the schuster plug was developed by match shooters to get the most accuracy from the garand. Using the schuster also alows the shooter to use heavier bullets than the M2 ball by adjusting the internal alen screw.

I thought the Garand had a floating firing pin and single feeding cartridges is not recommended due to the possibility of a slam fire.
@BaguetteShooter Жыл бұрын
Hello, you are correct. I stopped doing that. Meanwhile the cartridges I use remain safe as the primers are hard enough. Buy yes it is not a good practice.
@q-man762 Жыл бұрын
You just need to ease the bolt half way closed before releasing it on a single load. Thousands of competitors do this safely slow fire requires single loading.

Good video, I have a question. When you do a quarter turn on the plug. Is that from the plug being all the way loosened to the left?
@BaguetteShooter4 жыл бұрын
Hello, it's from the factory position of the screw. In the user manual / on internet website they say to let the plug untouched until the setting on stand. From that I had only to use 3 ammos or 3 1/4" turn.
@jr33dav4 жыл бұрын
@@BaguetteShooter Thank you for the reply, so when you say 1/4" do you mean quarter inch? Or just one quarter of the diameter of the plug from factory position. Or is it the same?
@BaguetteShooter4 жыл бұрын
@@jr33dav Yes it's the same. In fact when you turn the internal screw you will feel like a ' click '. It's like zeroing a red dot. Once you have your good setting you add the lock screw and you tight it against the real setting screw. As I don't reload and use the same S&B ammos I'll never touch it anymore. And If I want to use dedicated Garand / M2 ammos that Partizan or S&B produce I have just to put back the original gas plug.

@BaguetteShooter3 жыл бұрын
Hey thank you for your comment. You have 2 small screws inside the gas plug. One for the setting and one to lock it. Be careful to remove the locking one and ajust the setting one.
@garagemetalshop79753 жыл бұрын
@@BaguetteShooter Thanks for the answer. I have the 2nd set screw out, but even trying to back out the adjustment screw counter clockwise, instead of turning the screw, it turns the whole gas plug counter clockwise. Do you take the plug out and hold it with pliers to back out the adjustment screw to zero?

@@garagemetalshop7975Yes it might be tight. In case of doubt contact the company I am just a simple customer. =)
@BaguetteShooter3 жыл бұрын
@@garagemetalshop7975 I am thinking, with the factory setting you have to rotate the small screw in the same direction of the rotation of the gas plug to tight it so it shouldn't turn also.

@Briandotmiller3 жыл бұрын
It’s not really to improve perfection as it is modernizing it. M1 specific ammo is super scarce right now but commercial 30-06 hunting loads are still all over the place. This just allows you to fire any ammo you want through your 80 year old rifle without the risk of damaging it
