I made me some stabilizer straps for my tree stand. I only spent little over $5.00 dollars and I bought them from Wal-Mart. They hold up to 500 pounds and work the same as the ones on the internet but for less.

I made this a long time ago. Some don't like it because they went and spent money on the real thing. At the time, I was waiting for tax refunds to just buy hunting equipment. Like tree stands, new rifles, and crossbows. People don't understand when are living on a budget and you love to hunt.

I'm still using the same straps from last hunting season. At frist I thought I should buy another pack of straps. But they still work.

I am almost done whole deer season with these homemade straps. I'm already going as high as 20 feet. I still don't like high places, but once pull the straps tight I'm there until I am ready to come down.

I’m all for saving $ but the alligator clips of the Third Hand Archery stabilizing straps are a LOT easier to keep quiet while putting the stand on the tree. You simply attach the alligator clips to end of the arm pads so no worries of metal to metal racket.

Summit sells utility straps 2 for $10 with tourniquet buckles. Weave one through the top near the bite plate and cinch around the tree....same functionality less straps more convenient.

Thanks for this demonstration. I'm a beginner - I've gone up 3 times in a tree, with my Summit Viper. I'm scared of heights so I'm taking it slow, only go up about 8 feet before that little voice says "okay, that's high enough!" Anyway I picked up a 2-pack of straps from Amazon for $6.53 that looks a lot like yours. 8 feet, with metal clasps. Hoping to use them somehow to stabilize the climber a little bit so I feel more comfortable up there. Good luck on the hunt!

Only thing I can suggest is spray paint the buckles and cover them with a bit of bike inner tube or Camo Form tape. I have done this man's method on all of my climbers.. I do also suggest that if you leave your stand in the woods, ALWAYS carry extra straps... Because of limb rats/mice/rats chewing on them!

Summit tree stands come stock with a safety cable outing dirt bike straps to connect your stand parts together is dangerous because you tighten them too much and the bottom part will raise and it won't get a bite the cable that comes with the stand is enough and you can adjust

These stabilizer straps are a bad idea. They do temporarily make the top platform more securely attached to the tree, but if you shift your weight off the bottom platform, the top releases and the bottom releases.

Me too supposedly you’re supposed to take the strap that holds the two stands together and go through that rail and around the tree and snitch it up . My friend took a file and sharpened the teeth on his stand not sure if you’re supposed to do that or not what are your thoughts
@JimmyHinton
@JimmyHinton 3 жыл бұрын
@@prowlingonmypreynthemwoods supposed file the coating off the teeth to keep it from making a squeaking noise on the tree. But homemade straps feel like it grabs tree and keep it from moving as you stand up. Instead of you having pressure on just feet portion. It puts pressure on both of them making it grip more. Because you are going to get tired sitting down all the time.

Does Thirdhand actually think that no one ever thought about strapping their stand pieces together? Yes they might have patented a product but they definitely weren't the first to think of it. They just made a product so people don't have to piece the system together. KZfaqs best feature is "how to" videos, trust me more people make most of the products on your website than buy them. Give the guy a break...

Jimmy Hinton I have used summit treestands for more than 20 years. I have used treewalker for the last 5. I have never, not once, turned, sat down on the seat portion and had it slip. As a matter of fact I usually have a hell of a time disengaging the seat portion from the tree when I’m ready to climb down. More power to you for selling hunting products but I found it very unprofessional to bust this guys balls for using a cheaper alternative to your product.

Jimmy: Sorry to hear about your troubles, glad you have your priorities straight. Putting food in your kids mouth before giving me $15 for a set of straps is commendable. Please remember that this is my job and how I put food on my kids plate. If you needed to do that for yourself, I do understand. To brag about stealing my design and idea to save a couple bucks appeared to me that you were trying to make yourself look good at my companies expense.
