Well, if they DO make a FFT remake, part of me hopes they patch Shirahadori so that it's no longer essentially Ultra Instinct. The rest of me hopes it stays just as deliciously broken as ever

As someone who plays exclusively on Switch I'm ready to see more of the big name Square Enix titles get dropped on the next Nintendo console.

The ps5 supply and availability killed its market share. I couldn’t get one when I wanted one, and now I’m mostly out of the habit of playing console games. And on the rare occasion I do, there’s my Switch with its amazing library of trpgs, jrpgs, and musou games. Almost everyone I play pc games with owned a ps4 and ps3. The 5 just didn’t have the library or the availability.

That’s what happens when you put all your eggs into one basket. I can’t blame them for avoiding Xbox series S/X, but they should’ve at least give the Switch a better shot. There’s nothing wrong with more HD-2D games.

FF 13 sequels, FF 14 FF 15 the Pixel Remasters Zodiac Age FF 12 Remaster snd Crisis Core Reunion all came out on multiple platforms. It's ts just 7R and 16 that have been exclusive to PS and we know 16 is going to come to PC eventually.

14 is an mmo, I don't count remakes and remasters, and a game coming to pc eventually doesn't help when the initial hype period is over.

@@TitaniumLegman The point is that plenty of FF new and old (and in between b/c let's face it, Crisis Core was locked to the PSP and was remade, so that's a new game for most) has been multi-plat since 13. Almost all of it in fact. Even if you only count new FFs and discount 14 for some reason that is four games, not exactly the drought you represent it as.

@@thant0s Naw but almost all their original talent was forced out or quit under negative circumstances during the time of the merger. In much the same as Boeing, they were once known for focusing on innovation and producing high quality products then post merger became focused on profits over everything.

Gee, who woulda thought: game available more = game sells more (shockedpikachu) I'll gladly take it; the more noteworthy JP brands that relent on the generational anti-PC stance the better. Just hope they can relax about the modding thing.

I’m upfront on it being the last mainline FF title (aside from FFVII-are trilogy) that I liked, so you’re in safe company here so long as you’re respectful.

Well, I can give FFXIV its flowers just fine… Just that I can’t engage with MMOs to save my life; unlike FFXVI it’s got a setting I like (and characters I give a damn for), and unlike said title *or* FFXV it’s got a plot I like.

Won't lie I don't expect SE to fix the core issue with their game. SE has struggled to create games placing fun first. Their developers care little about making games fun and more about making games technically look good. We saw what happened SE did that with FF13.

Both FF7 Remake and FF16 were a ton of fun, as are TOR, FF14, Octopath, Triangle Strategy, Harvestella and Stranger or Paradise. And those are just the ones I have experience with. I really cant agree with your view here, Navi.

@@navi2710 That's fair, but it's also very much a subjective view. Certainly not something to build a "the devs don't make good games, just good LOOKING games" off of.

@TitaniumLegman true, but while you enjoyed playing 16 and Remke you didn't go for platinum which is now only doable on a second playthriugh at a minimum. Remake did it, 16 did it and also Rebirth. 16 wasn't fun on hard mode as it didn't offer anything new and Rebirth was a complete torture.

Square Enix has been poorly managed for like a decade now. It's only through the success of FFXIV that has been covering all their bad business decisions. Which is a shame because they can make great AA games when they feel like it.

Ehhhhh I wouldn't say it's as bad as that. They have had a ton of great releases. They've just also had a lot of financial misses (beyond shit like NFT pushes and whatnot.)

@@TitaniumLegman True. But I wasn't talking about their releases. I was specifically talking about their managing of their business. Remember, these are the guys who looked at Tomb Raider 2014's 3.4 million copies sold in 4 weeks and said that it is a failure. They are also the reason why Hitman 2016 released in such a messy way. Never forget that this is the company that looked at The Quiet Man and thought that it was a good idea. You also overestimate the "ton of great releases" once you actually look at the games Square Enix developed over the past ten years. Most of them are misses or just meh.

@1wayroad935 That is very fair, their expectations for sales are INSANE. But I have to disagree. They have had so many banger releases that they've developed, Co developed or produced. The octopaths, live a live, TriStrat, TOR, FF16, the 7 Remakes, 14, etc etc. And those are just the ones that I have direct knowledge with.

all FFs from 1-15 including type-0/dissidia are on steam. square is failing not because of their exclusivity, but because their latest games storytelling is horrendous. 7 rebirth turned many a people away with chapter-18 and no one who was spurned will buy a sequel to that (myself included) and 16s was too long and had very weak sidequests, repitious combat and a overly long story. the decrease in week 1 sales show the franchise is selling less and less with each installment. plus the ps5 is not popular in japan and FF as a whole has become extremely westernized, people will go elsewhere. hopefully this course correct produces better stories....
