@@Sky-si1iv I'm the opposite. I felt it was overrated. Not trying to be contrary, it just had a lot of problems with the writing. "The Orphanage" is a beautiful film. Not only is it frightening, but also very moving. The final scene always gets me. Another moving film about the dead returning is "Truly, Madly, Deeply." A) This is a great list. B) THANK YOU for your Caveat review. I'm usually dissatisfied with ambiguous films with loose ends, and this movie has several--but I actually find that I LIKE not knowing what happens in the end, or why the brother kept implying the father was not a good man. That entire sequence with the main character in the crawl space with the body had me clenching my b-hole. No cheap jump scares. Supremely masterful work with lighting and darkness and musical score. I hope they decide to release this Shudder movie on DVD as well!

Great list Emma and very surprising. I’ve seen all the movies except Room. I liked most of them. I appreciate the fact that you really went for it. Black Swan is one of my top three favorite movies of all time, and I wrote a massive literary paper on a comparison of it and Perfect Blue my senior year of college. I feel like it's rarer nowadays to see people praise that film as much as I always wish they did. I'm so glad to find someone else who really loves it!

Loved the video Emma, but I was suprised about your take on quiet place 2. I personally didn't think it was better than the first. Probably would give it a 6 or 7. Otherwise, your list was spot on for me. In terms of horror sequels that are better than the original, I'll throw out a couple that I favor: dawn of the dead, evil dead 2 and army of darkness, maybe exorcist 3, Annabelle creation, and let's do T2 for the fringe horror pick. Keep up the awesome work! I appreciate the shout out to eyes wide shut as well, there is definitely something eerie about that film.

One of my very favourite horror/thriller movies, not on your list, has to be Doctor Sleep (Director's Cut). Really really solid, it was such a surprise, and a very refreshing one. Gerald's Game is up there, with The Killing of a Sacred Deer, too. Great list, Emma!

Delighted you mention Theatre of blood. What a classic, A few years back Diana Rigg (rip) who plays the daughter, had her talented daughter reprise the role for a theatre production performed (wait for it) at the Shakespeare globe theatre in London. Will never get over the fact I didnt see it

Hi Jenna, I just discovered your channel and love it. A horror movie fave of the 70's is "Shanks" (1974) starring world-famous mime, Marcel Marceau. He plays a mute puppeteer who uses a deceased scientist's invention to control dead bodies like puppets. Most macabre!!! Keep up the good work! (A senior living in New York)

YT just recommended this video to me, and I really like this list! There were a few I disagreed with, although most of those (maybe all) were prefaced by, "this one is very polarizing," and all were given solid reasons why they were rated highly. I'm going to have to check out other videos here, after I take notes on the ones I didn't know about, of course.

Thanks very much for sharing your 10/10 list with us, Emma. There are so many ways to do a Top Ten horror list (including sub-genres) that I always feel I'll learn about another new film or remember something that I haven't seen in decades. Anyway, I thought I would share my Top Ten horror/thriller lists as well. I looked over all the films I've rated 10 so far in IMDB. I decided to not include films from classic series like Universal and Hammer, along with "creature features" and kaiju films. I could probably do top ten's on all those subgenres alone. That left me with finding my top ten horror and top ten thriller. So here we go: Top Ten Horror 1. THE HAUNTING (1963) 2. HALLOWEEN (1978) 3. RINGU (1998) & THE RING (2002) - had to put them together as I like them equally 4. SINISTER (2012) 5. BLACK CHRISTMAS (1974) 6. PREDATOR (1987) - ultimate action/horror with essentially a slasher plot 7. THE BLAIR WITCH PROJECT (1999) 8. THE CONJURING (2013) 9. SLEEPY HOLLOW (1999) 10. THE WHISPERER IN DARKNESS (2014) Top Ten Thriller (some with mystery elements) 1. PSYCHO (1960) 2. JAWS (1975) 3. SCREAM (1996) 4. IDENTITY (2003) 5. THE LAST OF SHEILA (1975) 6. DIABOLIQUE (1955) - French film 7. REAR WINDOW (1954) 8. EXPERIMENT IN TERROR (1962) 9. DIAL M FOR MURDER (1954) 10. DUEL (1971)

One of my absolute favorite things about all of the Stephen King books that I've read are the back stories that are told about the supporting characters. I will never get enough of the entertainment that goes into every book of his on account of being able to know exactly what has happened with each person that appears and how they fit in play a part and the protagonists life and even to death in most cases.
