The "stained glass" window was a pretty genius idea, and it works great! The door is going to be just as great! It's looking really good already. Thanks for sharing your double wall technique, too! Gives me an idea of how I can do some lighting!

Hi Mary🤗 I'm so glad you like my window. I was thinking also that a double spaced wall (or ceiling) would be good for those who want to do lighting. You could even run the wire down and create a low opening for a lamp sitting in a table, but I know NOTHING about wiring. LOL. I'm determined to make my door and wall work! 😍✨

Hi Julie 🤗 I was originally thinking that shiny stuff would be good for a bathroom wall but then it occurred to me it might make a good window...I wish I knew what that stuff was. Gretchen is a real mentor for me, I just love her to bits 🥰 My kitty is a pain in the neck, as are all cats when it comes to laying across one's work space! Lol 😍✨

Hi Jen🤗 Oh thank you so much! I did have to practice a little and realized the importance of negative space. My brain is learning how to stretch in new ways building minis. The door is a work in progress but I am determined if nothing else 😍✨

Thank you Sue!🤗 I hadn't even looked up when the Lunar new year was this year. 🧧🎇 We had neighbors once who were of Chinese heritage and we celebrated with them. The food customs were incredible. It was all about good luck and prosperity. So fun! Thank you so much for stopping by. 😍✨

This is spectacular! Oh, my goodness! How inventive and creative to make the stained glass, as such!! It is truly stunning! I watched Gretchen’s latest door video too - she’s something, for sure! Maybe SOMEDAY I will get brave enough to try a door! With inspiration from you and her, maybe I can do it! For your walls - I vote for the gesso and paint. I think the gesso will give great texture and “old feeling” that would reflect your entire dollhouse! Can’t wait to see what you decide and then do! Again, thanks much for such a wonderful video!!! Kathleen

Hi Kathleen🤗 Oh you're always my champion, thank you so much! My first inclination was the gesso, but what color to paint..or more decoupage? Would you have another look and give me your opinion! 😇 Oh my dear, if I can make even a semblance of a door you most certainly can do it! I'm considering the other wall now (the nursery) and what the window will be but I'm determined to complete the parlour wall first. 😍✨❤️

@@thedollcupboardI took another look, and another, and another and … 😌 Maybe on the parlor side, I still like the gesso idea as the base - with maybe a very very very light shade of one of the colors in the wall paper … blue, coral (can’t tell the exact color/shade) OR something TOTALLY not related, like a light, light yellow or go opposite with a darker shade of plum/eggplant? In the dorm … I’m just a big fan of gesso in old dollhouses and actual homes. So, that would be my suggestion for the base. Since it’s a “new” room - still very much in process, I think the world is your “color oyster”! Pick what you’d like in your own dorm room! You have great taste and ideas … I can’t wait to see what all you do! Thanks much! Kathleen ❣️

It was so nice to see that overview of Whistlebye House (sp?). I hadn't remembered what it looked like. It's so pretty! The "stained glass" windows look great!! And the stain on the door looks nice. Your outtake videos are so relatable!!! The only reason I don't have outtake videos is because I don't have the patience to do more than one take! If I don't get it the first time, it's probably not happening. 😆 ❤

Thank you my friend🤗 It takes me forever to make even a short video. My household is quite chaotic, with constant interruptions so I have to stop and restart countless times, besides all my own fumbles..spilling, knocking things over, dropping tiny things on the floor. (as we all do, right?!) Plenty of outtake footage😂 Thank you so much for being a regular visitor to my "cupboard" 🥰✨

Hello Dot, Whistlebye House is coming along beautifully, your stained glass transom window looks great, and your door does too, what a lucky find the shiny mosaic was, I like how the upper walls and the ceiling looks after you applied the paper to them, you could pick one of the colours of the wallpaper for the other wall, or you could leave it a paler neutral shade and add colour with what ever furniture you add, the possibilities are endless 😊 Have a lovely weekend, Best wishes from Yorkshire, England 🇬🇧 😊

Hi Diana🤗 Oh I'm glad to hear you are a scavenger like me. It doesn't sound as romantic to say 'I found this on the ground' vs 'i found this on the beach'. Lol. I especially like metal. 😂 This roll of plastic whatever-it-is was a real treasure for creating minis. It's rather heavy gauge plastic and there are factory markings every 4 inches or so (you may have noticed). What do you put in your pockets? 😍✨

I love the window it came out so great. I don’t see any mistakes I think it’s really well thought out. I was wondering do you still have some of that wall paper? 🤔If you do I would go with that but I know you figure out some thing too cute. 😃You could add railing to the walls too . 🤔Even boxes on the walls giving them some architectural forms . Basically fake wall panels. I hope I’m not confusing you.🤭 Use coffee stir sticks to do that. Oh well I’m just babbling ,look forward to seeing what you do.☺️ I love your reuse of your shelving for the doll house I’m going to be on the look for something like this. 🤨😉😌💕💕💕💕💕

Brilliant!!👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽🥰 I know Im watching these out of order..lol but I couldn't wait to see the window! The way you used that sticky paper to look like stained glass. I would have never known if I didn't watch it. What a great find! Looks fabulous! I made some years ago for my first dollhouse, using acetate plastic sheets and stained glass paints. I don't have a steady hand..😅 and it showed. I would definitely have an improved technique if I were to make them again. It was very smart to use the cut out of the door and split. Love that! It came out so wonderful in the end. Way to go, Dot!! I had no idea TWBH was a cabinet!!! 😮 Very Impressive!! And one more thing..I fell in love with the joss paper. I loved the piece you chose and how you used it for the walls. That sparked so many visions! It really looks like some old European or Tuscan wall. 🙌🏽 Loved it!!! 😍❤️❤️😊🫶🏽

Thank you so much Jolene! Believe me there's not much "order" to anything I do so watch however suits you! Acetate would be great for stained glass! My hand is not steady either so I was lucky to find this sticky plastic with a grid already on it. The Joss paper was something I've had for years (pack rat me). I'm so glad I could incorporate it. It's easy to find online and has interesting textures, images and colors. Whistle By is my experiment really. One day I'd like my husband to make a door/doors for it so I can create an exterior. Maybe one of those fronts that can be lifted off, like some of the large antique houses have. Thank you so much for all your encouragement. I'm so inspired by all your projects! I'm having the time of my life creatively speaking. 😘🥰✨
