Spruce Tip Garden Ale Grain to Glass - Spruce Tips Beer
Grain to glass video of my homebrewed Spruce Tip Garden Ale. Made from spruce tips and homegrown hops grown here in my garden. Beer recipe is quite simple to let the spruce tips shine through.

I did a beer similar to this but used long leaf pine needles, because that’s what we have a lot of in Alabama . Worked really good. You have good videos, definitely on of my favorite content providers for homebrew.

I made a pine and spruce tip stout in February this year. Pale malt, roasted oats, roasted wheat and roasted polenta, with East Kent Goldings. Was lovely. With regards to drying the spruce tips - they end up becoming resinous in flavour, which is unpleasant. I made a black IPA last week.

That was a very nice, clear illustration of the brewing process from start to finish. (The location is fantastic too, of course.) Anyway, your video inspired me to experiment more with local ingredients. In my area of Japan, wild yeast is getting some attention lately. But nothing like spruce tips...I’ll have a look for our local equivalent!

You could have a metal shop form you a larger hopper for your mill. I've also seen people add extensions to the top and use pop rivets to attach it. Many thanks for showing the spruce tip harvest! I would have thought you would need much more spruce tips.

I have a very good friend who has a forest of Blue Spruce, I vacuumed sealed the tips and stored them in my freezer. I read that’s the best was to preserve them till you use them.

Hi Doctor. Yes you can dry them but you will lose a little aroma. But I would just put them in the freezer. Much easier. Will pick some too tomorrow. For beer sirup and liqeur.

Great Video, I just made a Spruce Tip Cream Ale a couple weeks ago. I used 1 quart of a spruce tip syrup which was made of 2 cups each, water sugar and spruce tips brought to a boil and steeped over night. I used Liberty hops, and Oslo Kveik and it turned out great. I heard you can vacuum seal and freeze spruce tips. Cheers!

No spruce where I live. At least I haven't found any down here in Uruguay, but there are plenty of other conifers. There is a plant looks like a weeping spruce but I am not sure it's even a conifer but the tips look like conifer and tastes citrus like. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Melaleuca_viminalis

@@DrHansBrewery What's your take on spruce tip tincture? I'm thinking about macerating it in some vodka - I've had great results with lavender or mint, but my experience with spruce is lacking
