My own design of a square to make squaring the gantry on the Artillery Sidewinder X1 3D printer. STL provided below.

Sees an issue, resolves the issue and shows how, then freely gives the tool away for all to have. _THEN_ goes and collaberates with a viewer to create another version with is also freely distributed. What a friggin' rock-star!

What an absolute king. I'm in awe. I've unknowingly had an unsquare gantry for weeks, prints above a certain height were all failing due to nozzle scraping the top walls/infill. It was driving me NUTS. Then i stumbled on this video. HUGE THANKS FROM FRANCE BOSS!

Between 0.16 and 0.3 depending on the application.

Hello and thank you. Due to the limits of the printers precision, there would be no guarantee the parts would fit. I got it as close as I could and still had to machine down the ends of the gantry. Mine were not squarely cut from the factory.

Would you say this tool achieves a better result than a woodworking square?

Not necessarily, but it will make the process way easier and faster.

Hey, thanks for the share; when I open the STI in Idea maker, it shows as an invalid model, and the auto repair won't fix it. Is it OK to print?

Yes, but this square may not fit the Ender 3v2 exactly how I use it on here as it is custom designed for the Sidewinder X1. That being said it makes a great square for general use on a 3D printer.

It might, the way the gantry is mounted is a little different so the offset may be off by a little.

Hi, thanks for those information and STL, I've printed it . BUT I have a problem, I manage to do perfectly one side but the other side don't what to be at 90° ! i'm' on X2 and i also tried to unscrew to top and the bottom to be free and exactly at 90° both side but it's one or an other side not both :-( ... how can I do !? I've put your square on a side and I have a precision metal square on other side, thank you ( I've measure with a laser the distance between the 2 vertical gantry, I have exactly the same 0,320 m)

If one side is at 90 to the gantry and the other side is not, then your frame is a little skewed.

@@EtherealProject3D :-( I'll try to completely free to bottom and unscrew, I'm not sure it fixe , maybe if I remove the top and set ? ( but it will probably move back when I'll put back the top frame ...?

@@John-Smith-007 ahh you have the x2 ok. Yeah try to adjust the bottom as much as you can, sadly some of the machines dont have the best tolerances. My x1 uprights are tapered at the top. Im planning a total reframing of the machine. Just gotta get the time.

What if it turns out the frame is out of square?

As long as the vertical rails are parallel and the gantry is perpendicular, square to those rails, then there won't be any problems. The build plate will be parallel to the gantry if it is "leveled" correctly.

@@EtherealProject3D I don't think they are parallel. If i square the one side then the other appears to be leaning in toward the top slightly. Perhaps i can mirror the gantry square you designed then use it on both side simultaneously and shim the top extrusion?

@@EtherealProject3D Im not sure....I think the wheels become harder to spin. but it doesn't bind. Perhaps i should check the squareness of my square as well. Im printing the gantry square you posted. That should at least give me some answers. then I can print a mirrored one if needed and use it to make the z extrusions parallel. Ahh, when i first got this thing it printed so clean. It's still okay, but want to get it back into tip, top shape. Thanks for all your help!
