Rangers, go ahead and do your victory lap! You guys defeated us fair and square, although us not showing up certainly did no favors. All the best to you moving forward. Look, I've been supporting the Capitals since the turn of the millennia, I'm used to seeing my team getting bounced like this. In the end, only 1 team will be hoisting the Cup, and it's not mine this year. At the very least, I still have that 2018 Cup win to look back on if we're truly entering the rebuilding phase. Congrats, Rangers!

There’s definitely something to be ashamed about. They weren’t a real playoff team. -37. 2-14 on the power play while giving up 2 short handed goals. 0/6 on the PP in one game they lost by a goal. Not to mention they finished 40-42. Not sure how you aren’t ashamed by just getting there when you clearly didn’t belong then got absolutely embarrassed once you got there

Capitals Fans ......Thanks to your team for an amazing effort. Your team showed guts and resilience in the final weeks of the season to even make it into the playoffs. As a lifetime Ranger fan I can tell you for sure success in the NHL is cyclic. Todays amazing teams will all sink to the cellar and be the worst at some point as well as the reverse. Caps had so many injuries and had to play playoff style games for weeks just to get in. No question they were exhausted. They fought hard though so full credit to them. At least Charlie didn't allow Ryan to score on him lol. On to the next series most likely vs the Canes but hoping Isles extend the series to 7. LGR! 🔴⚪️🔵

Good win but the Caps weren't much opposition. Ovi was shockingly bad all series. The next round is going to be a lot tougher. Rangers need to tighten things up 5-on-5. Special teams are lit. Igor looks sharp. LGR.

My family was asking why I was getting so hyped up and loud during the caps final regular season game, and it was because I knew making the playoffs as the last wildcard was their absolute ceiling. They really had no buisness even being in that position, but that made it really fun to watch. Lindgren was magic, Ovi was scoring, it was simply fun as a sports fan. Props to the Rangers for winning like I knew they would, it was a fun series nonetheless.

Isles fan here. One of Mike Milbury's most stupid decisions as GM for the Islanders was firing a young Coach Lavi after just two seasons (that resulted in two playoff appearance) with the Islanders. Lavi now has a Cup win, and took two other teams to the Finals. Of coaches who have coached at least 500 NHL games, he ranks an impressive 14th all-time in winning percentage. I never thought i would say it, but i'm rooting for the Rangers to take out Carolina (on the assumption Isles can't win 3 straight games).

Good try, Caps. Hopefully Ovi sticks the last 2 years of his contract out and at last gets very close to Ovi’s record. Best of luck to the Rags against the Canes. I have the Canes taking that series we in my bracket, but out of all the series that will happen in the playoffs, I think it’ll be the closest, and it was only by a very small margin that I took the Canes, who I think will beat the Cats for the ECF and lose to the Avs for the SCF. Shesterkin and Anderson will keep the games in this next series as low scoring as they can, and I expect it to be lower scoring, very close games: tallies of 2-1, 3-1, 3-2. 1:02 Interestingly, the Penguins have not won a playoff series since 2018 as well. Just one series after their Stanley Cup. Interestingly, they both have had one Game 7 OT loss in the first round in that time. 4-3.

@@TheSnapback Wow, that’s true. The Rangers have a habit of doing that. For three consecutive seasons from ‘72 to ‘74, they eliminated the defending SC champs in the first round. They even kinda eliminated the SC champions in ‘70 by beating them in the standings on a tiebreaker to eliminate Montreal.

Well with DET it would have made for some more entertaining hockey. They are a young team with a lot of potential. Meanwhile WSH and PIT are absolutely going to need to do a retool if not a rebuild in the next couple years. PHI could have been an interesting series as well, though it could also have been a very boring series as well

They have tons of young pieces like McMichael, Lapierre, Protas, Fehevarhy, Sandin etc. Not to mention more top end prospects coming down the pipeline like Ryan Leonard and Andrew Cristall. The only core guys here from the 2018 run are Ovi, Oshie, Wilson and Carlson and Wilson isn't even that old. The Pens are screwed because they have nothing in terms of young talent so if they want to compete for a wild card spot next year they have to trade more draft assets or sign older players in free agency.

Washington should be in full rebuild mode. Its clear Ovechkin has hit a wall and chasing the all time goals record should be a priority for the team. Maybe you trade him for some pucjs along with a few others and look to the future.

There is a lot of trashing of Ovechkin at his age of 38. It showing a lack of respect from a lot of NHL fans. Playing the playoffs might be a thing of the past for Ovechkin, but chasing Gretzky's goal scoring record is still alive!
