him at all? When Peter walked out of the cafe I said out loud "Come on, at least ask her her name!". I enjoyed the film greatly, but now I recognise its problems.

What I don't like about this is just how lazy the multiverse concept feels. Even as a virtual non-fan of the films, I was interested to see how the Marvel film universe would incorporate the character of Norman Osborn. Maybe he strove to fill the void left by Stark's death in the realm of tech, maybe he was able to really take over as one of the key figures of the US during the events of that time when most of the population had vanished. Probably not great ideas in hindsight, but what they are far more interesting than is just pinching another film's version of the character. I mean, Mister Jameson was clearly a different character from the Raimi version but played by the same man, why not do the same for Dafoe's Osborn? It just feels like the laziest possible way of generating hype from old fans, without putting any effort into giving the character an interesting place within this universe. Now, even with all that said, Dafoe was the best part of this film, no doubts about that, but I just wish his talents could have been allowed a more interesting take on the character.

You me mentioned how Ock should’ve had no clue as to who Gobby was in NWH and how it messed up the raimi canon. Though, one detailed you skipped over is when Spider-Man fought off Ock at the end of Spider-Man 2, Ock said "I should’ve known Osborn wouldn’t have the spine to finish you!", implying that he knew that Osborn was the one behind that Goblin suit. It’s confusing to think about since Norman’s secret identity at the time was known by no one but Peter. So, it looks like the logic was broken beforehand, lol

On the topic of green goblin, the way I always interpreted his last few minutes alive, when he’s trying to reason with Peter as Norman, was that the goblin was in full control, he just chose to let Norman speak, to try to trick Peter. To me it’s not so much that they battle for control, it’s that the goblin knows Norman can get close to Peter and those he loves, so he strategically weaponizes that personality. If that is the case, I feel like that is carried over in the goblins dialogue in no way home, when he tells Peter he’s been watching him from behind Norman’s cowardly eyes. I feel like after about the mid point of Spider-Man 2002, anytime we see Norman, it’s because the goblin chose to give up control to position himself in a better place to hurt Peter. That’s just way I’ve always looked at it, but I could definitely be wrong.
