STAN AXIS THUMB BUTTON RELEASE || REVIEW & TEST. In this weeks video, we do a review on the all new STAN AXIS Thum Button Release. The all new STAN AXIS Handheld release is new in 2023 and shares some similarities with the STAN ONNEX that was released back in 2022, however, there are some big difference that makes the STAN AXIS a top contender for New Thumb Button Release in 2023.
During the STAN AXIS Review, we cover the specification of the release and how to adjust the release. Also, we test the Stan Axis release and I provide my overall thoughts and opinions on if the Axis Release is worth checking out in 2023.

I started using this release this year I was using a cater. It has so much adjustability. I just shortened my loop some so I didn’t have to give up draw length. I really like it

It's a nice release. One of the better ones's that Stan has put out recently as a lot of them have had quality control issues.

Not sure if you review your old video comment section, but: were you able to take all of the travel out of the Axis? Also the instructions say clockwise to decrease travel, but in your video and in PJ’s video you both say it’s counterclockwise to decrease travel. Are they referencing it from the inverse direction? Who’s right? 😂

With most Stan releases, I would say no, you cannot remove all the travel, but with this one you could. If I recall, it's counterclockwise. It is not the first time I’ve got instructions from manufacturers that weren't correct 😂

Thanks for the review! I am looking to get my first thumb release, and I would like to get something with the wrist strap on it, or that can be added. This is high on the list of options. My only concern is the hook, as it seems that it the open style hook could slip off the loop. Is this the best option, or is there something else that a strap can be added to that would be better?

For whitetail hunting, I prefer a closed hook design because you can clip it on your D-loop, hang your bow, and it there and ready for action. However, if you want a wrist strap, the open hook would be better because it makes it easier to get on the d-loop in low light. Also, it won't slip off once you have tension on it.

This release is probably the one for me since it has a wrist strap. I recently had a UV hinge leave my hand at full draw on my new LIFT 33 when I relaxed my grip too much, luckily it didn't hit me or the bow.

The lift has an aggressive draw cycle, and the back wall is unforgiving. Any let up, and the bow wants to go. If your draw length is a little off and you start to relax, I could see where it could catch you off guard. I'm glad you and the bow are good.

Yea I have since adapted a wrist strap to my hinge as "training wheels" until I get used to the draw cycle but I have not had an incident since. I love the backwall on the LIFT because it is so solid but you are right, a very unforgiving valley. after 100 or so arrows I am already getting used to it. I personally don't have an issue with the actual draw cycle itself. @@MichiganAmBushOutdoors

@TangoOne the 33 draw cycle is much smoother than the 29.5.

Why is nobody talking about this release? Didn't it come out in early 2023. You're like the only one who has a video on it.

That's a good question. I know it was covered by PJ at the 2023 ATA show.

Compared to the Onnex did you see length the same? Did you have to make any adjustments to peep, etc.?

I didn't compare it to the Onnex, but I'm pretty sure this is a hair shorter, but not by much.

When compared to your Carter Wise Choice did it change your draw length at all?

Not that I noticed. The neck on this release is on the shorter side.

@@MichiganAmBushOutdoors I just picked up a WC less than 1 month ago coming from a Choclate lite 3,Both super comfy. Would you be able to briefly explain the difference/ benefits between release gates that open towards your face as opposed to away from your face if there is any? I noticed the WC opens towards
