At the end of Stéphane Grappelli and bands show at The Great American Music Hall, July 7, 1982, they were joined by David Grisman and band for Sweet Georgia Brown.
As it is pretty obvious they were really hitting it off together. They had been been playing together before, and that collaboration yielded the Stephane Grappelli/David Grisman - Live album that is, just like this show, very much recommended.

I saw Stefane Grappelli at Brisbane University in 1976. I was 14 at the time and wanted to be a rock guitarist. I was taken to this gig, I had no idea who Stephane Grappelli was, nor was I interested in some weird European jazz. That night changed everything for me; I found a teacher who taught jazz, I bought some Hot Club records. Supporting Stefane that night were 2 guitarists. One was John Etheridge (so fast), and to this day I don't know if the other was Diz Dizley or Ike Issacs. Both were incredible musicians. I am 55 now, still playing jazz, and still deeply in debt to Stefane and the wonderful musicians he surrounded himself with.

I was looking for a video copy of the 9/20/1979 Berklee Center in Boston show where Mark O'Connor holds the guitar chair with a cutaway flattop but I came across this one with Martin Taylor. I only wish that Martin had been given a few choruses and that this was a longer version altogether. Jeez, what a line up!

That's a great version by Grappelli and a very solid incarnation of the David Grisman Quintet consisting of some of the greatest musicians around like Mike Marshall, Darol Anger David Grisman and ROb Wasserman. I am not sure who the guitar player was in this clip...Thank you very much for sharing this

Yup. That's the guy. Tone Poems II. He also used to tour with Grappelli, which probably explains why he's playing in the video.

Proper musicians. Don't need electronic backing and no false "Divas". Music has been denegrated by false celebrity songsters/musicians. These guys are are amazing.
