Simply brilliant! Very thorough and a blessing to many I pray. I have been called to the spiritual life as a hermit for over 12 years yet have dealings in both the spiritual realm and in mental illness.God reigns. And he will never abandon us as he promised he draws us so close in our sufferings. Saint Pio once said “suffering is a gift, blessed are those who know how to profit by it .” God love you for your work, the Lord shines through you .

Thank you so much to everyone behind the making of these videos. This is a great and much needed topic to hear about. Thank God for his grace and strength that leads us through those great darknesses. Thank God for sending us our savior who truly understands our suffering. Thank God for the saints who can be examples for us to learn and grow. Thank God for the doctors and therapists who have studied and given their lives to helping others. Thank God for the friends and family that help us back up when we're down, who are always by our side. And thank God for the Catholic Central team who continue to faithfully create content and work to help strengthen us in our faith and bring us closer to Him. ❤️

Thank you for your nice words. We agree, the Church needs to step it up when it comes to Mental Health issues, though it is doing a much better job. Many parishes now have mental health ministries and resources and work with organizations such as NAMI to help those who need it.

Hi Nadia, taking care of yourself is very important, it is literally a "Pro-Life" topic. We are not sure what you mean when you say that being a Catholic has made it difficult to take care of yourself, but we hope that this video gives you some better guidance.

Many dioceses will say, "we have 70 parishes, you'll have to check out which ones have a mental health ministry or support group." NO! This is negligence. They are admitting that they don't keep track of such issues themselves.

Why are some people long suffering whereas some people never suffer at all? Not everyone is born equal or alike.
@CatholicCentralVideos
@CatholicCentralVideos 3 жыл бұрын
Patty, this is a good question. We think everyone encounters suffering in their lives, some of it is due to the choices they make in life and others for reasons that are out of their control. People also deal with their suffering differently than others - they can internalize it or externalize it. We all do know people who do seem to have more than their fair share of suffering in their lives, though, and we can only hold them up in prayer and be good friends to them.

I’ve had depression, anxiety, and minor OCD for most of my life (I’m 21) and in November I had been so scared and sad. I was scared because I was terrified that there might not be an afterlife, I began increasing my therapy sessions and returned to regular (virtual) church sessions. I am not Catholic I am Anglican but both have helped me a lot.
@CatholicCentralVideos
@CatholicCentralVideos 3 жыл бұрын
Welcome back, Warhammer Historian, we're glad to hear that therapy and your church services are helping, so by all means keep doing what you're doing. Having the additional burdens of depression and anxiety can sometimes hinder the process of maturing in faith and that's why it's great to use this two-pronged approach. Maintaining both sides is important. Did you have a chance to look at our reply to your comment in Life After Life? As we pointed out, uncertainty about such things as the afterlife is a normal response for people coming to grips with their faith. We also pointed out that our faith promises bodily resurrection and life of the world to come. Both Catholic and Anglican theology profess that body and soul cannot be separated. Together they combine to make the body/self, the whole person. When our body is resurrected in its ideal state, how could our soul and personhood not rise with it in the most perfect version of ourselves? Meantime let God, working within you through Church and therapy, bring you “life to the fullest” (John 10:10) -- his will for us in this life as much as the next.

Spirituality is all inclusive. only science separates them. God created a whole person, spirit soul and body.I had mental illness for a long time, from childhood. It was surrendering my life to God daily, reminding myself im not in control he is,going to daily mass, rosary and contemplative meditation everyday. Walking. over a period of time all those things got me well. I can't rest on my butt it's a lifetime's work one day at a time one step at a time. We are spirits in human bodies.

Hi Tony, thanks for sharing your beautiful story. Many sufferers, of course, require professional counseling in addition to the kind of healing your spirituality brought you. May God continue to bless your steps!

I'm a married man having three kids , I'm experiencing a feeling that someone or some people are suffering intensely around my neighbourhood or or somewhere not very far. can u help me what is this sort of feeling is psychologically n spiritually?
@CatholicCentralVideos
@CatholicCentralVideos Жыл бұрын
Hi Edward, since we most likely do not live in your area, we cannot be sure whether your issue is a spiritual one or a psychological one…or maybe both? Our advice to you would be to speak to a trusted priest, deacon, or spiritual director. Let them know of your concerns, they may be able to shed some light on it. Continue being attuned to what is going on around you and in your family. Perhaps this is a time for spiritual growth and you are being shown the next steps on your faith journey. Is the Spirit calling you to some ministry? There are so many great ministries that serve the suffering and marginalized, and we are sure your parish has opportunities for you to help. We hope your journey brings you peace. God bless and thanks for sharing.

@CatholicCentralVideos
@CatholicCentralVideos 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Edelbert, the most important thing is to make sure your friend is getting help. Once you are sure of that, sometimes having an attentive ear and a shoulder to cry on is what a person needs most. There are a lot of resources out there to help, we would suggest you go to NAMI.org to find help.

@CatholicCentralVideos
@CatholicCentralVideos Жыл бұрын
Hi Bernard Lourenco. We are not sure what you are talking about here when you say you are suffering from OCD against God. What we can say is that if you feel as if you are suffering from any type of OCD, you should probably speak to a licensed therapist. If you harbor anger or negative feelings towards God, that is not necessarily an uncommon thing. Perhaps it might be good to set up an appointment with a priest, deacon, or Spiritual Director to help get past these feelings. Often, our feelings against a person or, in this case, God, are a reflection on something we feel about ourselves. The right person will help you to understand and get past this feeling and provide healing for you be it spiritual or mental or both. Please know that we hold you in our prayers.
