I used a piston motor Eaton 74315daw. No I didn’t use a auto cycle on there yet but i have the part to make it return and shut off now for it just haven’t got them on. I do have a updated build video on my channel for it. Thx for watching. Also there is a video of the 6 way wedge on it too.

Mine will bust up to 25” anything bigger goes in the other splitter on my channel. I broke the 6 way wedge blades off within 45 mins of the first run. Backed up and punted with just a 4 way. Two reasons beam wasn’t heavy enough which is 6x6 tube 3/8’s wall. The other is that if it gets stuck on the push it takes way more time to get it pulled loose than it does just to split the big pcs again. Two things I would change about mine and on the next one. I would make it 6-8 feet longer currently 14’ on the valley and add more to to log deck. The wedge metal is super thick mainly 1”. The part the wedge slides up and down on is 1.75x5” cold rolled 1018. That chain is actually 2100 chain. Its 100 pitch and double links. One more thing i will change on the second one is a large rod cylinder 5” bore with 3.5 in rod for faster cycle times. Im running 31 gpm now with 7 second out and back. Good luck on ur build.

So i picked a pump that is for a differential or rearend. Its used to pump oil to a cooler and back from jegs. I plumbed it into a loop with a needle valve inline to create some back pressure to the pump. Between the pump and the needle valve is a tee that feeds the bar. So if u open the needle valve no oil to the bar. Closed puts full flow to the bar which is way to much. So ya have to fined a happy spot for the setup but with it like this ya have to tune it for the temp ur working in. Good part is the pump runs under hardly any load. Pump was a little high but people have had really good luck with longevity on them. Hope this helps. If ya need more info email me at lambertj06@gmail.com

I would move the operators station further away from the saw. Big chips hurt. The saw works very well maybe a few more rpms would be nice but it has enough torque to power thru. Cuts most blocks in 5-6 seconds plenty of time for the splitter. Thx for watching

@@mowbetter2010 put a mesh screen/grate up to use as a guard to stop them.

I will be in the market to build these hopefully middle of 2023. But a little bigger and more powerful.

Its a eaton 74315 piston motor requires 31 gpm. Im running it at 31 gpm and 3000 psi but it will handle 5000 psi little over kill but seems to work well with the 3/4 pitch saw chain

@@mowbetter2010 John, I thought I read that you where running the saw from a 15 gpm pump? What engine and hydraulic pump are you using to run the saw? Also did your 74315 piston motor have a tapered shaft ? If so where did you get a tapered lovejoy coupler for it or did you turn it down yourself on the lath?

I really don’t have one we machined most of the parts for it other than the bearings

Ebay was the cheapest place to get both. 1400 dollar motor for 300 and 400 bar for 100 bucks

The wood i had last year was was to big but it was cheap. Most was over 20”. The link is the splitter on my buddy’s channel with the conveyor and table. Thx for watching.

I bought the hydraulic motor off eBay and I built the pivot and bearing for the drive shaft. I did buy the sprocket for the chain.
