FILM DESCRIPTION:
The tenth film in Paramount's highly lucrative sci-fi franchise is also positioned as the last for the entire original Next Generation crew. En route to the honeymoon of William Riker (Jonathan Frakes) to Deanna Troi (Marina Sirtis) on her home planet of Betazed, Captain Jean-Luc Picard (Patrick Stewart) and the crew of the U.S.S. Enterprise receive energy readings identical to those uniquely emitted by the positronic brain of android crew member Data (Brent Spiner). Upon investigation, they discover the disassembled parts of an identical android named B4, an early prototype of Data himself, now scattered on the surface of a remote world. Data was more human than anyone else on the Enterprise. His death showed that humanity. He always did strive to be human, but in the end, he was shown to have already accomplished that. His death was powerful. Every single fan of Data must have bawled their eyes out when this happened. You always cry when B4 sings at the end. The writers did a terribly beautiful thing in this movie. And everyone saw the pain in Picard's eyes at 1:54 didn't they? I saw it.

+Shadow Assassin The way I think of Data's Death is that he felt that giving his own life to save the lives of his friends and family on the Enterprise would be much better than being the sole survivor of the battle, I'm also guessing that during their brief association Spock imparted to him the age old Vulcan Axiom that the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few (or the one.)

I love Goldsmith’s music they use at the end as Picard leaves. The message in the music to me is that despite losing a friend and replacing 3 members of your senior staff, the message of The Next Generation lives on. Data’s memory lives on. There is a brighter tomorrow out there, go find it.

I know the TNG films receive a lot of hate, but god what a send off. What a truly touching and beautiful note to end and amazing series on. Nothing could've topped this ending, it was the farewell they deserved. It left us heartbroken, but hopeful with a wonderful message, great tragedy does not mean the end, only a new beginning.

Say what you will about the Picard series, it did something I never thought possible and expanded on Data's end without ruining it, in fact it gave me far more closure on his story than this film did (much as I love it). I feel like Data has been misunderstood, even by the show's writers. They keep saying Data was unemotional. I disagree. If you consider an emotional reaction to preferring one outcome over the other, Data had plenty of emotion. He had opinions and made decisions in a way that a purely logical computer would never have done. I think it's more accurate to say he didn't understand the context of his emotions because he lacked that programming. He had feelings, but they didn't make sense to him. He needed his friends and experiences to fill those gaps.
@okbruh
@okbruh 6 ай бұрын
Perhaps during his training they said he was incapable of feeling emotions, ignorance and pre-judgment typical of humans. And how did Data believe his evil brother when he said he was More perfect than him, gullibility and naivety have always complicated something in Data's life, despite his super intelligence and logic.

Data's daughter who superior in capabilites to sata was the same as B4 at first. . perhaps androids need time to learn the way humans cannot walk or talk at first.

Always hated how the last movie ended with the Enterprise in spacedock instead of flying off into the sunset.

The only bad thing about this movie is that it was the last one!! Movie owned as much as all the rest of the TNG movies. Hopefully we will see more of them one day, with something like star trek titan.

This isn't the final scene! The deleted "captains chair" scene is! kzfaq.info/get/bejne/bMhondajqdKcaYE.html and continuesf from the original ending for about 3 more min. and i always thought makes for a much more fitting send off! :)

I liked this film I don’t know why it go so much hate. Sure I did not want Data to die and cried my eyes out but he died a hero. The only thing I wished is they kept the sene in of Data and the captain toasting to new worlds.

I wouldn't mind ' lighting up ' in front of Data ... in other words lighting up a cigar or whatever you know , party ing while everyone else is tripping on synthahol It was great when Data got his emotion chip
