Spider Web in Korea

12 жыл бұрынA web we found outside that was strung out at around 30 ft. When we touched it, it felt like a thick string of dental floss and it wouldn't break from light pulling.

Now THAT’S some Spider-Man web, if just at that thickness it’s that strong, I can’t imagine how strong it could be at pencil width

chezboi it depends if it can manage a humans weight. w = m * g Let’s say you weigh the average mass a human weighs. weight = 62 * 9.8 = 607.6 In conclusion, based on your weight you’re gonna need more than a single strand of webbing

That is very cool. If you stretched almost anything else like that it'd droop down from being stretched out. This on the other hand snaps right back into place every time with just as much tension as before.

Yeah we were pretty surprised to find it and the spider that made it was about as big as a golf ball.

That stuff can probably be used to make bowstrings which are practically weather and break resistant and does not need to be waxed often. As a bowhunter, I try to get the best strings because I don't want strings breaking while strung on my prized recurve hunting bows.

The reason the spider didn't come investigate is because you your plucking the web too hard. They can sense the vibrations and tell if it's prey or something too big.

A spider web string the with of an average rope would actually be so incredibly strong it could hold a plane if it was stuck to it... so yea spiderman would work if we could reproduce a spider web in a lab...

Spider webs are as strong as steel it’s just that they’re easy to break because of how thin it is

Yes, and it's also 5 times less dense than steel. So, 1 lb. of spider silk is as strong as 5 lbs of steel.

Marianov Beygerowich it checks all the unique boxes for a DBS. The strength and the long clothesline style web (including the technique used to create it) lead me to believe that a darwin bark spider managed to find it's way to Korea through unknown means

That's made by a Darwin Bark Spider it's an orb weaver and has the strongest silk of all spider it's on Guinness World Record. and they make 25 meter bridge lines. So Cool

I’m here now 7-8 years later I walked into a web , luckily the spider was higher than me I walked into the bottom of it scared the highest fuck out of me I looked behind me and it was crawlin’ to the ceiling it was huge for a non tarantula.

That's impressive, it's so strong even though it's so thin. We should be building stab and bullet proof armour for police, security and soldiers out of this amazing stuff. When I find spiders in my room, I leave them to roam. Occasionally I will accidently kill one, but I try my hardest to avoid this. When I've killed them, it's because I didn't see them there, I always feel really bad when it happens. Any time I find a dead spider, I don't put it in the bin, I put it outside where it can rest in peace. I have such respect for spiders. When I was a teen, my brother wanted to kill one of those big house spiders because he said it would set off the burglar alarm. I didn't let him do it and stood my ground, he wasn't going to harm that little spider when I was around. I don't let people hurt spiders when I'm around. No-one is gong to harm my spiders!!!!
