Addison, I want you to know it is absolutely okay to step away from your family especially when they are being toxic. You are now an adult & as hard as it can be sometimes you had to take the toxic out of your life. When they prove to you differently then you can let your family back into your life. It takes work all around. I had a terrible relationship with my family so I moved away at 18, it was the best decision I could have ever made for myself. Now that I’m 26 I have an actual relationship with my parents it took YEARS tho but now they respect me and respect my decisions. A point I never thought I’d get to. If there’s anything I can recommend is don’t be scared of what your family will think, work on yourself & your career… your parents will miss you. But sometimes it takes that for your parents to grow. Also… therapy is amazing for families as well.!
