Superb clarification! Also, when the ball falls on the ad rope without touching the ground it is considered six and the white line or any other previously marked line is insignificant in that case. Ad rope is always considered the boundary in ICC T20's. Third umpires with high resolution tv camera replays are not fools to give OUT. Only, dimwits who hate India's success create such controversies.

Hey I have checked it every single thing, that line doesn’t make any sense as you can clearly see that white line is slightly faded & not properly aligned. Next you can clearly see some boundary personnels were sitting there if the boundary was moved then they would have moved it back to their original position. If you see surya’s catch from top angle you can clearly see the boundary is perfectly aligned. If you put boundary cushion on white line then it doesn’t make any proper alignment. Last but not the least if you see the catch in a slow motion you can clearly see surya’s shoes didn’t touch any boundary. Guys it was a marvellous catch ❤

Thanks for the clarification. It was a legitimate catch and was examined by the third umpire from different angles before pronouncing his official decision. If that catch had changed the life SA team is not our problem. Out of two teams one team must win. SA was unlucky as they were closer to the win but we were lucky. Our win also was genuine. Hence let's stop debating on the unworthy topic. Even 50 over World Cup finals last year in india many were saying the catch of Rohit sharma was grounded by the Australian fielder, that means his wrist was on the ground while catching Rohit Sharma and hence he was not out. But third umpire gave him out. Had he been batting continuously we would have won that final also.

this line was not for this match, different matches are played in this ground and the boundaries are shifted a bit depending upon the pitch. please do not confuse.

I don’t think that the line in question is a “white line” that was marked using a grass marker. It is a line caused by grass turning yellow due to lack of sunlight because earlier the boundary rope/ hoarding was in that position. However it was evident that the rope was not pushed back by Surya. It is also not known when the rope got pushed back. Probably it was in this position since the start. Hence the brown line of dormant grass can’t be used as the boundary line in this case. Also keep in mind that the length of the rope is fixed. If it gets pushed outwards in one place it will compensate by getting pulled inwards in another place. Maybe the ICC should do away with the rope to mark the boundary and instead use a grass marker or whatever they use to mark the batting crease. This will prevent any such controversy in future.

ICC still has the film/video of the catch. So for all doubting people plz go and check and make sure. SKY catch was completely LEGITIMATE and India won the game fair and square . By 7 runs. Welcome to the next tournament and be very well prepared.

Not a single place is accurate and is continuously moved by the fielders. There is no question of the boundary line. Point is why a much clearer and close replays were not shown? You have such repeated replays on boundary/six or a ground catch, but why there is no much clearer version of the catch when the match was at such crucial stage? This would be dispelling the doubts of the bouncers.

You are only looking at the boundary line. What about the foot position. Zoom into the foot position. He actually touch the rope with his foot while holding the ball. Sir please look at all possibilities not only the position of the rope.

A bit of common sense... its a rope. If it is pushed out from direction then it would be pulled in (shorter) from another direction. The boundary is the rope. It was not changed after the all was moved. That is why the rope is there.

Yeah congrats to India. But the catch was questionable even when I saw the first replay it looked like something moved on the cushion. Also all the angles were not shown. The 3rd umpire was also very quick to make a ruling despite how close the game was and how crucial it would turn out to be. But that's T20 I guess.
