I have one minute that will change your life. First off I'm 68 years old and am tired of carrying a tree climber, safety harness, and a backpack with food and all the things that I need for a good hunt. So I bought a two wheel deer hauler that I can load up as much as I want with no problems. It's easy to haul everything with no strain at all. Makes a very enjoyable hunt.

I used this method tonight in the woods working under a headlamp and it worked like a charm. My sons and I have had Summit Bushmasters for years and they were never a problem. The seat and backrest added another dimension to the pack up and this video nailed it!

I bought my Summit at 70yrs old its a great stand except for carrying it in and out...sometimes i carry it with the cables up mostly with them down...I heard the molle system is the way to go everything is tight and it rides great on your back...the real problem I have when I get a deer and you have to deal with everything...I use that cinch strap and make it a sling I can carry my gun or crossbow up ahead 50 60 yds drop them off and drag the deer separately...btw I'm 75 now

You tips are very valuable, Ive seen other people just pack up the summit just any old way. 3 additional tips. 1. when nested to secure the top and bottom pieces use the synch strap around only the MOST OUTWARD ENDS s of the seat rail and the MOST OUTWARD RUNG of the foot platform. this locks in stand 100%, forcing the teeth portion of the foot platform securely into the back bracing of the seat portion. And no need to use the pull cord to secure the outward ends as that where the synch strap has it squeezed together. 2. carrying the stand with the folded seat and seat back against your back can be improved by feeding the back rest portion thru one of the rungs, reducing the thickness against your back. 3. to reduce damage and make a more compact load when you release the cables from the tree, do not reinsert into trigger mechanism for transport. This causes extra ware on the cables two times, when you insert them for transport then a second time when you pull them out at the next tree to climb. Instead leave loose until the last thing to pack, then feed the two loose cable ends under the foot stirrups makes the stand more compact by several inches. may need to hold in place with a small bungie or a very handy gear snake. I love my summit titan and have used it for many years. Hope someone can benefit for these tips.

You need to try the extended footrest that summit sales for that stand. In my opinion it's the best accessory that summit ever came out with. it allows you to have more distance between the seat and the standing platform so it's quicker and easier to get up. It also puts your feet out in front of you instead of underneath you which is much more comfortable.

Best way for carrying if carrying with the cables down, for sure. If your hunting spots have all the young saplings like our’s do, though, you’ll get to your spot MUCH quieter toting your Summit upside down. That way the stand rides higher so there’s less aluminum down low for the underbrush to slap against. If you tote upside down you really need to take the padded seat off, but thankfully the new Summit seat buckles connect easily and quietly. The backpacking molle straps with the back pad work great to keep the platform bars off my back, and I also use one of those wide molle hip belts. Those are a game changer if you get loaded down with winter outerwear. All of my Vipers are older stands, but I didn’t pay more than $75 for any of them. Matter of fact, two of them have the old attachment system that I greatly prefer. Anyhow, I have a love/hate relationship with them, both old and new. (Yes, even the Viper SD) I love their comfort and I love getting naps in them. I also love how stable they are and their ability to level due to the geometry and the cables. I also like the ease of the stand up sit down climbing method and something to brace against for shooting. BUT I hate how bulky and loud they are compared to my cast aluminum hang on stand (Novix Echo) and (Hawk Helium) climbing sticks. And the other thing is that their profile really seem to make it easier for a deer to spot me in the tree.

I have the foot rest, hazmore seat, and third hand archery stabilizer straps on my viper. I also have the third hand bow holder I need to put on. I can pack it easy with the regular seat but with the hazmore I literally have it on the tree and going up in a minute. Same thing taking it off. Take the small part of the seat and pull it through your bottom section and the bottom and pull it up and clip to the top of stand. Then you can stick your bag or whatever there and have the seat against your back while walking inz

I do the exact same thing EXECPT one addition.. I made a strap that goes around my waist and attaches to the stand. I ziptied pipe insulation to it so it dont cut my belly at all. It helped ease the load and distribute the weight and when carrying a weapon you dont have to worry about the shoulder straps coming off your shoulder bc you are locked in!

Once the top and bottom are slid together take the back portion of the seat and slide it through the bottom biggest opening on the standing platform. Then take it all the way to the top and over the top of both stands and stretch the bungees back down and hook them to the bars you stand on. This will help secure the two pieces together and the seat won't be all bunched up behind your butt while packing. Then I take the sinch strap and loop it around the bars that your cables go into and tighten it down. The seat and the strap combo hold the stand together very secure and don't make any noise. I also used heat shrink on my hooks for the top of the seat to prevent them from making noise on the stand

Also got ole man climber.all are bulky and get caught up in briars and bramble slapping the frame making noise. I am sitting on the ground this season run and gunning,it gives me memories of childhood. I am going to purchase a new way to hunt after the season. Saddle hunting with a John Eberhart signature Tethered saddle and a perch he uses. Going to take time but this old dog going to learn some new tricks. Minimum weight ,less noise and run and gun with scent control in mind. Trying to figure out how to make a heater body suit work with a saddle.

Gotta have a hip belt, which carries all of the weight of the stand on your hips. Shoulder straps then only balance the stand, no weight on your shoulders.....you can hike for miles with that stand and all your gear. I’m 58 with a slim build and my Ravin R20 started getting heavy after about a half mile of carry in my hands when my stand was on my back. So, I put a 8 or 9 inch loop of paracord with taped open biner on the front bar of the stand, when the stand is on my back, the par cord hangs over my shoulder with the open biner on the end. I then slip the sling of my crossbow into the biner hook and carry my crossbow bottom up across my chest. This effectively transfers the weight of the bow to my back/hips, balances the weight of the stand, which provides better stability for walking, and provides for ready access to my bow if needed. I also slip a piece of pipe insulation onto the paracord before attaching the biner at the end to pad the cord coming across the top of my shoulder. I can carry this setup for over a mile with ease.

I carry mine flipped so that the cables are up so there is less to hit the waist height vegetation. Reduces the snags as well. To get the cables around head height and so that it is less time and noise when setting up and taking down, I leave one side of the cables out and use a Nite-ize twist tie to secure it beside the rail where it would usually go. That way I am ready to sling it around the next tree as well. I also cut my strap down to around 12" and only put it around the two edge bars. I never could figure out why they made the strap so long.

So you can blame the genius who ran Summit into the ground after they went to made in china. This isnt a problem on the pre 2000 steel Summits that were still made in the USA. I have a summit cobra and viper, both steel, far easier and quicker than this. Its nothing wrong with your technique, they just made it harder on hunters. What we did is just put the bottom or top piece on reverse for the new aluminum ones. It looks funny, but works. Thanks for sharing!

Close but not the best way by far. I hook my backpack straps on the rung closest to the front of the foot piece, now take the bungee from the seat and run it over the next one and hook it to a lower one to hold tension the put the strap around the whole stand with thumb release facing upwards and hang your pack on it and hit the trail. This is a great stand, period! It's lightweight, climbs easy kzfaq.infoUgkxlQ7TDIrnnSXXbRgFFaxqwullRJJIuYAs and feels solid while in the tree. The seat is easy to fold up for climbing and sits comfortably for long days in the woods. The only downside I have is that it might be too comfortable, but I like napping in the tree anyway. This is the second Summit Viper I have owned. The old one is steel making it heavier, but this aluminum version is about 9-10 lbs lighter. I recommend buying a better fall harness as the one included is clunky and not super comfortable. I think it will work fine if you NEED to use it, but there are lots of other more comfortable options out there.
