"No one wanted to work" Spain became the first country with a max workday of 8 hours, this was because the entirety of Barcelona's electric company went on strike leaving the whole city dark for a few days.

Yo Stakuyi, little tip for the republican side of the Spanish civil war (because I do this usually for my runs going towards an anarchist route). Literally just allow the nationalists to influence the initial 2 garrisons, what it does is that it eats their political power early and overall gives you more time to delay time and start getting political power faster. If they try to change Madrid that's a bit understandable but usually just hold off on challenging. Once they secure the north however overall your goal is to immediately just challenge and recore Valladolid, saying you secure that and retain those small two northern sectors essentially what you have is a split Nat Spain and it opens you to some really good initial micro to kill some units early, and also cuts off most of the nationalist territory from the supply capital (usually it would be Burgos saying you hold the territory right.) So essentially it would just require you to take the other side of Gibraltar (if they take Seville) and all you have to do is take the opposing force's dockyards and they immediately go into a panic where all they have is local supply (until you take Burgos first, but usually I tackle the western territory first). Overall I find this strat easier, usually doing so I beat the nationalists and before the second civil war even starts and after that it literally just becomes to making a front line and turning on a battle plan. Just a tip for anyone doing this: DON'T build up Catalonia. Build up Valencia or other eastern states you get as the anarchists instead - Catalonia has a -50% (or something in that range) construction speed modifier from the start. Furthermore, put a lot of focus on keeping the northern states you get at the beginning of the civil war, because once Nationalist Spain gets ahold of them they can do the "Unite the Parties" focus which prevents the Carlist Uprising. It's still absolutely possible to do it without the uprising (as seen in this video) but it's a lot easier when Nationalist Spain has its own little pocket to worry about and not just the anarchists.

People putting these two as just two flavors of communism is one of the biggest crimes on historical understanding of Marxist or "claiming-to-be" Marxist movements.

On my first playthrough as anarchist Spain I fininshed the civil war so quickly with the nationalists that they were dead before the crackdown. Same thing for my carlist playthrough. On the same run they annexed Brazil so I got all of it

My personal strat for Anarchist Spain is to declare on the Allies around 1940, when France falls. You can use claims on Gibraltar. With Spain+Portugal+Axis Navy, you should be able to land in the UK, cap the allies, use the warscore to grab rubber and pop in the pacific, maybe some industry in the UK. After Germany declares on the Soviets, you can turn it into a two front war by declaring on the axis. After that, nobody should be strong enough to challenge you.

I played Spain once in Hoi4 and never touched it again. I was crushed in 2 minutes during the Civil War. I then kind of "cheated" by playing as Spain again but starting in 1939 instead. I did end up getting a lot of land in Africa and Europe but that was the last time I ever decided to play the mess that is Spain ever again 😂
