Hey girlies!! One audio suggestion/comment: for some reason the episode itself is always really quiet to me even when I turn up the volume on my phone. I know it's not that I can't hear lol bc the ads are always blaring. Maybe something with the levels when you edit the audio causes this? Not sure if other people have this same issue, but wanted to let you know my experience! I like watching on KZfaq rather than just listening on Spotify, but this makes it kinda annoying

When Sierra mentioned the ”checking myself in every reflective surface” all my neurons fired-I felt such a flood of emotions and like ”being caught” vibe, I think I never named it and it was such a shock to hear someone else do it as well - I am ”checking” my body so many times during the day as a plus size girl, that it is insane. It was such a groundbreaking moment for me to hear Sierra say it out loud, I need to think on it. Perhaps Sierra you can talk more about this issue in future episodes?

Shark Tale was definitely one of those movies that me and my siblings quote often. I am trying to get my son into all the toons, Disney, Dreamworks, Nick (went to see the paw patrol movie this past weekend, it was good. Glad i eased him into going to the movies). One habit I am trying to get better at would have to be quitting things when i get overwhelmed and or when it doesn't seem like it would be "perfect"

This discussion about body checking reminded me of a potential video idea for you all! “A day (or week) without a mirror.” I was inspired by a woman who hiked the Appalachian trail. She reflected that without mirrors, she stopped judging her physical appearance and instead found herself in the way she persevered, thought, and interacted with other hikers on the trail. This may be impractical for you all but I thought it could be fun to watch!

Yes. This would be such a cool idea. I personally removed the full-lenght mirror from my bedroom so if I want to check how I look I have to intentionally go to another room and that has helped me so much. I was constantly body checking myself when I had it available all the time while getting dressed

I just want to add in to the body checking convo. Body checking as a clinical term is a very specific thing that has to do with repetitive compulsions and ruminations (most often related with an ED or body dysmorphia). Yes, there are people online who may post their body checks, but body checking is very personal and I would never want anyone to see me doing that because it’s incredibly embarrassing to me. I think the term gets overused a lot and used in situations where it doesn’t apply (not saying you guys were talking about it this way, just wanted to add on). Of Herbs and Alters has an amazing video on this topic.

I just wish that I could come to LA and do that Burlesque-class. Sounds like I could really use it, because I have a hard time loving my body ánd other parts of myself. Unfortunately I don't know if I'm ever gonna be able to do that, because I live in the Netherlands. So LA is realky far away and probably way to expensive.😅🙈😢

I found it! It was a song from 1976 and it was by a band called Ros Royce. I do have to say, if you grew up with Christina's version, hers is a tiny bit more swinging or soulfull, I think. But it's cool that some songs can do well again almost 30 years later!!
