Springfield Prodigy DS - EGW Ignition Kit

Upgraded stock Prodigy with EGW ignition kit. Had to fit disconnector, sear and tune sear spring. Factory trigger pull weight was over 5#, with part swapped out, got it to 4#. Once everything was cleaned up and fitted, trigger pull weight is less than 3#

Did this fix the sloppy disconnect hangup when racking the slide?

You don't need to do this to fix that issue, I did it because of the MIM parts and wanted add'l adjustments to the trigger. I would check your sear/disconnector/grip safety spring first. Also check your trigger overtravel setting screw.

guys are crack’n on your vid….i see potential and over time it’ll get better if you stick to it. i have the 4.25 and will be upgrading my trigger soon.

Did you have to do any polishing to your thumb safety? My egw and stock safeties don't fit with the new egw ignition kit. Thanks.

The thumb safety is a fitted part. I would not modify the stock thumb safety in case you want to go back with the OEM disconnector and sear. Since you have the EGW thumb safety, you will need to fit that to the new sear. I don't have a video to do that, but you can search KZfaq for fitting 1911 thumb safety. It is important that this is done correctly for function and safety since it involves restricting the movement of the sear against the hammer.

Yeah, not going to mess with any of the stock parts. I haven't run into many people or videos of people having issues with the thumb safety fit, so was curious if you did. Appreciate the response, and thanks for the video.@@redarmory

@@user-tv1lq6db9n Sorry I misunderstood your question. I did not have to do anything to the OEM safety, but when I added the DoubleTap thumb safety, It had to be fitted.

@user-tv1lq6db9n Did you have the hammer cocked back and insert left side thumb safety at roughly the 10 o'clock position while pushing the safety detent that is underneath the safety?

Idk where y'all get this 5 or more lb trigger pull. Mine has always been 4 and so is my buddies. Idk maybe our batch was made better idk but the trigger pulls I've seen on 5 or more guns have always been 4lbs.

I was using a mechanical trigger pull scale from wheeler, I am sure there's a variance between operators. Either 4# or more, the upgrade EGW kit made a difference.

What did you use to polish those parts?

Word of caution, test fit prior to doing any sanding and/or polishing. Parts you get might fit perfectly in your Prodigy. If you chose to go forward with it, I used a high grit sand paper on flat plate only on the sides of the sear (not on the engagement surface). As for the disconnector, same thing only on the circumference of the tip that protrude through the frame. I then finished it off with flitz by hand. Again to reiterate, no engagement surface was touched or modified.

@@AA_Tactical. the highest I had on hand was P800 but I would get higher if able...can take off slowly, can't put back.
