Great video. I'm familiar with a lot of the Stanley planes but it's only book-knowledge, as I have never acquired them. Interesting to see them in someone's hands being used. I always wished I had a 289 skewed fillister, but ended up with the LV version due to availability.

You have some beautiful plane's, I can not get my head around why you call a rebate plane a rabbit plane, but still, that's an American thing I guess lol , best wishes from old England 🇬🇧

It is absolutely an American bastardization of the original term which is simple and concise. I make no claims to its proper usage other than to say I use both terms. Cheers, from the reformed colonies. My best to you all.

Love your videos. Your research and perspective is top notch. Do you think these planes were sold and used by craftsman or in production shops to fine tune a big run?

Dennis, I think both. I believe these were designed as “workhorses” and later became useful foe home carpenters and craftsmen.

I just got off the phone with Black & Decker. They say they have discontinued the entire Stanley hand plane line. I was astonished. Has anyone else heard this?
