Hi, We are glad you enjoyed the video! We do stamp on different colors of anodized aluminum. The way we oxidize the letters is with metalic color sharpie. If you go on our Beaducatio channel, you will find videos on working with our anodized aluminum.

Hi! For stamping you must use a steel bench block. Some people like the rubber mat for noise absorption but it is placed underneath the bench block. Steel bench block is a must! I hope this helps and thank you for your inquiry.

@stylst0123 I am not sure what Michaels carries in the way of jewelry making supplies. You can check on their website to see if this is a medium they even offer. You can visit beaducation's website for all your stamping needs.

@NenaLindapr The 3/32 sets are a great starter size...check out our site to see all the letter sets we carry. If you click on the "Create Stamped Jewelry" tab at the top of our page...you will see a size chart for letters and blanks. Have fun!

tabby22lay You definitely need a steel bench block if you do not have one. You cannot stamp without it. You also need a hammer that is at least 16 oz.

It depends on what type of metal the key is. The letter sets we sell are meant for soft metals like sterling silver, copper, and so on. If the key is made of stainless steal we do not recommend our letter sets.

@ccsteyn1 We use anything from 24 gauge to 18 gauge for stamping. We carry a variety of blanks in these gauges. You can use whatever you like and what works best for your projects.

The dapping block is the tool you need for doming your blanks. The bench block is the steel surface you need for stamping. Did you purchase the bench block from us? Sounds like what you have is a bench block.

@kingspointnewfie Sterling silver and silver filled blanks are great. You can store them with anti-tarnish tabs or coat them with some Renaissance Wax (works for other metals as well). Check out these products on our site!

you can get a similar stamping tool set for around $20.00 at northern tool and equipment. the have a website and pretty good shipping rates.

You can try removing them with a pro polish pad or sunshine cloth.

Hi! First thing you want to do is check your bench block. It might have many nicks in it that are transferring to the metal. Is it scratches that your are seeing or the impression of the stamp in the back? And is this only happening with the aluminum?

@lilsmidge Stainless steel is a bit too hard. Try sterling silver, copper, brass or nickel. Those metals are softer and easier to stamp. And make sure that you are stamping in a steel bench block on a sturdy table.

Thank you for your reply. I am still researching for the upfront tools and materials, so any input is appreciated. Etsy had some starter kits, but they were well above 150 bucks.

Hello! I'm part of a Young Enterprise group at my school and we had to create a product. We chose to make personalised bracelets, bought everything and started making today but when we hit the stamp onto the metal it doesn't make a good clear indent such as yours in the video. We thought it might be because the hammer isn't heavy enough, we're not hitting hard enough or if we need a bench block? Please help Kind regards Tabby

I have a rubber Matt not a metal one. Doe it still work the same? For some reason my stamping doesn't come out as clear as yours!! :( so frustrated haha

Hello, great vid! I want to get a "925" stamp to put on the back of some of my pieces. Will this mess up the front of my piece? I am going to make sterling pendants that are engraved and chased. not stones or anything.

It depends on how thick the metal blank is. Any sort of stamping can show through the metal on the other side. This is less noticeable with thicker gauges like 18 gauge. Also test it out first on your pieces. You may also opt for using a separate tag like metal piece to attached to your jewelry with the .925 stamp.

Great video! My question is that my local shop only sells nickel blanks... I bought some and tried it and it didn't show up well. I am using a bench block. Any ideas? Is it the nickel? Thanks!

Hi! The nickel blanks you purchased my be too hard. The nickel blanks that we sell are specifically annealed to be softer for stamping. You can find them here: www.beaducation.com/shop/nickel-silver-c-114.html

I recently bought some new spice jars for my kitchen and was hoping to stamp on the metal lids. Is there a small bench block that would fit inside the lids while I stamp? Any other tips or tricks for this kind of situation?

Hi! You can use the bottom end of a dap from a dapping set in a table vise. I've done this before and it works great!

is it at all possible to stamp on metal that is bent? I bought some sterling silver buttons that are a little bent, but i'd like to stamp on them. thanks.

Hi! Yes, you can stamp on a curved shape. I place a dap from my dapping set in a table vise, then place the curved piece on top of the dap. You can even tape the curved piece to the dap to keep it in place. Otherwise you can use the ball end of a ballpein hammer as well. Good luck!
