Hal's direction was such a crucial element to what made Late Night funny. The way he'd cut to some random bystander during a bit was a signature move that always worked. Really innovative and inspired direction.

That skit was so ridiculous, with the table flipping and "You can't sleep through the honeymoon!" Really great to see some classic clips that showcased just how clever and risk-taking Dave's crew could be. I was hoping to see some Hal Gurnee's Network Time Killers (the one where they went to the Laundromat was my favorite) but maybe another time.

Man, what a joy to see Hal again! That was the beauty of watching the show - it would incorporate so much of its behind-the-scenes personnel into appearing on camera and making it all the funnier for it.

Hal Gurtner (it's Gurney, Dave) was incredibly important to the success of Late Night. His understanding of how to capture what was going on and what to focus the camera on was invaluable. Under a different director, much of the comedy would be lost. God bless that man. P.S. I loved the film festival shows. I'm sure they were a ton of work but man were they worth it.

It's wonderful and a bit surreal seeing Dave, Paul and Biff in what resembles a 1980s movie. Judging by this, if Dave would have had the interest and motivation back then, he could have just as easily starred in his own sitcom or string of comedy movies.

Great to see Hal again. It looks like he's still wearing the blue shirt. It's a shame we couldn’t catch a glimpse of the tan chinos. I'd love to see staff memorable moments from Biff, Gerry Mulligan and Chris Elliott. It's sad that Pete Fatovich is no longer with us. I'm sure he'd include "cold shoulder and hot tongue. " 😄😄😄

Sorry, fans of Dave. The whole Mrs. Gurney thing was creepy and not unfunny at all. It wasn’t just unpleasant, the premise itself was just not funny. The only interesting part was the possibility that Dave was making fun of his own (now past) womanizing with that bit.
