Spike Milligan, comic genius and a very fragile man. Suffered manic depression most of his life but that fuelled his creativity, this interview is brilliant to listen to, gives us an insight into his mind. Eccles WAS Spike.

Spike isn't as complicated as he thought he was, and Clare unpicked it, I bet Spike regretted doing this

Yeah he is amazing in his strength and openess. He was afflicted with very severe manic depression yet still served in the war and became a comic genius. I remember loving his book as a kid and went on to develop SchizoAffective disorder myself. Luckily I do not get those deep depressions but blunted emotional numbness and hypomania seasonally. I see him as a success story of how severe illness can be managed and need not destroy our lives or our true selves.
