I can't believe some of the things being done and said by these Sports Card "influencers". Enough already! They aren't making nearly the money they want you to think they are.

A 2023 baseball card of Tom Brady, that was photoshopped is selling for 10k. And he is retired and never played baseball. The card is worth what someone will pay

The greed took over very quickly! It used to be fun. The word value totally ruined it for me. When somebody opens somethin, gets somethin good and the 1st thing they do is say "corners look good, centering is a millimeter off" i turn it off. Greed is 1 of the deadly sins no one seems to acknowledge. Now it ruined a great hobby.

I've collected for over 30 years. The crowd that jumped into the hobby during covid has put it in a state I've never seen. It's all about money, even.for the kids. And it's all been cultivated by the Geoff Wilson's and cc2's on the internet.

I quit collecting sports cards a year ago. Haven't bought 1 blaster box or single pack. It's dumb now. I use to enjoy it but it's gotten stupid over years. Fun done.

There has always been pop culture in the hobby. Just because you don’t like Taylor Swift doesn’t mean she shouldn’t be in the hobby. Sports in general have always tried to combine with pop culture. This way you combine the best in both worlds. Not everybody likes sports and not everybody likes pop culture but this way you get common ground to the hobby. You can also never put a ceiling to what someone will pay for a card! That’s a huge part of the hobby! Now about the Sports investor, it seems that he is extremely proud about his new shop and I don’t blame him. He is doing what most collectors only dream about! Telling the world how much it takes to open a business like that is very useful to someone who is wanting to do same. Collectors are going to collect what they want. Flippers are going to buy what is hot at the moment. It’s when you try to do both at the same time is when it gets risky because from one game to another that card that was hot is not hot anymore so you need to be constantly on top of that if you are a flipper.

I collected a lot growing up in the 90s and this so called hobby has took a drastic turn for the worst I can’t wrap my head around how these people think those cards are worth that much because in reality their not and as long as people keep buying these way overpriced boxes believing these cards are actually worth that much nothings gonna change except for the card companies are gonna be making billions it’s honestly nuts

Same thoughts. That's why I collect for the player thats on the card that I like. Not for money or resale value. Great pictures on cards. It's not an investment, it's a hobby.

The last boom of the late 90s was the same with lots of clueless people pumping cash in. When the bottom fell out they sold off for a loss and found a new grift. The difference now is the amount of money the noobs are sinking into cards that will never bring a return.

I personally stay away from idiots like the ones you mentioned! I just started collecting again because since my Spurs drafted Wemby the itch came back! I just focus on what I like and barely buy retail or anything else cause the prices are ridiculous and sell at decent prices what I want to move on. I personally suggest that if you love the hobby for what it is which is the love of collecting cards and not $ like the sports card investor, then the hobby doesn't have to change! Also I stay away from people who wanna get rich off one card or cards! It really is a shame what it has become though...

Last time I checked Hobby existed LONNNNNNNNGGGG before any "influencers" even existed and before KZfaq was even a thing as it relates to cards. If you don't like "influencers", Don't watch them - I'd say most folks in hobby aren't glued to KZfaq watching card content all the time.

From my experience, Caitlin Clark is super liquid. I sell a lot of her cards and they usually get bid up pretty quickly.

😂 well, I’m not boasting about all the money I’ve made off the people who watch my content. I can assure you I am into collecting Tom Brady cards and I am not jealous of what any one else does. I know what I like and what I don’t like about the hobby and I’m focused on what I’m doing.
