Putting the Spiderfarmer SF-4000 through its paces to see if it can hang (ha!) in a 5x5. Thanks to spiderfarmerebay for sending the light for free to test.

Nice maps! This is basically a nice starting point if starting out with this light..very detailed! I picked up this light on a sale... decent price for $450 and thought I would give it a try..they have updated the boards and took diodes from the center and bunched them out in the corners. The Atrium 100watt light is very similar (or vice versa) and they added more far red diodes. With the relocation of the diodes it hopefully has a better overall coverage.. however I've not found a par map of the new layout yet. ✌️

i bought the sf 4000 partly based off your testing. they sent me the 2021 version that has the better light distribution the diodes are spread out in the center and packed in the corners. i was gonna run mine at 30inches but i think i can go closer due to the better light distribution. kinda wish they would send you a 2021 version your testing is next lvl.

@@TitleTownStacker yea they have the title listed as the 2021 model they havent updated pictures or anything just the title on amazon that i seen. when i got it i was a bit sceptic but i had contacted spider farmer they said it was the new 2021 version should be better for seedling and clones and overall better the center par is lower and more spread. I dont have a good par meter to test, just been using cellphone and lux conversion and it seems to drop more consistent from center to edge or corner compared to testing seen in this video. still nice to see spider farmer taking feedback and making improvements im happy with the light. went from a 2x4 with sf-2000 to this sf4000 in a 4x4.

Love the setup you have. Question though. Since this light, as of the date you posted this video doesn't really seem to do a 5 x5. Then what do you suggest for a budget-friendly LED light for a 5 x 5? Today there is an SF-7000 LED Grow Light that claims to be a 5 x 5 (but so did this light you're testing) and presently the price point for it is $740.00usd. I've crunched some numbers but am not really ready to pull the trigger on the SF-7000 LED Grow Light for that price considering my 1000 HPS is doing the job in my 5X5. Your thoughts, please. And all over the net, most people claim min to flower with is to be 400 micro muls.

Flowered AA grade in a 6.5 x 6.5 closet space at 330/460 watts, then full 460 watts for last three weeks. Terpy and dense. Low heat with mini desk fans and low energy use. Hands down, the best bang for the buck. Made back cost in one harvest (coco coir with organic amendments).
@nickspeakstruth133
@nickspeakstruth133 2 жыл бұрын
Considering the fact that even a sub par grower should be able to pull close to a gram a watt…… I would hope you’d recoup investment plus quite a bit more with grams going for an average of $10 a piece. You should’ve gotten 3x your money…. Minimum. If not you’ll need to do some extra research and get your growing skills up lol
@WorthyBuzz
@WorthyBuzz 2 жыл бұрын
@@nickspeakstruth133 Are you trolling on a year old comment? I mention I’m a happy customer with a light that paid for all my equipment and supplies in one harvest, and you spring into action? You think this is where your services are needed? You thought, “the World needs and cares to hear what I say”
@nickspeakstruth133
@nickspeakstruth133 2 жыл бұрын
@@WorthyBuzz correct, because they should have realistic expectations. A gram a watt is not at all a “good” grower by any means. So using that as a base starting point is a good measure. It’s not really the “best bang for the buck” though tbh because those who buy cheap, buy twice. Poor man pays twice, rich man pays once. Better to spring for higher quality lights and get the 2.5 grams a watt, then get UV/IR bars and run those to get an extra 6-8% thc levels in the last 2 weeks of flowering. Age of comment is irrelevant because you mentioned nothing that was time specific, neither did my response. You also were so triggered by a simple observation that you responded within the hour to an “old comment thread”, so I fail to see any relevant point in your attempted cop out. Fact of the matter is, you get what you pay for. I’ve purchased an sf4000 before and for a beginner with no experience in a 3x3 it would be a great light. This thing doesn’t even hardly have the footprint to cover a 4x4 the way they say it will and that’s extremely obvious based on these data sets provided in the video. Even the corner foot around it is struggling. If people want “dense and terpy” colas as you suggest are what this light gives, they’d be shocked to see the density of colas from a better light, all I’m saying. They could still achieve that with a 3x3 tent rather than a 4x4 though too if they were dead set on this light, plus they’re cheaper. You’re welcome for the free advice from a person that knows a thing or two because he’s seen a thing or two.

@@nickspeakstruth133 yeah... ummm... If you felt this strongly about spider farmer being cheap "poor man's" gear.. then why the hell are you watching a review video about one of their products? I am a new grower and to be honest I'm looking at this fixture because all the "poor man" companies like Viparspectra, Mars Hydro and Spider Farmer are producing results with current growers showcasing their usage. With all of your sage wisdom and expensive gear.. do you have any grow series up? Nope but Hygro hydro, Inside Hydro and Grow to Learn and 2x2 tent grower are killing the game and teaching with what you call poor man's gear. So as a new grower, unless you can show and teach with a KZfaq channel of your own, keep the free advice to yourself.

Cant thank you enough for the work your doing it is so informative. I have a general LED question , with the 301 b chips and meanwell combo being essentially the industry standard could you replicate these same results if you purchased say five of the bloomspect ss1000 which uses 301 b and the 100 meanwell at 79 bucks on Amazon, so for 400 bucks that would be pushing 500 watts though mean well drivers powering 1090 diodes, I guess my question is with every one using the same components , cant the same results in theory be achieved by all the various light companies? I ask because I compared the bloomspect ss1000 to the sf1000 and they arw identical with one exception and that is the sf1000 uses 72 cool white diodes and the bloomspect uses 70 besides that they use identical parts, with the sf 4000 running $560 on Amazon you could get 7 of the ss1000 bloomspects for the same price pushing more wattage with a few hundred more diodes? I know this is is a long winded question but with so many people using the same parts its a bit confusing as a consume

Agreed, especially if targeting a 5x5. I'm sure the increased cost of upsizing the heat sink, and the resulting increased shipping costs, etc. are also factored into their equation to be able to sell the unit cheap enough though.
