Sorry to say that was not a flair mower. A flare mower is like a rotary engine it has three sides with a row parallel to the housing of the mower with blades or some people call them knives. This is a brush hog mower. If you Google flair mower you will see a mower that is close to 6 ft wide by 3 ft deep, a brush hog is 6 ft wide by with the wheel the back 8 ft deep. But my personal feelings is the manufacturer is doing an injustice if the belt is the weakest link that is wrong it should be a nut and bolt on the shaft where it meets the pulley nut and bolts only cost you at the most $5 for a nut and bolt belt cost probably close to 100 bucks unless this is a very common type of belt. Because on the John Deere flair mower I run the belt is almost $250 . Maybe they should manufacturer some skis to go on the wheels if you're trying to mow wetlands on the mower that is not the quad

After working on these in a small engine repair business I worked at and thinking the quality was terrible I had to watch this video and confirmed that this machine is pretty bad in quality… The friggin belt snapped right away for petes sake. The Briggs and Stratton engine is not heavy duty enough for the application and prone to catastrophic connecting rod failures when the governor opens er up under load, I’ve seen this on 2 separate and exact instances.

Had a similar setup from a $300 dollar diy pull mower. Cutting the same cattail mix. Got the Ventrac and never looked back. Cutting while its dead did make that a harder task. Easier to get it stuck in the mower blades when its all bulked up.

Learn something new everyday, I thought a flail mower had a drum with floating knifes. To me it looks like a bush hog.

so, i think having a front mounted mower on a tractor with a float hydraulic configuration with tires behind the mower to follow the topography, could be a better option. and, it it used electricity generated From the tractor itself, so the only connection would be on the lift arms which come standard with the loader bucket, and whatever cord you use to connect from tractor to implement. that way, instead of an awkward side pull form the rear, its more of a push. and, in some way more like those brush hog drums with the teeth, but, safer perhaps. anyways, i think this rig is a little awkward to use, and very case specific.

You need a Sherp ATV to pull that mower through your swamp. Mower might need some bigger tires though.

Blade engagement should be from beside the machine, not in front. I wouldn't truck those chains to stop a rock to the ankle, and you have to have your toes so close to the deck!

Have a similar set up, that all go through belts pretty often.

Looks like a good machine if you don’t have any other equipment but a headache comparatively if you do. A ventrac with tough cut would do this no problem.

Question to the Earthquake folks- you had the belt break before even doing anything. If this happened to us as a consumer and we contacted you for support- would you have replaced the belt or would you have said no, belts are considered a wear item?

I appreciate you showing us the latest and greatest, but this one just plainly is a piece of crap. I’ll just resort to a good old fashioned brush hog if you can’t get you other equipment in there. Stan, I absolutely like the video, as always! Do I like this machine? Absolutely not! I see a disaster in the making! A rope used on a rotary machine being dragged behind. In my opinion, that's asking for trouble! I wouldn't trust most people to operate it safely. Not to mention. If that rope breaks free, and gets wrapped around the spindle. That's going to spell disaster! Let me know what you think?

Yea..... Bout that thing. 1st, single cylinder cheap Briggs engine. It's literally 1 of the cheapest engines they make. 2nd, that belt setup is atrocious, use a PTO shaft with a clutch. 3rd, the rope thing is pretty self explanatory. 4th, tires. Those are like the bare minimum 4 lawn tractors, 4get whats going on here. Either doubles or tracks are much better. 5th, That lever engagement.... Cmon, a cable would've been better. 6th, engine not even REMOTELY protected. 7th, those tire guards aint stopping anything whe u go 2 back over that giant root you missed, n there goes the tire. 8TH, no emergency kill mechanism of any sort, that rope thing is useless when SHTF.... Massive YIKES.....
