Been practicing The Strat on trading view with a paper trading account. Still adjusting to the plus sign by my P/L

One of the best trading teachers I've come across is Dan from the Chart Guys. He's been asked the same (sometimes stupid) questions over and over again and never does he come off as being annoyed by what people are asking. Everyone is on their own stage in the learning process and the reason why Dan is such a great teacher is that he constantly repeats himself to the point where it will eventually click for people. Embrace the stupid questions Sara. It will only make you a better teacher.

I'm not sure about others but my problem with stops is I didn't understand using lower time frames for entry and exit. I thought multi time frame analysis was just to establish FTFC so the trade is more likely to be in your favor. I was setting my entries on week or day triggers but as you mentioned in your video price never goes straight down or up. So often I would immediately be in a losing position when entering on a trigger because of slight market correction. (if you entered on a week trigger an entire day could go against you, before your desired scenario plays out) I would get out of positions at slight loses or major losses when entering on the week time frame. But with the loss, I wouldn't trade that stock for 31days because of wash sales. I think people keep asking because they may have been doing what I was doing. I am so thankful for the strat community. You all are true go givers. Thank you so much.

I have been doing continuity trades, this works the best. I can't trade counter trend. The key is Multiple time frame analysis. It is more forgiving to trade continuity than counter trends. Reversals continuity for the weekly and monthly works the best, and are the most profitable to he honest. I usually find more 2-2 reversals or continuity on the daily charts as they happen more often than a 2-1-2 and sit there and wait 3 days to find out you don't have a 2-1-2. I enter on the 5 mins on a 2-2 or 2-1-2 and leave it there for a swing. As for stop losses, I would put it just under where the reversal happened or where it bounce on the daily. What's your time frame for your trades? Are you always staring at your position on a chart on tradingview or ToS, and what time frame? Cheers and keep it up.

I understand the machine gun stops, but I would think that the early entrants would be moving their stops as the trade progresses. At the time of a reversal, I'll bet that not only are the local/recent entrants stopped, but so are the early ones who moved their stops to the local pivots.

im new to trading completely but have a good understanding of both support resistance/ supply demand- trading and now the STRAT THANKS TO YOU-I am looking to start some investments as well as some swing and day trades soon (been paper trading mostly). My question is on this subject (stop losses) But i prefer trailing stop losses with % as the value. Is there a tool or something to quickly find that value from the "wicks tip"? I understand where we put the initial stop but how can i convert that to a say 12% value- that way i can easily adjust them. Thank you in advance. Jeanette

Hey Sara thanks a million for making these videos - quick question on Tesla from Friday , would you have already had the 15 minute pmg marked off or did you mark them as you were watching Tesla’s action on Friday open?

Quick question about targets (such as the scalps on the 15min timeframe with TSLA). Would it make sense as a "Strat" trader to take half or more off at the initial target and trail the rest to see how far it goes (using pivots/bar-by-bar)? Especially in cases where there is a potential "pivot machine gun" lining up just beyond the first target? It seemed in many of the cases the price just kept going...

This is an old video but I hope you can respond. Just trying to learn. At around 23:20 of the video on the TSLA 15 min…there’s that 9:45am 2Down green candle with a huge wick that looked like a perfect reversal candle. If I saw this live, I would have taken a long entry on that next candle at 10:00am but looking at it in hindsight, that would have stopped me out. Is there a reason you wouldn’t have taken a long entry there if you saw the 10:00am candle turning into a 2Up live?

Hi Sara, loving the vids. I am confused about 2:33 where you say 2-1-2 reversal because it looks like a 2-1-2 continuation since the first 2 is already a 2 up. Mainly thinking about this because as a noob, Rob has counseled me to avoid continuations and only trade reversals.

If you were doing this with options contracts as you mentioned how close would your expiration be?

I've always calculated my position size as Shares= Trade Risk $/Spread where spread is entry-stop but in this case the spread is variable based on candle length. When the spread is small then my position size becomes gigantic in order to make the math work. Curious how you size. Thanks!

Hi Sara, thanks for sharing - really appreciate your videos. Hoping you can help me with a question. At 1:53 you state PYPL as a bullish setup on the weekly (2 down, 2 up reversal), the current weekly bar being the 2 up bar in the reversal pattern. When shifting to the daily time frame however the 2-1-2 entry (on 4/26) happened BELOW the previous weeks orange bars which means the current weekly bar would still show as an inside bar on 4/26 (not an up bar). The 2-2 reversal patter would not show on the weekly until 4/28 (after the 2-1-2 bullish entry on the daily). What was your reason for going long on 4/26 given the weekly pattern at that time?

Thanks for all your great teaching! With options, are you using alerts on the underlying and then manually entering and exiting option trades? Or have you somehow automated the connection between your chosen option and the underlying on which your charts are based?

Are you referring to a put when u place the entry above the target? Like in the Tesla example

Don't use a stop loss. The only thing it does is "stop you from being profitable" The big players use the level where all the stops are as liquidity. In other words ,they use your stop losses to fill their orders. That's why you always get stopped out. Here's what you do. Note in your mind, where you want to get out of the trade. If a candle closes at that point, get out. So many times, price will go to where your stop is..stop you out and then retreat. Don't get conned. And you should be trading higher time frames to get rid of all the noise. Swing trading works much better than day trading.
