Yeah... and nobody mentions the space suits... that's a "science fiction" suit not a star wars space suit. Man i already hated some of the suits in the clone wars (basically orange jumpsuits with a glass helmet), but damn. I don't know, reduce the glass part, make the helmet more closed, i don't know but that's not a suit from star wars.

I think there there have been scenes of space fire in Star Wars before but they were like ‘shooting’ flames - a gas fire venting into the void. This looks like one of those homeless oil drum fires. 😬 Edit: wrote this before I got to the editor’s commentary. Even wrote camp fire ahahaha (but I changed it to oil drum at the last minute). Pea brains think alike !!!

I'm pretty sure fires in space are possible if you've got a supply of oxygen, the flame doesn't have to be surrounded by oxygen itself. Idk the context of the episode, so idk if there was an oxygen leak, but even if that was what was going on, that fire is not what it would look like

This fire might be suspicious but I don't think it's fair to blame this serie while the entire franchise never really tried to look realistic about physics

This, on the other hand, doesn't do anything for immersion or entertainment, it's a pathetic little fire that shouldn't even be there outside of incredibly specific situations

@@Softlol I think if they released the viewership numbers you'd find them to be lower for the Acolyte compared to other star wars shows like Kenobi, Mandalorian or Andor. It almost always is when so many people say the same thing. They might have had a good number for the first two episodes but the ones after that for bad shows drops dramatically and I suspect that is the case for the Acolyte. It's the same even for the Marvel superhero shows, they've dramatically lost a large amount of views and profits compared to their initial success. Which is to be expected to be fair, they had a lot of success so it makes sense that they couldn't sustain it.

The second its not, we start to focus in on what is wrong. The same would have been the case in the OG movies if they where sht. 0:44 Funny enough, editor, the commentary on the DVD for Episode III talks about how this scene has sound in space and the crew goes like: "They're in high atmosphere". Fair enough, they were kinda real close to the planet in that scene, but fire would probably still not catch on, unless there's different contents of oxygen there or something, I guess. The difference is having a sci-fi explanation for it. In episode 3 they are above a city planet that uses some insane planetary engineering to dissipate heat and keep the atmosphere breathable, and on a scale that is hard to actually imagine. So there's oxygen up there, Coruscants atmosphere is managed by technology, it's much thicker then a normal planet. Problem solved. I can't think of a way to hand wave this one. The best I've got is there's burning oxygenated material that is within the gravity field of the ship, it looks like a ordinary fire. And that barely even makes sense. It's a $5 pyrotechnic on a movie set

You don't even need atmosphere. Rockets achieve engine ignition in space by carrying their own oxygen that they mix with the fuel. But it wouldn't look like a campfire lol. If you are leaking loads of oxygen and have fuel on fire, you probably get an explosion. Putting out a fire is the least of your concerns, the hull of the ship is gonna be first on your mind... or I guess you could say first THROUGH your mind when it explodes and fires off shrapnel everywhere.

@@andrewearth469 dont need a spaceship, a fire can only be sustained if its being fed oxygen to burn. Once the oxygen is consumed, the fire dies. You can literally just light a match and cover it with a see through cup to witness this in action. While you can suspend disbelief in most occurrences since the fires are raging wildly as if they are being fed by a secondary source, like someone said with the fuel tanks leaking, which would continue to feed the flames until the fuel is all used up. This just looks like a casual fire one would roast marshmallows on, not an out of control fire being fed by a burst fuel cell. Now if the fire was spraying out like a flame thrower, that might be a point, but it isnt.

He's distancing himself from Disney, especially since they've done nothing but ignore him. I know he did say his StarWars was always pro-woman, and it wasn't something that needed to be added to regarding that. Pointing out the false claims by Disney, that StarWars needed to have strong female characters, which seemed to have pissed George off.

Presumably it's leaking an oxidizer that's letting the fire burn. But then if the pressure is high the flame should be shooting out like a rocket (since a fuel + oxidizer is literally just a rocket), not a campfire. Or if the pressure is low the fire should be spherical and a lot calmer, so still very much not a campfire.

But it was always like this. Space in Star Wars never worked accurate. There was always sound in Space, the ships never used engines on the sides to move and there was always fire in space. So sorry, but no! This is no justified criticism. @@bobbobber4810 You can even go as far and try to explain the explosions fire. Turbolasers are plasma weapons. They shoot bolts of super heated tibana gas. The "explosion" could be explained as the release of plasma by loosing containment after hitting surface. What this "thing" was supposed to be idk, even if it was burning gas, it would look significantly different.

Who's gay in the show? So far this fire is the only thing people are jumping on the hate train for. First 2 episodes and it's alright. People pretending that this is the worst SW show ever are coping. It already has a better start than Ahsoka, Obi-Wan, and Book of Boba (which is a pretty low bar tbf). So far I haven't seen anything that's made me go "oh this show is shit". The PR around this show was pretty bad, I think we can all agree on that, but it still remains to be seen if this show is good or bad.

Here's the problem: Yes, fire can happen in space, as long as it has something to fuel it and burn in (like a gas). The problem is actual fire in a zero-G environment would either look like a flame jet (the fire carrying on a stream of gasses) or if the stream wasn't too powerful maybe spherical. It would not look like a camp fire. It's like someone knew the first part of this argument and the second went right by them.

For fire its not just oxygen thats required, its heat. You cant have a bonfire like that at -270 degrees in space. In those fight scenes - fire was preceded by an impact of high powered weapon that you could presume - raised the temperature of the surrounding area igniting vented materials with supporting air from the hull.

When a Starship/Voidship is destroyed, there is definitely a fiery/plasma type explosion but it's goes out almost instantly due to being in the void of space. Which is why destroyed starships/Voidships end up being Space Hulks just floating in the Void completely destroyed, with zero fires in sight. Also, in Episode 3 the explosion on the Starship and it diving towards the planet is completely possible, they're fighting in high to low Orbit, and the gravity of the planet will pull that vessel down. Sure the fire won't burn like this camp fire shit in Acolyte, that's just plain ol ridiculous...

@@7ydy805 Sure but the oxygen masks in Empire were elegant and fit the Star Wars aesthetic. Star Wars never had the NASA look. This costume looks like it’s from the Expanse or Starfield. I think Star Wars has limited EVAs for that reason. Star Wars is a fantasy series not a science fiction one. It’s important to maintain the look and feel.

I've seen people defend this by saying that ships explode in Star Wars all the time. An explosion can happen in space as long as there is an oxidizer, like the oxygen inside a ship. Plus those explosions dissipate pretty quickly. But a constantly burning fire on the exterior of a ship in the vacuum of space? Come on now
