A buddy and I were watching "Relics" the night it aired. Data said, "It is green" - and we absolutely and utterly lost it!!!! For close to 3 decades, he and would still reference that moment, and still bust our guts. Thing is - neither of us even knew this scene existed until about a year ago.

Personally, I feel I'd be dangerous with a replicator in the Star Trek universe (Earl Grey hot ..... I don't think so!) ... I'd be ordering pale ales, porters, IPAs, Imperial stouts, "barley wines" even if I knew they weren't "quite human" ... er ... I mean "quite real"! :D Coming into work the next day with all that "chatterin' piece a' " ... er I mean, 'computer beeps' ... "auuugch! Whiskey is aged in the cask. Once it is in the bottle it gets no better, in other words, it doesn't "age". Once it is in the bottle, 12 year old scotch stays 12 year old scotch. No matter if you keep it for 20 years.

"Dude" the aging comes from being in a wooden cask for 20 years. Once its bottled the aging process stops. So in theory you can have a 20 year old scotch that's been bottled for another 30 years. It might be 50 years old but Its still a 20 year old scotch that has been in a bottle for 30 years. Look it up.

Also you buy it at 20 years old. Keeping it for another 5 years doesn't make it a 25 year old scotch.

There's at least one Star Trek novel (I don't think it's canon anymore, or still in print) that describes how Scotty - before he was Chief Engineer - when he was just a Lieutenant I think - had figured out how to add a few minor plumbing bits in with the tubes and wires of the Enterprise engine systems to make a disguised STILL! Dude was an engineering moonshiner and the rest of the engineering staff kept it quiet because they liked having some "Engine Room Hooch" to relax with after hours! LMAO!! XD

And then in ST:SNW and LD collaboration, Mariner introduced the Orion Hurricane cocktail for Uhura and Ortegas. And then the bridge crews of the Enterprise drank those with the Orion delaq mixed, and made them see everything in cartoon. That cocktail is green as well.

Ya but the difference is, Scotty enjoys the drink and only goes excess when he's got a plan or just needs to get the edge off. Bones does it to cope with everything around him.
